Loss
Annamay could see the pain in her adoptive sisters eyes and she was heartbroken. Nine Months had passed since Roses' daughter Renee passed away and most of the time Annamay watched as her sister refused to eat or drink. Once they managed to get her past that point they had to watch her carefully because of the suicide attempts. Now Rose was just sad and most nights she had nightmares that ended in crying fits. Annamay was patient with her sister, after all no one loses a child, and one so young as Renee had been at that, without feeling empty, broken, and lost. She knew she had to do something though, because, if things didn't change they were only going to get worse.
Ro...Annamay called out to her sister as she approached her where she sat on the bed. Rose looked up at her sister with tears in her eyes. yes she responded. Ro do you think it would help you if Renee wrote you some letters from heaven? Annamay asked cautiously. Rose felt her own eyes go wide and despite the fresh tears that slid down her cheeks she smiled and said ; I think it would and I would like that very much. That's it all started. The letters, the stories, and Renees' great adventures in the strange world that would become Roses' image of heaven.
Dear: Rose,
I am Renee. To be more precise I am your daughter. First of all I miss you. Second of all I can't wait to tell you all of the really cool things that I get to do up here. The Angels say that heaven doesn't look the same for everybody because of the special ability that they have called Magic. They are able to make everything look different for everyone. My heaven has pink clouds with dark blue skies shining with light blue colored Stars and there are three different colored doorways that lead to three different worlds where I can have adventures. They call the doors portals. Oh the angel said you might be worried about that so I needed to tell you something important. Here in heaven babies don't stay babies unless they want to. They tell us when we get here what each age group gets to do and we pick what age we want to be. We are also assigned a guardian to look after us. The guardians are other people who came to heaven before us. My Guardians name is Alexander. I'm not allowed to tell you what each group does but I can tell you what mine does because the angels said it was okay. I chose the eight to sixteen age group. I am eight and Alexander is thirteen. Our group gets to go on any adventure we want. That's all I have time for today. Next time I will have an adventure story to tell you.
Love, -Renee-
