Chapter 13:

2006 Words
Xavier: The rest of the journey to my territory was uneventful. My mind kept repeating the rogue attack. I didn’t understand why the Sivika Clan would risk so much to get Zarik back. What information could he have for them to go out of their way like this? Their men weren’t even strong. They lacked skill and training. They were far weaker than the rogues I’m used to dealing with. Could they have been a decoy? But for what reason? They knew the strength of my pack. There would be no reason to test me like this. My very name struck fear into the hearts of any rogue. I need to find out what Zarik knows. That must be the missing piece. “Strauss, grab the files from the Sivika attack in the archives, then meet me in my office in an hour.” He nodded and headed to our Headquarters. I glanced over at Alpha, but she averted her eyes. I inwardly sighed. I didn’t understand why she was giving me the cold shoulder when she was the one that disobeyed my orders. “Edgar, Zarik will be staying with you. See that he is settled, then meet me in my office.” “Yes, Alpha Xavier.” He bowed and headed to his car with Zarik. I picked up Alpha’s luggage that Riley had untied from the top of the van. “Alpha, I will show you where you will be staying.” She followed without a word. We headed to my Jeep. I placed her bags in the back and opened the passenger door for her. She stepped into the car without a glance in my direction. It seemed that she was going to give me the silent treatment. That was fine with me. I wouldn’t have to deal with her sharp tongue and emotional outbursts. We arrived to an eight bedroom Tudor home. Roses crawled up the side, covering the brick walls. Windows lined all three floors with diamond-shaped panes. A small gazebo stood to the right, surrounded by a garden. “We’re here.” I turned off the ignition and headed toward the house while Alpha grabbed her things. My head butler opened the door and bowed. “Welcome home, Alpha Xavier.” “Thank you, Marvin. This is Alpha. She will be staying with me for the next five days. Please arrange a room for her.” “Yes, Sir.” He faced Alpha. “Madam Alpha, may I take your bags?” “Just point me in the right direction and I can take them there myself.” Marvin’s eyes widened at her suggestion. I cleared my throat to get her attention. “A guest of mine is to be taken care of properly, especially one that is my mate.” Marvin’s jaw dropped. He composed himself quickly and bowed. “I apologize, Alpha Xavier and Luna Alpha. I did not mean to be so informal.” An awkward laugh escaped Alpha’s mouth. She set her bags down and lifted his chin. “Please don’t be so formal. I like to take care of myself. I wouldn’t want to burden you.” He smiled. “It is not a burden to care for an Alpha and his Luna. It is an honor.” She thought about his comment. “I understand. Thank you, Marvin.” He took her bags and ascended the stairs to our right. She followed him with her eyes as he crossed the hallway balcony. Once he was gone she surveyed the foyer. Small plants laid here and there with flowers of different colors. To the right a den with mid-century modern furniture could be seen. Next to the staircase a sun-room opened up with tall ceilings. Wicker furniture was arranged with plants lining the walls. Below the balcony was a hallway that led to the kitchen. I could see her eyes taking in her surroundings. Like any good Alpha she was charting the landscape of her new environment. “Is it to your liking,” I asked. “I thought it’d be dark and gloomy like a dungeon.” I chuckled at her remark. “I’m a wolf, not a vampire.” “Sometimes I wonder,” she grumbled. I sighed. Her sharp tongue was back. “I thought every pack had a castle where the Alpha lived.” She furrowed her brows. “We do, but I haven’t lived there since I took over. It is still used today, but not by me. It’s just Marvin, Lidia, and I. There’s no reason to have an entire castle for three people. I will show you the castle sometime during your visit.” “There’s no need.” She glanced around one more time before she spoke. “I’d like to settle in. It’s been a long day.” “Follow me.” I followed the trail that Marvin’s scent had left behind. He put her on the third floor. I realized as we approached my bedroom that the trail had ended there. I opened the door and she entered. “He put your suitcases in my room.” Her head snapped to me with blazing green eyes. “Excuse me. I will not be sleeping with you. How dare you assume that I would, just because we are mates.” I could hear a small growl coming from her lips. “I already told you, I’m not that kind of wolf,” she said through clinched teeth. Her refusal to sleep with me hit hard and I snapped. I slammed the door and locked it. My room was wolf-proof and I didn’t want anyone interrupting us. She had finally pushed me over the edge. I pushed Alpha