Slade watched Kyra’s eyes go wide, then lift to Rocky for help. Rocky’s lips curled up and his eyes danced with humor.
Slade looked at the notebook in his hand, but he couldn’t see what Rocky was looking at.
“Just thought I heard you coming in,” Rocky said.
Slade glared at him. He didn’t like the idea of Rocky working closely with Kyra, but he, Dex, Dunn, and English were the best ones for it. They were the ones who needed the most help. They all agreed the night before, after Kyra left, that they were all more than happy to take a turn showing her what they needed.
The only one who wasn’t getting a turn was Slade. He f****d that up good and hard.
“You guys okay?” Slade asked, trying to catch Kyra’s gaze.
“We’re good,” Rocky answered for both of them.
