Rachel looked over at Alec. “It’s good to see you’re alive, Beyett.” Their eyes met. “Got lucky this time, didn’t you?”
“I guess you could call it lucky.” He shrugged. There was no reason to tell her what really happened. “Jennell in her room?”
“Should be, but she doesn’t want visitors.”
“That’s tough.”
Without waiting, Alec made his way over to the door with Kaisa right beside him. “Alec…” Rachel was there just before he had his hand on the handle. “You know better than to just walk into Jennell’s room.”
“It’s okay, Rachel.” Jennell’s voice was just loud enough to be heard through the door. “I’m willing to talk with Alec and Kaisa. Let the two of them enter.”