against the wall, pinning her arms above her head. “Why are you so stubborn all the time? You make up your own conclusions. You won’t listen to reason. You don’t follow orders. Are you looking to be punished, Alpha Alpha?” She was breathing heavily. I could hear the adrenaline rushing through her veins. Her pupils were dilated. My hard chest was pressed against her soft breasts, but the damn fabric was in the way. I wanted to feel her soft skin sliding against mine. Our faces were inches apart. Her scent reached my nose and seemed to be tearing my restraint. I could feel my hard-on growing. It was pressed against her stomach. I didn’t want to scare her. I knew this was too much for her, but I couldn’t step back. I could feel her green eyes hypnotizing me. It felt so good to have my mate this close. I wanted to be one with her. I wanted Alpha carrying my mark, so everyone would know that she belonged to me. I heard a small moan escape her lips and, just like that, my control was gone. I lowered my lips on the sweet spot that will hold my claim. I tried to hold back and kiss her gently, but I was losing patience quickly. I started sucking the soft flesh of her neck. I could feel my wolf’s intentions. He needed to claim Alpha. She was destined to be ours and he wouldn’t hold back anymore. My teeth ached. I knew the only way it would go away was if I sunk my teeth in her, marking her. Before I could comprehend what I was doing, my teeth grazed her neck. Alpha: I didn’t expect this from Xavier. I thought he would storm off, but when he held me against the wall I could feel my pulse rise. But it wasn’t fear. I knew he would never hurt me. My heart was pounding because I wanted more. I could feel the sensation of his body moving against mine. I could feel my n*****s harden underneath the thin fabric of my t-shirt. I was used to being dominate and I loved to have control. For the first time in my life I wanted to submit. I wanted his Alpha to take over. I could feel his hard member press against me. I was helpless as he continued to pin my wrists above my head. I had never felt anything like this before and I couldn’t stop the moan that escaped my mouth. My wolf could feel his intentions. He wanted to mark us. My claim spot was sensitive to his gentle kisses. When he sucked on my neck, I couldn’t help but moan again. Then I felt his teeth. I nearly screamed at him to take me. I needed to be one with him. I wanted to wear his claim on my skin. I couldn’t seem to think clearly anymore. All I knew was the way he touched me. In that moment that was all I needed. I could feel the pressure of his teeth as they began to sink deeper into me. This was it. This was the moment we would be linked, but I wanted more. I needed him inside me when he claimed me. “Xavier,” I moaned. RING. RING. RING. We both jumped from the sudden intrusion. Reality seemed to sink in. We stared at each other panting, as his cell phone continued to ring out, cutting the s****l tension that had been building between us. “I should answer that…” His words trailed off. He looked dazed. It looked like he was waking from a trance. His eyes widened, as if he wasn’t aware of his actions until now. I nodded and averted my eyes from his. My cheeks were burning as I realized what almost happened. Luckily, he stepped away to answer the phone. I could finally get my barrings now that he wasn’t so close to me. “Hello? No. Tomorrow morning. Here. Don’t be late. I mean it, Strauss!” Xavier hung up the phone and looked at me. “We’re going to have a meeting in the morning.” I nodded. I didn’t trust my voice. I was growing tired as my adrenaline seemed to stop flowing. All of the events of today seemed to hit me at once. As if he could read my mind, Xavier said, “I’ll take you to your room.” He went to unlock the door, but paused. “I didn’t know he would bring your bags here.” Xavier turned to look at me. His eyes held a gentleness I had never seen before. “I would never force anything on you, Alpha.” I was relieved that Xavier had turned when he finished his sentence. The way he looked at me I could feel the softness of his words. I could never resist him if he held such sweetness in his eyes for me. My wolf whimpered. She wanted to mate with him. Even now, I could feel the effects of the mate bond. I needed to get away from him and pull myself together. The walk to the room next door was short. It appeared that these were the only two rooms on this floor. An entire floor to ourselves was concerning. I was grateful his room appeared to be wolf-proof. If I had to smell his scent from next door I don’t think I could stop myself from sneaking over and climbing into his bed to get a better whiff. Who knows what would happen if I did that.  I just hope that whatever spell he seemed to have over me would be gone by our meeting tomorrow morning.
