Mia was comfortable being alone. Possibly too comfortable.

Mia comes to learn that being alone isn't the best for her with the help of old friends and one boy who wants nothing more than to obliterate Mia's closed off bubble.

Faced with challenges that were inevitable, Mia learns how to open up and she helps to tame Trey. Away from what their friends portray them to be.

Chapter 1
Chapter 1-01 Flashback A sweet little girl comes bounding into the kitchen to find her mummy and daddy on the floor laughing hysterically with their legs tangled together in a clumsy mess on the floor. "Mummy, Daddy what are you doing, " the young girl says trying to sound angry at her two silly parents. Both heads turn and look at their daughter guiltily, they scramble to their feet almost slipping again with all the ingredients from eggs to flour sliding all over them. The parents Juliana and Jason loved to cook and bake together and ever since they had their beautiful little girl that have been trying to find time for them to be able to do it. The father suddenly has a mischievous glint in his eye which the mother soon picks up on. Before Mia the little angel could escape both parents begin charging for their daughter smothering her in sticky eggs and flour, a frightening scream accompanied by giggling, broke through the house probably deafening the whole street. After cleaning up the mess they created as a family, both parents went to clean up in the shower before it was time to go out. Mia couldn't help but be mesmerised with her big brown eyes at her mother and father and be happier than any child right now. Present day I made a deep sigh as I thought about the early memory. How I wished life was as simple as that. Ever since my dad left, I can't remember having a memory as happy as that with it being just me and my mother. She has not been the same since he left, I mean they were high school sweethearts and got married soon after finishing university. It's their fault for thinking they were going to work. I mean getting married and having a baby straight out of school just wasn't going to work. And I'm the baby that caused those problems. I am the result of a broken marriage is what I was led to believe. Mum doesn't speak to me, she's always out in the office until late at night and sometimes she doesn't even come home for a few days at a time. She believes that its best if she buries herself in work. Then she wouldn't have to think about him. To think about how much she was left with. "Mia", I heard my name being called out. I turn to find my next door neighbour a lovely middle aged woman. As well as being my neighbour she's also my auntie on my mother's side. "Hello Sally, is everything alright? " I ask her moving my eyes to her small frame. She attempts to wave at me whilst holding a bunch of roses in her hand. I saw the clear struggle as she purses her lips. She nods her head, "well yes darling just seemed like you were spacing off there, you want to come over for some dinner tonight I know your mum isn't coming back tonight" she tells me quietly. Isn't she?, well she didn't tell me that. Sally looks at me and her face drops when she realises that I didn't know and gives me a sympathetic look. "Sure" I reply "I'll be over in a minute " sally and my mum were very close sisters when they were younger. When mum got married to my dad, the family kind of drifted apart until later on in my life. Sally's husband was a kind man and helped out with my parents in getting them a house on the same street they lived on. After a beautiful meal at Sally's and many awkward moments where they asked about my mother. Many question's I couldn't answer. I invited Ashley over for a sleepover, so we could go back to college tomorrow together. Ashley is my best friend. She has been for many years now and honestly couldn't have gotten through everything without her. Every girl needs to have a best friend growing up and I was fortunate enough to have one that would stick with me whether I wanted her or not. we spend the night scrolling through social media laughing at funny posts on f*******: that we can relate to meanwhile pigging out on Chinese takeout. Its normal for us to do this. Can't blame us, the Chinese around here is so good with the place being managed by a top Chinese chef who used to run a restaurant in Beijing. Mr waan doesn't settle for prices though it’s probably one of the most expensive takeout's in the city. But because his food is amazing, he gets away with it. We were just casually sitting on the bed after taking down the rubbish left from our meal when Ashley gets a notification the same time I do. I don't take much notice of it but Ashley quickly grabs my phone whilst holding mine. "What the f**k ash " I exclaim grabbing my phone back from her. I look at my phone and become confused when I see the screen, she was on f*******: and was on some guys profile. The name doesn't ring a bell but when I look at his picture I recognise it instantly because those brown eyes are very familiar to me. Not just to me though, every girl in school also recognises them. "He sent us a friend request Mia " she practically shouts bouncing up and down on my bed like a total maniac. "So what" I answer, tossing my phone onto the bed. I barely spend any time on f*******: anyway so there really wasn't much point in getting excited over a friend request. Way too much drama that I didn't need in my life. "Ouch" I glare at my best friend, she just slapped me "no need for the violence." She is nice sometimes, most of the time she's hitting me when she's not happy with me. "You should be ecstatic it's Trey like it's a huge honour you know " she tries to explain to me. She's acting like he's the prince of England. He definitely is not, from what I remember when he used to go to our school he was a total douchebag. I say used to, because he left school when we were starting year 10. "I'm not