Chapter 1:Moving To the Unknown
There I Stood ,Outside the house that I grew up and raised in. I waved to my parents standing in the Front door way . With my bags and luggage in one hand and my diamond case phone and the other . I wave down a cab , and minutes later, a cab pulls up and pulls over .The driver got out and opened the door. Yelling to my parents, Welp, this is me. See ya later, ma'and pa love ya. With tears in my eyes, I get into the cab and close the door while the diver puts my items in the trunk . The driver getting inside the car , I wave to my parents one last time before the driver pulls off . The next time I come here, I'm going to be the millionaire I am going to be . Threw my headphones on because I know this is going to be a long ride to the airport. while we ride, let me tell you about myself Hi, my name is Cassie luna Blue, Raise by two amazing people who fell in love once giving birth to me. I'm the first child, and the only child is what I used to say until my mom ended up pregnant. this month going on 40 with a newborn baby, but life beautiful, you know . I'm on my way by myself, Alone, to a city to start a new and adventurous path for me and my new life . I left everything behind , friends ,family ,even my old dog that I had since a little girl . Just want something new . as I settled into the back seat of the taxi. Today marked the beginning of something new—the kind of new that felt as liberating as it was terrifying, I said to myself . “Heading to the airport?” the driver asked, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. Yeah,” I replied, managing a smile that felt only half-formed. “Off to a new city.” Enjoying the view and my music we wound through the early morning traffic, and the city began to wake. I caught glimpses of people navigating their routines—parents ushering kids to school, joggers pacing their breaths, and café owners arranging pastries in twinkling displays. Every face was a story, another thread woven into the vibrant tapestry of life. I longed for that tapestry to become a part of something bigger as I stepped into the next chapter of my own story. i began to vision my upcoming move not as an act of abandonment but as an opportunity—a chance to craft my own reality away from the shadows of the past. My decision to leave was an act of faith in my potential. Who knew who I might become? Who would I meet along the way? We rounded a corner, and the airport loomed large in the distance, a metal and glass giant welcoming wanderers from far and wide. I could almost taste the possibilities. we arrived at the airport . As the taxi came to a halt and I prepared to exit, I took one last look at the city. A deep breath filled my lungs, and I stepped out into the warmth of the morning light. It was time to start anew. The hum of the airport enveloped me as I stepped through the sliding glass doors announcements, footsteps, and distant conversations swirling together in an uncharacteristic symphony My heart was a ticking bomb with an anxious rhythm against the backdrop of travelers and suitcases alike. This was it—my first step into a new life, or perhaps a new chapter that had been waiting for me to find it. Clutching my carry-on, I maneuvered through the cluster airport, looking at everyone. A mother juggled a toddler and a diaper bag, a young couple giggled over a shared text, while an older gentleman adjusted his tie, Ever since I accepted that job offer, each detail of this day loomed in my mind—packing my belongings, saying goodbyes, making the final decision to leave everything behind. The past few weeks had been marked by restless nights and the weight of hesitation. As I passed the security checkpoint—removing my shoes, placing my belongings in bins as the scanner beeped and my bag slid through, I felt the stir of doubt bubble beneath my skin. Was I running toward something, or was I merely escaping the echoes of a life that had grown too comfortable, Once through , I found an empty seat near a large window overlooking the runway. I planted myself down, allowing the outside of the world to distract my racing thoughts. Planes took off and landed. i felt the weight of a single moment—a threshold crossing—the in-between of my old life and the unknown adventure awaiting me once i stepped off the plane .I stepped offboard, the door closing softly behind me. It was time to soar into the unknown. “Where to, exactly?” she whispered to herself, the words escaping with a breathy tremor. Staring at her phone screen, the little map app depicted a city sprawling beyond the airport’s confines, all tangled streets and pinpricked areas marked with stars. Coffee shops, museums, parks Let's get out of here. She finds her items and goes to the nearest exit. With a sigh, she adjusted her grip on the handle of her suitcase, just breathe,” she muttered stepped outside the sanctuary of the airport, the warm air wrapping around her like a soft cloak. The world sprawled before her—a canvas, vibrantly painted, and she was ready, ready to fill in the gaps of her own wild, anxious heart. The distant hum of the city pulsed around her—cars whooshing by, voices overlapping, laughter erupting like fireworks. Yet here she was, tucked away in this narrow passage, feeling more disconnected than she had ever dreamed possible. The map app on her phone blinked, its persistent blue dot mocking her inertia “You are here,” it chirped cheerily, an invitation to further alienation. She squinted at the screen, at the maze of streets it tried—unsuccessfully—to lay out. Breathe in, breathe out. The scent of street food wafted past her, Why had she come here? The question recoiled in her mind, a repeated drumbeat of self-doubt. New job, new city. Not knowing where to go ,looking down on her phone, she bump into someone, making her take her eyes off of her phone Oh! I’m so sorry!” the voice said, rushed and breathy, tinged with an accent she couldn’t place. Looking up, she met bright blue eyes . Hi, sorry again. My name is Aliana. I didn't see you there , no problem, she said. Quick question: Do you know where to get a room around her? I'm new. here, and I'm looking for somewhere to crash until I go to my job interview on Monday. Let me see your phone this is the best apartment around, and they are super affordable. Aliana said nice to meet you. By the way, my name is Mia . there you go Aliana said, handing Mia her phone back . I guess I see you around Mia again next meeting, "she said before walking off . Guess I got to learn Mia said searching up the bus route Only a few minutes until the next bus arrived. Just my luck, of course. decided to try my luck with ride-sharing apps. Typing my address into the app, I pressed 'Request,' watching the little spinning icon reminds me of the uncertainty of modern life. Would a driver even accept the ride ? After barely a minute, my phone pinged. A bright notification popped up: “Driver on the way! As the driver approached, I noticed a cheerful wave from the driver. She was a woman in her late forties, with a bright smile that instantly put me at ease. 15-minute ride We pulled up to my apartment building, and I reluctantly opened the door, taking in the view of her new life and her new home .
