Slade was pacing the hallway the entire time Dunn and Dex interviewed Kyra. He really hoped they liked her. He owed her, and pushing for her to get the job would help her.
It would help him, too, because he wanted to see her again. Dunn told him to stay out of sight while she was in the building. He didn’t want Kyra to see Slade and think something was going on. Slade wanted to be the one who greeted her, but Dunn refused.
“Well?” Slade asked the moment Dunn walked into the hall.
“Let’s all sit and talk,” Dunn said calmly. He nodded to the conference room they used for meetings inside the office. It was bigger than the small one at the front. That one was only for people who weren’t let through the secured door, and since Kyra didn’t yet know exactly who they were and what they did,
