14. Remember You said Yes.

It took a while for Ruby to finally realize that she had a ring that was very attached to her finger. Maybe it was the confusion about the dream she had last night about Silas King. She dreamt that they slept together well not like had s*x or anything but while she was sleeping she smelled Mr. King kissing her and then they curled up and cuddled to sleep. It was a warm experience and she remembers Silas asking her to join her on her bed and she smiled warmly and said Yes. According to her dream it was sexy as f**k and she enjoyed every minute of it and in that dream so did Silas. She woke in then morning to wake him up as normal but he was already gone and she had breakfast by herself. It felt like yesterday except yesterday she was annoyed at her boss but today she wouldn't have minded his company or maybe she would have considering the dream she had about him. But it was just a dream and really nothing steamy happened except the kiss and the cuddling.

Finally on her way to wake up or check up on Anne-Marie did Ruby realize that she had a ring on her finger, she was just about to knock on the door when she saw it, she looked at her ring finger and the ring was cute and different but it was not hers. She was about to spend time trying to figure out how it got there or who it belonged to but a loud thud coming from Anne-Marie's room made her just take it off and put it in her pocket for safe keeping for the time being and then she hurriedly entered only to find Anne-Marie wearing her night gown on her head like a ninja and exposing all her undergarments which she was heavily trying to remove also. Ruby thanked God that the zipper was behind and she couldn't reach it  "You need help with that?"  Rosy asked keeping a safe distance from the violent grandma and as she was right on the money Anne-Marie woke up today and chose violence  "You want to steal from me too!!"  she yelled at the top of her voice and started swinging and kicking  "Marie you're going to break a hip."  Ruby tried to warn her old best friend  "Are you calling me a dinosaur?"  Anne-Marie asked cheekily and Ruby started fearing for her life  "No... Mam."  she answered praying she would buy that but she didn't and she threw a punch straight at her face  "I'll have you know I'm a champion!"  Anne-Marie bragged as Ruby tried to check if she broke her nose with punch.  "Fine champion, how about a fair fight...."  Ruby challenged, she knew this was the only way to know that Marie had fun today also to tire her out so that she can relax and agree to read and eat.

Silas had a funny dysfunctionality where it was hard for him to fall asleep for more than four hours if he slept in someone else's bed so after invading Ruby's privacy like that during the night he woke up after four and a half hours and he collected his pillows and kissed his fiancée on the forehead then went on ahead to work. While he was in his study working he realized that hour had passed and soon Ruby would be waking up so he headed on and prepared for his day and then he made sure he was out of the mansion before even his alarm clock went off. He went into the office pretty early today and there he just focused on his projects and prospective ones. Finally the day began and Maddie walked in the office finishing off a bagel  "Briggs get me some breakfast too."  He commanded and Maddie looked at him awkwardly  "are you sick today?"  Maddie asked and Silas casually shook his head  "Ohh I want a sandwich and make sure instead of salami they put on some bacon."  he instructed without looking at her  "what?"  Maddie was confused  "Oh yeah rather let them put the salami and the bacon at the same time, I could really use the meat."  Maddie went out of the office and the big a*s sign on the door read Chairman and CEO Mr. King. Then she went inside and sure enough the person who was sitting on that chair was Silas King but since when does he eat breakfast at the office. One time Maddie brought him breakfast and he said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there is no way he would not eat it before he leaves the house. He said no matter how busy he is he always makes time for breakfast.

Maddie was surprised but she figured today wasn't the day especially after yesterday, maybe Grant finally agreed to be his boyfriend so there was a shift in his mind or something. Maddie ordered the breakfast and collected it then hand delivered it to Silas then she stood there and watched as Silas devoured that double meat sandwich. She could have died of a heart attack at that moment but her sister calling brought her back to life. Grant didn't show up today and that just made Maddie think that things were falling apart, I mean Grant was as busy as Silas but the difference between the two was that Grant trusted his employees and his teams and Silas was such a sour person and had trust issues to the point where he needed two assistants and a personal maid. Grant was a CEO of his own company but he religiously came to the office to check on Maddie and keep his friend in check, he came all the time that Maddie was working and he didn't come when she was off going to school. At first both Maddie and Silas thought that Grant had a crush on Maddie but it turned out that he really was just checking up on them and he really just bored at his office besides Silas liked having Grant there all the time.

"Okay what is going on?"  The silence seemed to suffocate Maddie but Silas gave her a blank look as if he didn't know what she was talking about  "Where is Grant?"  Maddie asked and Silas became bored too quick and fast and went back to his work  "King!"  Maddie exclaimed and Silas took a deep breath  "We are not fighting Briggs but he doesn't want to talk to me."  Silas answered her without looking at her and Maddie was satisfied with that answer but she was still worried  "why are you acting strange then?"  she asked  "I'm not acting strange."  Silas took an offense to that question  "Yes you are. You just ate breakfast in the office."  Maddie told him and Silas knew what she meant  "well that is none of your business."  Maddie would have pressed the matter more but she knew when to back off when Silas was drawing lines and she backed off. Silas had convinced himself that he wasn't scared of puling a scam on Ruby but him not wanting to go home when it was clearly time to go home proved otherwise. He finally stood with  heavy feet and a heavy conscience, he got home and found Ruby peacefully dining all by herself. Apparently she was having a romantic dinner for one as the lights were dimmed down and she had decorated the room with candles and she wasn't wearing her uniform.  "look at you."  Silas commented startling Ruby and almost causing her to knock over a candle  "you're home!"  Ruby exclaimed in surprise and Silas nodded  "well I live here."  he made it sound like she was a crazy person. Ruby stood up and turned up the lights and panicking she said  "well- I-Uhm.. I just thought you were working late-to-...uhm...today" she finally finished saying that.

