Second chance to fate

CHAPTER 2-Wish

Lilith heart dwindled in size as she remembered her brother’s letter. Her brother’s death was her moment of awakening and realization. She remembered her little brother, how he always checked up on her, cared for her and loved her even when she always yelled and pushed him away most of the time, he behaved like the older one. Guilt ate through her veins, she was also at fault. Her little brother whom she was meant to protect, love and care for was dead and gone because no one was there for him. He was always there when she cried, when she was depressed and when she was suicidal, he always made sure to comfort her, being the selfish person she was, she only cared for herself and could not see that her 12 years old brother was still a child, compelled to act like an adult and had no one to lean on. She neglected her brother for Samantha and John who always dimmed them ‘not good enough’

“Williams is dead” Lilith whispered still in shock while looking straight at her parents eyes. The guest gasped in horror. Lilith saw her parents neutral expression, no emotions they were looking at her as if she was broadcasting the weather.

“My son, nooooooo” Samantha slumped to the floor crying while John rushed to her side to comfort her whispering comforting words.

“He killed himself, because you couldn't do your job as a Mother and Father. All we ever wanted was just to be loved, was that too much to ask for? Were we so despicable that you couldn't love us? We never asked to be born, we never asked to be brought into this world, it was all your doing. Why will you bring a child into this world when you know you would not love them? We never wanted any of this, so why must we suffer when we did not do anything wrong? All we ever wanted was your love, we did everything, I sold my body to your clients and their sons, I studied day and night to get perfect grade, I was bullied in school because of you, I felt insecure because of you, I was suicidal and depressed because of you, William felt he was living in hell because of you. He could not take it anymore and killed himself because of this hell of a family” Lilith screeched while crying profusely as she looked over her teary parents

“Lilith don’t you dare talk to us like that, we did not do such horrendous things” John bellowed in rage while hugging his dear wife. His main concern was his wife and nobody else, she was his top priority.

Lilith laughed cynically at her parents, she felt numb. She was truly tired of everything and everyone. With resolve she looked behind the pillar the deep end below and sighed in defeat, with finality and resolution she looked at Samantha and john one more time.

“John and Samantha you win, I cannot anymore. If there is a next life I pray that William and I won’t have parents like you. I forgive you both and I pray you have remorse one day. I wish I would be given a second chance to turn things around and prevent all this from happening, I wish I would be given another chance to love and care for my brother, I wish I was given another chance to protect my little brother, I wish I was given another chance to keep my virginity and never agreed to plastic surgery, I wish , I wish. But it is too late now, goodbye” Lilith jumped off the balcony hearing screams behind her and for once she did not care, for all she felt was freedom from her mom and dad, from her fake friends, from her demons, from her guilt, from everything. She closed her eyes in content, happy to meet her brother wherever he was.

“I have seen what you and brother have gone through. I have seen the pain and misery, you both do not deserve to die this way. I will grant you your wish and I hope you will be able to choose another part that will lead you both to greener pasture. My child your earthly parents may not love and appreciate you, but always remember there is a God seated on the High throne of heaven that loves and cherish you. I LOVE YOU MY DAUGHTER” a low voice muttered to her ears in a low voice luring her to deep slumber.

                                                    2 YEARS BACK

                                                   SUNDAY,  1st January 2018.

Lilith woke up gasping for oxygen like her life depended on it, her heart beating erratically with her body covered in prolific sweat. Lilith was perplexed, how she still alive? Or was it all a dream? But that was impossible it was too real to be a dream. How did she come to her room? It could not be, she rushed to her desk where her calendar and clock were kept and checked. It read 1st January 2016 9pm, but how is that possible? It was September 24th 2018 when she found her brother’s lifeless body and when she committed suicide. Meaning it was 2 years back, she was just 16 years old and her brother was 10 years old. Meaning she was yet to give her virginity away or do any form of surgery. Was she given a second chance at life to redo all her mistakes and protect her brother? And then Lilith remembered the voice;

“I have seen what you and brother have gone through. I have seen the pain and misery, you both do not deserve to die this way. I will grant you your wish and I hope you will be able to choose another part that will lead you both to greener pasture. My child your earthly parents may not love and appreciate you, but always remember there is a God seated on the High throne of heaven that loves and cherish you. I LOVE YOU MY DAUGHTER”

Tears formed in Lilith’s eyes, she could not believe it. She rushed out of her bed and rush to her brother’s room down the hall. She barged into his room and found him sitting on his bed lost in his though; his eyes looked like he was in a far away land. Lilith looked at her brother from head to toes, she noticed how he had bags up his eyes and his eyes look red and puffy from crying too much and how he was so under weight. Lilith wondered how she never saw all this, was she that blind?

Lilith rushed to her brother’s side and hugged him while apologizing over and over again.

“Lilith are you okay? Did mom say anything mean to you? You know you are beautiful just the way you are and I love you. You are enough” William uttered while looking straight into his sister’s eyes, worried about her forgetting his own problem.

Lilith lean away from her brother, looking into William’s eyes in admiration. How could a child be this strong and wise at this young age" she wondered, she felt so guilty for turning him to an adult when he was nothing but a kid, but now was the time to set things right. She wiped her tears and looked at her brother

“William I am so sorry that I made you feel alone, I am so sorry for neglecting you like our parents, I am so sorry for not loving you, caring for you and protecting you like and elder sister should. I am so sorry for being like our parents, I am so sorry for letting you go all through this alone and making you behave like an adult instead of the child that you are. I am so sorry for shifting my responsibilities to you, I am so sorry for disappointing you, I am so sorry for making you feel invisible and not being there when you needed me, I am so sorry for everything” Lilith wailed while putting her face in her hands from shame and not having enough courage to look at her brother

William was shocked. He thought he was dreaming, and rubbed his eyes not believing what he was hearing, he felt relieved that finally someone sees and notices his pain and he does not have to pretend to be the adult he is not, he was shocked because just yesterday this was the same person that doing everything in her power to gain her parents attention, he felt happy that his sister’s eyes were finally open. He started sobbing quietly not understanding all the emotions that were rushing through his body, he was overwhelmed by it…………..
