Where Vin stood watching with a smile, he quickly remembered the letter, and he fished it out of his robe. He approached the Valan Emperor, and presented it, speaking, "Your Majesty. This was given to me to deliver to you by my Uncle." Taking the letter from Vin, the Valan Emperor scrutinized it, but didn't open it. He simply nodded, and Vin bowed before turning back to Milo and Jem.
Jem spoke with a wide grin, "come, I will take you to your rooms." He led the way out of the palace, and Vin followed, with several of his guards trailing behind them. Jem walked excitedly while holding Milo's hand. Vin couldn't stop the tiny smile that grew on his face. It was clear how much Jem had missed the child. He kept asking what Milo ate everyday, and what he learned from Princess Suran.
