CHAPTER 4: THOUGHTS I SHOULDN'T THINK
Eliora's POV
“Eliora we need to talk. I love you, I really do. You're putting me in a tight corner by avoiding me . It was a mistake. I promise it won't happen again. Let's go home pookie”,he said with tears in his eyes
I looked at him blankly. Did he expect me to forget everything because he simply apologized.
"What exactly does this man take me for"
I was stunned beyond understanding. “How did you know I was hear” I managed to speak.
“Baby girl, you weren't able to inform me of the kind of job you got and I promise I had been trying to find you everywhere. I even contacted your parents. They said they didn't know where you were. That girl you say that night , she was nothing but a one night stand. There's really nothing going on I promise. An unknown number called me claiming to know where you are and that you've started a new life with a rich business man, but trust me babe I didn't believe a word he said.lets just get this over with and go home. Please.”
Mandy was not home, so was Daniel. It was only me and Gavin in this house . I hesitated a bit before I spoke . A lot of things I wanted to say to him clouded my mind.
I wished Mandy was home. He wouldn't have had the gut to confront me. I was only a weakling compared to Mandy.
" Maybe that's why they keep playing me"
“It was just a one night stand? So I want enough for you afterall. I gave you everything. I gave you my love, my virginity, my heart , everything you ever aked for and this is how you repay me, No , I really don't deserve this, no woman does”, I replied quickly but stern.
“I am so sorry. I promise I'll make it up to you and this will all be history. Just come with me”
“No, I refuse to lower my standards because of you. To err is human, but you've gone too far. You cheated in our home, on our matrimonal bed!”
“I know and I'm very sorry. I know I f****d up, I really do.”
“I would really love it if you took your leave. I need to prioritize my peace. Sure I know you're sorry and I have to admit I still love you, but that doesn't change the fact that you were infidel. I forgive you all right, but I need space to from our marriage.”
“No problem. I'm only just a phone call away if you need me my love.”
He dropped of some flowers and left.
I stared at the flowers blankly.
“Oh no” I was supposed to set my priorities straight, now I made him feel like he has my whole heart . What have I done?
I loved the attention I was getting from the both men I had only ever loved. But I was taking a big risk.
One mistake could ruin everything.
As much as I didn't lie, I still loved him, I loved Darwin too. The both men have my heart, but I am in love with Darwin more.
Gavin kept sending me gifts and luxury cards to prove his love for me. On the other hand, I returned back to work after my self given leave. I began to see Mr Darwin more. I would sneak into his office to make out with him. I loved his presence.
It gave me a kind of peace I would like my kids to have in a man they called their dad.
I had been working for some time now. I managed to sneak out of the office and headed for Darwin's.
The workers had started to get used to my presence in their workplace but Edward was not too comfortable.
I met Darwin struggling with some files. He saw me and left them. He caressed my cheeks carefully.
Edward walked in on us leaning in for a kiss. He banged some files on the table to distract our attention. I turned to look at him but Darwin didn't care.
”Edward get out!”, he said to him, which pissed Edward so much. He hated the fact that some girl would try to snatch his best friend away from him.
He gave me an irritated look. I didnt need anyone to tell me. I knew he was pissed, very pissed.
I head out for my office and Edward followed me. People saw us together and the press started a rumor about the both of us having an affair. Different kinds of rumors kick off on the Internet. Some labelling me as a concubine, others as his fiance.
On an interview with Darwin with the press, he denies the relationship going on between ma and him and this shatters me to pieces.
He states that he wouldn't risk his business name to be with a lowly girl like me.
"She's not worth it", he muttered with a cold face. My heart shed to pieces.
"How can two men break me at the same time, is that even possible?"
People started to talk. I could hear some voices.
"She's a harlot"
"Poor guy, she had probably been torturing and harassing him"
" She's a demon".
" Sue her!!"
" It's always the pretty one, look how stupid she looks now"
"Acting all innocent harlot?", one of them shouted.
I knew everything was over. I had finally ruined everything.
"I shouldn't have been with him in the first place"
I began to regret everything. What was my husband going to think of me now.
" So I'm the infidel now"The thought of that sent cold chills down my spine. I was supposed to be the victim here. How did I even get here.
I stood blankly looking lost. I felt the countless cameras struggling to get my face. I needed to get out of her. Things were getting out of hand.
Admist everything going on, I managed to run away.
The week following that was hell. Of course, everyone wanted to have a piece of the lowly girl forcing herself on the renowned Mr Darwin.
I sat at the edge of my old, dusty appartment. I looked at the creaking ceiling. It sounded like it needed help. As I struggled to take a second look at the ceiling, Mandy call interrupted.
"Hey Ellie", she said with the calmest voice ever.
She had surely heard the latest news in town.
"Umm..Ellie are you there?"
" Oh hi Mandy, sorry about that, I couldn't help but think about my life" " Mandy how did I get here?"
I started to sob.
" I've ruined everything, I think I should just go back home and live with my parents"
" Eliora I understand your frustration, but the deed has been done. Let's just focus on control measures for what has happened. You should that you are trending online"
" Oh I know that Mandy"
"Good. I think that you should avoid going to public places for now. We need things to settle down quickly first. If you must my dear, like for coffee or general necessary outings, wear face covering clothes. I'll involve the police if necessary but babes don't just allow this issue to get to you "
"Everybody makes mistakes my love. When all this is over, my dear I think you should work on getting things right with Gavin"
" I thought you were team Darwin?"
" Yes dear, I still am but it was not right to see his wife on national television accused for cheating. That's not what is most important now. The priority is your safety. Please stay safe bestie. I'm a phone call away if you need anything, mmwah "
" What if he calls?", I said with my voice shaking
" Ignore the call babes, you already have a lot on your plate"
"Thanks Mandy, you're the best"
I tried to hide myself. Everywhere I went I was recognized.
Nothing was working.
