****CHAPTER ONE - THE SUDDEN ENCOUNTER***“Mum, you don’t have to come with me to the market. Your health isn’t good, and you need rest. The doctor already advised you not to stress yourself, but I don’t know why you won’t listen.” Dylan looked at his mother’s pale but beautiful face and couldn’t help but nag her. Still, she insisted on going to the local market for groceries.Rosemary smiled weakly but firmly. “Come on, Dylan. I hardly visit your grandma. Since I’m here today, I want to get the ingredients with you and cook for her—it's been a long time.”“But Mum, you can stay with Grandma while I rush to buy the ingredients,” Dylan urged.“Rose, listen to your son and rest at home with me,” said Elizabeth, Rosemary’s mother.“Ah, Mom, I’ll be fine. Let me just come along,” Rosemary replied happily.Dylan sighed, seeing how determined she was despite her poor health. He had no choice but to compromise. “Okay, you can come, but promise to tell me immediately if you feel unwell.”“I will, I promise,” she said, smiling like a child who just won candy. They said goodbye to Grandma, and Rosemary left happily with Dylan.***“Oh my God! Where is my shoe? Dad, did you see my shoe?” Mabel shouted, near tears. Henry, who was engrossed in reading a newspaper, looked up.“What’s wrong?” he asked.“I can’t find my shoe! Have you seen it?”“Oh! I saw little Ben playing with it earlier. Check under the bed.”After what felt like an endless search, she found the shoe among Ben’s toys. Quickly putting it on, she ran off to the market. Having wasted so much time, she hurried and accidentally bumped into a woman in her mid-40s.“I’m so sorry, ma’am! It wasn’t intentional,” Mabel apologized.Rosemary was stunned when she saw the teenage girl apologizing, especially because the girl’s sleeveless gown revealed a birthmark on her right arm. She froze.Dylan noticed his mom’s stunned expression as she quietly muttered, “My little... min... min…”“Mum, what are you saying?” Dylan asked.“My baby, Dylan. Where is she? That’s my little Minmin. Didn’t you see the birthmark? She’s your twin sister!” Rosemary’s voice trembled.“Little Minmin, where are you? Mom is here!”Dylan was shocked. “Her twin sister? But I was told she died at birth—how is she here?”“Mom,” Dylan called out, “Let’s go. Stop getting yourself worked up. I know you’ve always wanted a daughter and wished my twin sister was alive, but she’s gone. You have to move on.”“No, I know what I saw. That’s my daughter,” Rosemary insisted.“She’s not. Please, move on, Liv... Mom!”Suddenly, Rosemary fainted. Dylan caught her before she hit the ground, then quickly called his elder brother Daniel, a medical doctor.“Hello, Dan. Get your staffs ready—I’m bringing Mom to the hospital.”“What happened? Is she okay?” Dan asked.“She fainted. I’ll explain everything at the hospital. I’ll be there in less than an hour.”Dylan focused on the road while Daniel called family members to keep them updated.*******************Meanwhile, Mabel quickly rushed to Madam Annie’s shop where she worked part-time. When she arrived, Madam Annie wore a frowned face. “Where are you going, young lady? You’re late again this week! What did I tell you about coming late? It seems like you don’t care about this job anymore!” Madam Annie shouted, her tone sharp. “I’m so sorry, ma’am,” Mabel pleaded. “It won’t happen again.” She begged profusely, fearing to lose the job that helped pay for her dad’s leg surgery and her tuition fees. “It better not happen again, or you’re losing this job, do you understand?” “Yes, ma’am,” Mabel replied quickly and hurried to her duty post to attend to customers. ***At the hospital, Dylan found his brother Daniel waiting outside with hospital staff. Madam Rose was carried inside, and Dan immediately began a full checkup. Just as Dan was about to come out, Vincent (Madam Rose’s husband), and their two sons, Xavier and Lancelot, along with Dylan, rushed towards him, nearly knocking him over. “How’s my wife?” Vincent asked anxiously. “How’s Mum?” Dylan, Xavier, and Lancelot asked together. “Mom is fine,” Dan assured. “Let’s go to my office—I have something to tell you.” He gestured to a nurse to watch over their mother while he led them away. “Mom is stable for now,” Dan began, “but she needs a heart transplant.” “No way! A heart transplant? Just months ago, you said she was fine and just needed her medication! How did it come to this?” Dylan asked sharply, clearly upset. “Calm down, Dylan, and let him explain,” Xavier said, turning to Dan. “Why does Mom need a heart transplant now? You said she’d be fine.” Dan sighed, looking at their worried faces. “I did say she would be fine if she took her meds continuously, but now her condition has worsened. The transplant is the only option left. From my observation, something must have caused her stress or excitement earlier today, which took a heavy toll on her heart.”

