CHAPTER 3: COMING TO AN AGREEMENT
Eliora's POV
“I need a Job, thats why I'm here”, I said quickly. He appeared to not listen to anything I said.
“Come in”, he finally muttered after a while of silence. We both settled down. The place was beautiful, it was his personal office after all. The silver wall sparked and the view from the office window was beautiful. I couldn't help but admire the view for a few seconds
“You like the view?”, he asked.
“I need a Job since you’re the reason I lost my job”, I replied almost immediately.
“Whoa, so you're a tough one huh”, he smirked.
Of course I was a tough one , I wouldn't want to lose my senses to his beauty so I had to act tough.
“Fine, I'll offer you a choice”,”How would you like to be the new manager of your sly company”
I was shocked. How do I reply? I didn't know
“Well, yeah sure” I said.
“So u like it then, consider it done. I already sacked your manager and arrested him and his fake lawyer. As we speak, they are already rotting in prison. I also contacted headquarters and recommended you as the new manager.”
“Wait, what! You have that much power?”
He got up from his seat and headed towards me. He caressed my hair playfully and leaned in closer.
My heart was racing.” Eliora, I've always loved you”
“How did you know my name”
“That doesn't matter”
He kissed me, I kissed him back and then he pulled in for a long kiss.
Edward walked in on us and let out a wide gasp.
“Aren't you married?”, he asked
“I don't see how that's your business”, I replied.
I went back to the office where I had already been announced as manager. My colleagues threw me a small get-together party and congratulated me on my appointment as the new manager.
I was now staying over at Darwin’s. It turns out that before my boss was arrested, he started a rumor with my husband about a secret affair going on between I and Mr. Darwin.
I ignored the rumors and stated my clear aims as the director of the firm. My colleagues were hardworking and they made my work very easy.
Around 12pm in the middle of my work hours on a faithful day , I received a call from my parents, Mr and Mrs. Adam. They informed me that my present marital state was making them sick.
The emphasised on the fact that I was in the middle of an important situation. That I should think of Gavin as a saviour brought to my life. They talked and talked aboutur how I was letting them down, I should just return home and apologize to Gavin. They said that a beautiful woman like me was not born to be a divorcee.
Apparently, Gavin had called them and confided in them that though he cheated, it was the work of the devil, he was very sorry and loved me so dearly. He pointed out that he had been trying to reach me since the previous week, but to no avail.
They stated that they had planned my life so perfectly and they weren't going to allow my stupidity ruin it all. They weren't going to allow me bring shame unto them.
I cut the call. I had heard enough
“What sought of parents are these”, I sobbed to myself. I knew they took me for a weakling but I didn't know it had reached a level such as this.
My “God sent husband” had cheated on me and instead of consoling me, they blame me for everything. Accuse me of denying him my marital duties and threaten me to return to him.” Are these really my parents”
I broke into tears. I needed space from everything and everyone. I headed for Mandy's house.
Throughout the drive there, I couldn't help but regret everything. I shouldn't have allowed my parents to force me into this marriage.
No the marriage didnt work and they are still demanding grandchildren from me.
I wanted kids, yes I did, but not just from Gavin. Maybe Darwin would be a better father.
In the middle of my thoughts, I noticed the bus had passed the stop that led to my bestie's house. I stopped anyways and found my way back to her stop by foot.
By the time I got there, I was exhausted.
I walked into the living room and settled down on the chair. Without a word I broke into heartfelt tears.
I could hear their voices coming from upstairs. They were obviously having an affair.
“Manddhie , I'm home”, I called for her with my voice breaking from sorrow .
I could trust her. She had been my best friend since forever.
Their moans reminded me of the love me and Gavin once had. He was a good man to me. He bought me gifts, took me on dates on a private island, always made sure I got whatever I wanted, but isn't that the bare minimum .Why did he cheat? I started crying again
Mandy rushed up to me and hugged me tightly. The both of us cried for hours as Daniel just stood there confused. I told her everything that had been happening.She adviced me to set my priorities straight and settlee with the one I truly love.
That was the problem. I was unsure of the one I truly love .
"But I love the both of them"
" You can't love two at the same time Ellie, you ought to love one more"
"But... But what if I..."
" You know what Ellie, lets change the topic", she said as she offered me a seat beside her.
We discuss about her upcoming wedding over pizza and we catch up on all we've missed our without each other.
There was a knock on the door.”Who is there?”, I shouted as I reached for the door.
“It's me”. The voice was
faint. I opened the door and it was him.
It was my Godsent husband, Gavin.
I looked at him as tears flowed through my eyes.
