Chapter Twenty-Eight I gasped as the gas touched my already cold body. I whimpered and shivered into the metal bars. The girl in the next cell over holding onto me for support. I felt so helpless. I had one chance, and I blew it because I allowed my mind to wonder. I allowed the darkness to creep in and block out the light. I closed my eyes, allowing memories of the hot sun to filter through my mind. Going to the beach as a kid, feeling the sand on my feet as I raced towards the water. I held onto this memory and replayed it over and over. I won’t forget, I won't allow myself too. A faint sound from above caught my attention.