"I'm glad I wasn't otherwise I would have missed all of this."  he pointed to her tight dress that was showing her thick thighs and her round a*s. The image of her naked suddenly came in his mind and he closed his eyes to take it in while reminiscing and he was still approving  "well... are you going to f-"  she didn't finish her sentence and Silas asked  "where is your ring?"  Ruby didn't get the question because she has never worn any ring around Silas or anywhere in the house so she just stared at him in confusion.  "Where is your engagement ring?"  this time he articulated the question as if he was talking to a pre schooler  "Huh?" Ruby was both disrespected and confused.  "The sunny flowered silicone ring."  Silas made some movements to give his words some weight and meaning and Ruby suddenly caught on to what he was talking about  "ohh that..."  but then she suddenly remembered what he just said and that it was on her finger  "OHH THAT !!"  she screamed in surprise as a bunch of thoughts popped in her head  "so that was you?"  Silas nodded  "so it was your ring?"  he nodded again  "wait what do you mean engagement ring?"  she suddenly stopped and really thought about his words and Silas pulled out a contract and handed it to her. She opened it and as soon as she saw the tittle she had to read it out loud  "Contract Mar-"  Silas suddenly pulled her to himself with a hand over her mouth to shut her up  "Is the ring in your room?"  he whispered in her ear and she nodded and he said  "well we are going to quietly walk there and don't say a word."  Ruby nodded again.

They got to the room and Silas finally released her  "put it on."  he took the ring and handed it to her and instructed as follows. Ruby looked at him like a lunatic and proceeded to open the contract  "what is this?"  she asked  "well you can r******w sign and put this on." Silas pushed and Ruby gave him a bored look. Silas pulled the chair again and sat down then he explained how his father wanted him to marry the De le Ray princess and how he doesn't want to so now he is rebelling by asking her to be his wife  "plus it makes sense."  He finished off. Ruby understood most of the explanation but what she didn't understand was why he was so opposed to this  "Why don't you want to marry the unseen Princess?"   Rosy asked and Silas rolled his eyes  "why is that even a question?" he asked and Ruby didn't understand  "she is entitled and clearly only living on her parents wealth."  he criticized  "that princess wouldn't make it in the real world."  he said with bitterness  "have you met her perhaps?"  Ruby asked and he shook his head  "and I don't plan on meeting her."  he was adamant  "she is a rich, spoiled, Barbie doll girl. All delicate and soft and I'm pretty sure she cries too much over stupid stuff and she is shallow too."  He was really ranting  "wow I would think you met her considering everything you're saying."  Ruby commented and she was clearly upset but Silas didn't care  "you know you shouldn't judge a person because of their wealth."  she warned  "just sign the contract and wear the ring."  Silas instructed  "why don't you just tell your father all of what you just told me?"  Ruby cleared her throat  "He is too greedy to let this one go."  Silas explained  "so this is for the money?"  Ruby was seriously baffled  "and fame."  Silas added but Ruby wasn't up to marrying a stranger let alone Mr. King.

"Uhm yeah I can't help just ask someone else."  Ruby tried handing over the contract back to him but he just looked at her and smile  "yeah but then just last night I proposed to you and you agreed."  Ruby couldn't believe her ears  "you were in my room while I was asleep!?"  she asked trying to piece together whether he heard her dreaming about him and the fact that she wasn't wearing anything besides her thongs from her waist down.  "Yeah we even cuddled a bit."  he doesn't know why he mentioned that but it was in the air now and Ruby heard it on the other hand Ruby was having a mental breakdown over what he said  "YOU Pervert!!"  she screamed  "I was sleeping and you cuddled me!?"  she was about to have a panic attack and Silas was trying to keep her calm  "What the hell were you doing in my room when I was sleeping!?" she asked and the suddenly her airway couldn't produce enough for her to breath and she started having a panic attack and although this was serious all that went through her mind was that Silas saw her thighs and possibly her butt, he saw her thong and then another thought attacked her, what if he looked at her v****a? As soon as that thought invaded her mind she felt weak on her knees and he legs gave in holding her up and she plumped to the ground and with all those loud thoughts attacking her she couldn't hear  Silas instructing her to breath in and out. He realized that speaking softly to her didn't work at all  "Okay Scotts Breathe in and out."  he tried one more time but nothing so he let go of her hands and held both sides of her face in his hands and then pulled her face dangerously close to hers and started talking softly.  "Ruby look at me, look at me."  he commanded  "I'm sorry okay, I really am sorry now please take a big breath in and then exhale."  he gently showed her how to do it and when he exhaled right on her face Ruby suddenly heard him apologize and she tried to steady her breath. She mimicked what Silas was doing and once her breathing was stabilized without even thinking about it  Silas kissed her forehead and that kiss although startling both parties it lasted roughly three seconds,.

"You need to leave."  Ruby instructed and Silas took advantage of the fact that she is recovering from a panic attack so he picked her left arm and slid the ring in place  "Remember you said yes."  he softly whispered and kissed her hand again then he exited the room. Ruby took a deep breath in and exhaled as powerfully one last time and then she looked the ring that had just been placed on her finger and she had already established that it was a beautiful ring but as she was looking at it, she felt nothing. There was no emotion whatsoever and as much as she heard his plea and she did feel sorry for him for having such a parent she didn't feel sorry enough to play his wife. So she took off the ring again and placed it in the envelope and told herself at whatever time tomorrow that they cross paths she will hand him his stuff and downright refuse. She might have said yes in her sleep but she was wide awake and there was no way she was doing this.
