9 “I’m really tired,” Kyra lied. She wouldn’t even look at him. “You’re tired?” Slade repeated. She nodded. “Yep. It’s been a long day.” “I don’t believe you.” She did meet his gaze then, and with fire in her own she said, “You don’t know anything about me.” He stepped closer so they were both in the shadows. Someone could walk by and not see either of them. Slade got close enough that she gasped and took a step back. Another one and she’d hit the door and have nowhere to go. “I don’t know much about you, no. I’m not going to make up some things that I’ve guessed because that wouldn’t be fair to you. What I do know is I want to know you. I haven’t hidden that. I want to know you. We all do. Dunn asked me to set this up last week so we could all have a chance to get to know you.” Ky
