My mind raced as I held my phone in my hand, the screen was slightly broken but it still functioned properly, I was waiting for the stranger’s next message so I could calculate my next move but I got nothing.
I watch till sunset and still nothing.
When it was fully evening, there was a bit of discomfort I began to feel and I only know a walk around the outside of my precious household would help greatly, basking in that cool breeze and feeling it romance with my skin was just what I looked forward to.
“Are my kids asleep?” I asked one of the maids that were working.
“They are, ma’am. Leo is currently studying but Carmela is asleep,” The lady answered before she left.
Knowing that well, I went ahead to enjoy the outside, sniffing into the air, I wasn’t expecting to have a cigar stench sting my nose like that. Someone had the audacity to smoke in my garage.
I traced the smell and you just couldn’t believe who it was?
“Why are you smoking around my house?” I questioned Seth from behind, there was no response from him, so I stepped closer towards him and ask again, “Why are you smoking in my house?”
Yet again, no response.
I only realized later that had earphones in his ear and was barely listening to a word I had said. I aggressively pulled out the earphones from his ear and threw it to the ground, stepping on it. “Now you can hear me,”
Seth offered me a death stare one that couldn’t diminish from his eyes, he said nothing, just watched me scold him for doing such audacious things.
“What if one of kids saw you smoking? And they suddenly picked up such behaviour from you?” I questioned him, my face bashed with anger, “Can’t you talk?”
“I was off the clock,” Seth defended himself.
You heard him right or was it just me… What does been off the clock has to do with him smoking around the vicinity of my! What sort of insolence is this?
I took a step back trying to process what he just because I guess I didn’t hear correctly, “Is that all you have to say? You are smoking in my house! And the next thing is you were off the clocked,” I whined trying my best to mimmick his voice and give him a clear example of how he sounded like. “I must say that you will be the first person to get fired just a day after getting a job,”
Seth exhaled as he rolled his eyes at me. He was easily giving off this I don’t care what you have to say sort of behaviour which I must say was pretty much getting on my nerves.
“Go in and pack your bags, I shall have my accountant send you your full month salary,” I said as I prepared to storm off but was easily taken off-guard.
He retorted with a drawl, “Ma’am, I don’t exactly work for you,” his right eyebrow raised as he turned to look at me, smoking his cigar in front of me before dropping it on the ground and puffing it.
I stared him from that cigar he threw to the ground up to his face, “You can’t be actually serious,” I sniggered.
Seth was unhinged as he shrugged, “Go ask him, he would confirm it for you. He offered me a year contract to drive him but when I came I was told I was going to be driving you instead and I don’t drive women,”
I scoffed, “So you are a misogynist as well, how pleasant,” I said as I folded my arms.
“Point of correction, I am not whatever you just referred to me as, I would never. Now that’s cleared, I don’t drive women for obvious reasons, like yesterday, I hated the way you spoke to me, it wasn’t nice but I didn’t complain—”
“So I should apologize?” I asked him almost laughing my lungs out but controlled myself, I can’t make him look stupid… yet.
“I am not saying you should apolo—”
“Oh so how do you expect that I speak to you? With respect?” I chuckled, “Please be serious and thanks for making me laugh, do pack your things, whatever agreement you had with my husband, consider it cancelled, I shall speak to him personally about what you did today and we would take actions but I can’t guarantee that you will have a job by tomorrow,”
My phone beeped twice and I knew who it was, knowing quite well that I could no longer engage him, I slowly tried to leave. Seth didn’t seem to care as he just went inside his apartment.
I clicked on the message and a stream of threatening messages flowed. I just needed a place to read it all to myself.
“Have you gotten my money?”
“You have just six hours left before I expose to the world the sham of a marriage you are in and ow the precious family of yours everyone admire and pleases you is just a plain façade,”
“You are simply just a desperate woman who is covering her husband problems by just been picture perfect to the media. When I expose you, I will get a lot of media houses calling for my attention and I will be cashing out good,”
The messages didn’t stop and I had no choice but to call the number, there was no response.
“Don’t call me b*tch! Call me again and I will send these hot pictures on my phone to one of the media houses,”
I read all this and was afraid, it has been quite long since I have been attacked this that it hit a nerve, whoever this woman is she surely has some kind of beef with me that I am not aware because why on earth will she want to see me crumble.
Oh Michael, what have you done to me…
I text her back, “I shall speak to my husband and whatever we decide, I shall let you know,”
“Clock is ticking, tick tock… your call because you have got just six hours left,” the stranger left another message.
“I might need more time, Michael is sleeping now but when he awakes I shall speak to him personally,” I replied.
“Lol… Don’t think I am going to offer you an extra minutes, get me my money in the next six hours or be prepared for what comes next,”