*****Chapter Two- Hospital & Refusal*****
All eyes turned to Dylan, who was with their mom all day, waiting for an explanation. Trembling under their gaze, Dylan said, “I didn’t do anything to her. We were at the market when a teenage girl accidentally brushed past her. Mom was shocked and called the girl Minmin, saying she’s my twin sister.” “Minmin?” Vincent muttered thoughtfully. “Dad, do you know who she is?” Dylan asked. “No, I don’t,” Vincent answered. “But Mum picked the name ‘Minmin’ for her unborn daughter—the twin she lost at birth. She was very happy when she learned she was going to have a daughter.” “That’s my point. I told Mum the twin sister died, but she insisted the girl was Minmin and ended up fainting.” “Mum insisted on that? Lancelot asked. “Yes,” Dylan nodded. “But why would she insist that?” Dan asked, clearly puzzled. “Well… she saw a birthmark on the girl’s arm,” Dylan explained. “How does the birthmark look? Did you see it?” Vincent asked urgently. “No, only Mum saw it,” Dylan replied. Just then, a nurse knocked on the door. “Sir, your mom is awake.” “Thanks, we’ll come to see her now,” Vincent said as the nurse left to attend to others. “Since Mom is awake, let’s go ask her about the birthmark,” Vincent suggested. Everyone agreed and walked towards Madam Rose’s VIP ward. The hospital lights hummed softly above her bed, their pale glow casting shadows on her sunken face. Madam Rose lay silent, her breathing weak but steady, an oxygen mask strapped to her nose. The heart monitor beeped in rhythm — slow, but holding on. Her husband sat beside her, gripping her frail hand. Tears had long dried on his face, replaced by quiet desperation. Dan entered the room gently, clipboard in his hand. "Dad," he began, "mom suffered a mild cardiac arrest triggered by emotional shock. We've stabilized her, but she urgently needs a heart transplant. Her condition is critical." Vincent nodded slowly. "And the transplant?" “We can prepare her for surgery as soon as you give consent,” Daniel said. “But she’s refusing.” Vincent turned to his wife, confused. “Rose… why?” Her eyes fluttered open. "I saw her," she whispered hoarsely. "Saw who?" "My baby," she breathed. "She’s not dead." There was silence. The doctor stared. Mr Vincent froze. “She had the birthmark. Right there…” Rose raised a trembling hand and pointed weakly to her shoulder. “Just like I marked her.” “Honey… that was over eighteen years ago,” he said gently. “The hospital said—” “They lied.” Her voice was sharper now. “I saw my daughter today.” The doctor cleared his throat. “Mom, please… your heart—” “I don’t care about the surgery,” she said firmly. “Not unless my daughter is brought home. Not unless this family acknowledges her.” “Eighteen years ago they told me she was dead. But I saw the birthmark — the same one I drew on her when she was a baby.” The room felt colder. Dan leaned forward, carefully measuring his words. “Mom, memories and trauma can sometimes play tricks on the mind when someone is ill.” She shook her head vehemently. “This isn’t a trick. That girl was there in the market. The same birthmark on her shoulder. She was alive all this time.” Mr. Vincent's fingers clenched tighter around hers. “Rose Mary , if it’s true, if our daughter is alive, why didn’t she come to us before?” Tears welled up in her eyes. “I don’t know. Maybe she didn’t know who we was. Maybe someone kept her away.” Dan cleared his throat softly. “Mom, your heart condition is serious. Without surgery, you may not survive. We want to help you.” She turned to him, eyes fierce despite her weakness. “Help me bring her home. Help me find my daughter. Only then will I consider the surgery. Me Vincent swallowed, his heart aching for the woman he loved, torn between hope and despair. “I promise we will find her,” he said quietly. “No matter what it takes.” --- Rose—” “She is mine!” she snapped, louder than she had strength for. The monitor beeped faster. Dan raised a hand, calming them. “Rest now,” Dan said. “We’ll talk again soon.” Mr. Vincent stared at his wife. His world had shifted. A daughter lost… now found? Or a hallucination? He didn't know. For hours, the family gathered in Dan's office at the hospital , their conversations hushed but urgent. Rose Mary's refusal to undergo surgery sparked tension and confusion. Some believed she was clinging to a desperate hope, while others feared the truth might unravel everything they thought they knew. Her four sons paced the hallway outside, exchanging worried glances. The youngest, Dylan, was the first to speak. “This changes everything,” he murmured. “If mother is right… then who is this girl?” His older brother, Xavier, sighed heavily. “We have to find out. For mother’s sake, and for ours.” The second son, Lancelot, shook his head. “It’s not going to be easy. If she’s alive, someone must have hidden her. Why? And why now?” The fourth brother, Dylan, clenched his fists. “I don’t care why. We’ll find her. We owe that much to mother.” --- Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Madam Rose Mary's thoughts drifted back to that day at the market. The sun had been high, casting sharp shadows across the bustling stalls. She had been walking slowly, her heart heavy with years of sorrow, when she saw her — a young lady with sir eyes bumping into her. But what caught Madam Rose Mary's attention wasn’t just the girl’s face; it was the small, crescent-shaped birthmark on her shoulder — the exact mark she had painted on her newborn daughter nearly two decades ago. Her breath had caught. Her legs trembled. And then, as she reached out, her heart betrayed her, and she collapsed. Now, lying here, she clung to that moment as the last flicker of hope. “I can’t live without knowing,” she whispered. “My daughter must come home.” ******* After Madam Rose’s firm refusal of the heart transplant without Mimi’s return, the family launched a desperate search. The days that followed were filled with frantic searchings, the family contacted the hospital were she was Born, orphanages and local authorities. Days turned into weeks, but Minmin seemed to have vanished—no trace, no leads, as if she had disappeared into thin air. Meanwhile, Dylan took it upon himself to find her. He spent long hours at the busy market, blending into the crowd. For two whole weeks, he watched patiently and desperately, his eyes scanning every face that passed by. Then, one afternoon, he caught sight of a familiar figure—Min min . Heart pounding, Dylan followed her cautiously through winding streets and alleys until he reached a modest, worn-down house. Quietly, he called his dad and brothers, telling them his location. They wasted no time and immediately arrived at the place. They hesitated for a moment, then knocked firmly on the door. The family reunion they all hoped for was about to begin—but what waited inside was still unknown. *** It was the beginning of a journey that would challenge their beliefs, unravel old wounds, and test the bonds of family. And for Lizzy, it was a desperate race against time — to find her daughter, to reclaim her family, and maybe, just maybe, to save her own life.