accepting, " I say quickly before running to the bathroom and locking the door behind me. I'm not being forced by her to do anything. I hate peer pressure especially from my best friend. I hear the sound of something being thrown at the door before a rather animal sounding groan escapes her lips. "No fun " she mumbles. Ashley was grumpy with me for the rest of the night. The next day Ashley begged to stay around whilst she danced at this event. Only food was enough. I stood by the side lines as I watched her dance along with the dance team. A team I used to be a part of but ever since my anxiety came, I haven't been able to be a part of. I gladly recorded her dance performance like she asked me to. I was too busy trying to get the best possible angle that I wasn't watching where I was going and in the middle of their performance I bumped into someone. I felt myself falling but my arms were grabbed before I could seriously embarrass myself. "slow down, what's the rush " He asked me. Holding my arms. When I lifted my head I recognised him. How could I forget it when just last night Ashley was telling me all about him. His looks. His body and his favourite food. Its pineapple pizza. That’s already a sin in my book. I couldn't even get a reply out when one of the girls ran in between us, shoving me away so that she could wrap her arms around Trey, who's eyes were still staring at mine. "Trey what are you doing " she says standing next to him, her manicured nails wrapped around his arm in a tight grip. Trey stays silent. She manages to pull Trey away and lead him back to the middle of the sports hall, completely ignoring my existence entirely. Her manners are exceptional. Chapter 2-02 Deciding to make this whole thing easier for all of us I decide to step aside and continue my exit to the door where my gaping best friend is currently standing. I would go far as saying she is in a state of shock. Ashley had a field time telling me how much of an i***t I know i already am. she also found it hilarious when I was literally puking from having her hair in my mouth, apparently the look on my face just showed how much i hated the pure idea of having the intoxicated horse hair in my mouth. She didn't even try to make it look natural. I was still gargling with mouthwash when Ashley called me to ask if I would join her to going to the fair tonight. Originally I didn't want to go but I had to be her wing woman because she was asked out by some boy called Toby, to which I have no idea who that is. "Fine but we need to drop by Sally's cafe I have something to give her" I tell her, she agrees saying that we can meet there instead and then walk to the fair. Since it's not a long walk and it's spring so it's super nice. I quickly decide on wearing just a casual outfit because it's only the fair and I'll probably won't stay for long because knowing Ash she's just going to ditch me as soon as she meets with this Toby guy. "Hello Mia darling what are you doing here " Sadly asks me as soon as I get to the table. I look up giving her a friendly smile, Sandra is a 40 year old woman and has two kids and a loving husband, Charles has always been a close family friend and my mum treats him just like a brother. They have both been around throughout my parents relationship so they know how things have changed, Charles still finds it hard to even forgive my dad for what he did and how he changed the family for the worst. It's Charles who has been playing the father role for me. Charles and Sally own the cafe and have been for the last 4 years, ever since she quit her wedding dress business which she had in the city. with the two boys growing up and starting school it was only right that they spent more time closer to home. Charles enters the cafe carrying a big bag of, actually I've got no idea "what you got there?" i ask him pointing to the bag he has in his hands. "coffee" he replies attempting to give me a side hug with his free arm which fails miserably because Sally walks through the door at the same time Charles drops a bag of coffee beans letting it spill all over the recently cleaned floor. "what's on the agenda today then" He tries to differ the attention away from the mess but sally just hits him on the head "i***t" she mumbles taking the letter I had in my hands and reading it with her glasses on. Ever since she had an eye test she's been wearing these glasses. I honestly can't remember the amount of times we've all joked about it, to which she just glares at us. "Just meeting a friend then going to the fair" i answer honestly. It's weird to have people checking up on me. Mum really never asks me if I'm leaving the house. Mostly because she's never home. "your mums not home is she " I unlock my phone saying "nope" they both sigh. "Always busy that woman, I don't know why she doesn't stop and calm down she's not getting any younger" sally speaks up, returning back the letter to the rightful place , the bin. They're letters from dad, we've been getting them for a while but we're choosing to just ignore it . I think Charles expects me to laugh but I don't. She may be getting older but so am I and soon she won't even have me around. "I don't care any more , she hasn't spoken to me since the last day of term " I reply back. Sally was about to say something but she stops abruptly, turning to a new customer before giving my hand a little squeeze pointing to the door where Ashley has just walked in with a skip in her step. Taking a big, deep breath I place a smile on my face, I can't stay depressed for too long I need to be happy for Ashley today . Turning around I face Ashley grabbing my bag, we start to walk towards town talking about random stuff and Toby, apparently, they have been texting and stuff and said they were going to meet up later tonight. "I think mums picking me up tonight so if you get bored when I meet Toby you can go if you want" Ashley says sending me a weak smile.
