We watched as the girls took off to the woods. My Keri looked back with a sorry but apologetic eyes. She quickly met back up with Alicia and they were gone. I turned to look at my best friend and Beta with a sad expression on his face and mine.
“Hey Lucas, are you ok man?” I clapped him on the back hoping to help him. I gave him another moment to pull himself together. He just looked so shocked. Finally I have had enough. I turned him and faced him and said, “Dude snap out of it. I know she ran away from you. But she did not reject you. So until she comes and talks to you, try not to be worried. Let’s go deal with some pack business, and we will come back out with breakfast. Maybe the girls will be back by then.”
Two hours later we come back out to where Lucas and Keri train. W
