My life.
"Yhesa, it's lunch time I've finished cooking, come here let's eat." my mom shouted as she try to cover the piercing rays of sunlight on her face. It's broad daylight and i guess she forgot to use her paddy hats to blocked the sunlight.
"Yes mom coming, I said tying to tie the cucumber stem I'm already holding.
I'm a daughter of a farmer. Everyday if we don't have school you'll find me at the garden. Doing whatsoever to help my parents.
Weeding, planting, puting fertilizer etc.. anything that could be done in the farm. It's like a cycle for me, in school days i have gone to school, in the weekday's I'm at home doing homework but sometimes I'm at the farm again.
Vacation... if they say vacation I don't know what to feel. Should I be happy? For others, my classmates gets exited for they already had plan what they will do on those days while me. What to expect?
Cause it's not a vacation for me, for school sure but a real vacation isn't in my vocabulary anymore. It's a hello to the farm everyday. That's where my vacation days goes.
That's how my life revolves. But what can I do we aren't rich. It's always "if you will not work where would you get food". I'm already used to this kind of mindset.
I stared at my hand after rinsing it with water. Washing off the traces of some dirts and stain I have got from the cucumber plant. It's not a typical hand for a girl unlike they other girls hand, it's soft, smooth and eye pleasing it's the opposite of mine rough and caloused.
There were times I think about life I always say to myself it's ok to be here, there were people out there striving harder more than i do but deep inside I always have whys. Why can't we have the living like others have? Why can't I have the privilege to buy this? Why can't I just live the life I wanted to. As time passes by it's getting hard and harder for me.
I want to have the living other girls my age have, the time they have to do their hobbies, the money they have for luxuries. I always been fighting this kind of mindset I have, cause at the end I'll see myself crying at night, anytime I feel like so lost, so tired.
That's why at a young age, I always dream to be successful someday in the future. I always dream to be stable, have the means to buy something I really love.
To have the means of getting the degree i wanted without considering money.
In the midst of everything I still hold on.
Hope that someday my life could be better, that tomorrow would grant my wish.
If that tomorrow comes maybe I'll be one of the happiest. But I would be?
...
"Xiara, what did you put in here?" my best friend ask as she showed me the enrollment forms of her. We're in our last year in highschool and it's not like the other school that was in the city. We are in the province, my hometown.
It's a good thing I'm still with my best friend this school year.
I try to help her with our forms and after some time where done. We passed our paper and storm out the room.
We walk around the school as we try to roam and see the little improvements, the new paint it had on the walls, the seemingly glowing plants on the sides and the clean isle.
Were really back to school in a few days.
This has been our school since junior years till now. I was supposed to transfer to the city for this senior high but things happened and add financial problems. I'm stuck here again, luckily my friend was also with me.
Mica, she has been my friend from elementary days. She still haven't figure out what she wants to pursue for college that's why she's here with me.
We have talked about our life after this school year. And I realized were really facing adulthood. Were now soon face the real world.
What waits for us? What's in the future ahead of us?
