Death Scene

I couldn't believe my eyes, no it couldn't be. I couldn't believe I'm even awake, this has to be a nightmare. Blood covered the floor like a red silk paint. The pungent smell of death, lingering in the air. “Granny..." I whimper carrying the unresponsive body in my arms. Tears clogged my eyes, a lump formed in my throat. She just slumped in my hands drenched in her own blood. The blood thick and silky, between my fingers, almost cold. The knife deep wound in her chest, barely any blood flows now. Why? Who would do such thing? I cry, without answers. Stormi howls and whimpers in sadness. She didn't take this any better than I did. My heart shuttered into a thousand pieces, hoping to wake from this nightmare. It couldn't be. And I couldn't do anything about. I felt so useless and helpless. All I could is hug her body, and cry. Hoping for a miracle. “Granny... Granny please wake up," I cried but nothing happened. It's been almost an hour now, I shouldn't expect anything to happen, but I did. Her pale weathered voice, didn't even twitch. Blood oozing out of her mouth, almost dried. She was dead. She was gone, and someone did this. They left her in the pool of her blood to die. It was already cold, telling me it happened long before I arrived. But why? “Amber we have to go," I hear Stormi. To where? I can't go without knowing who did this. “We can't leave her like this..." I cry looking at her lifeless frame. She deserved better than this. “There's nothing we can do now. And what if those people who killed her come back," she says. Then if they come back I'm ready to fight them. I'm ready to make them pay for what they did. “ Then I'll be ready for them. This is my grandma we are talking about. She didn't deserve this," I tell Stormi but she's persistent. “I know you feel hurt. But think about it, Amber. What there's too many of them. Granny is a warrior, and there isn't even a slightest sign of her fighting back. Do you it's just coincidence? If we want to make them pay for this, we have to be smart about it," she tells me. I hate it when she's right, which is always. “Where will we go? A storm will hit soon," I say to her. The weather outside, wasn't any friendly. Clouds already piling up, bringing darkness. “ I believe we saw a hotel on our way here. It shouldn't be far. I'm sure we can walk the distance," she says. Carefully I place granny's body on the floor. “ And what should we do with her body. We can't just leave it here," still looking at the body with sadness. “We can bury her body in the garden. Then we leave. We'll have to do it quickly," Stormi advises. I start searching around the house for a possible shovel. To my demise, everything in the house is still perfectly in place. Nothing seem to be moved or broken, from a fight. Could they be so strong that granny didn't even stand a chance? " So this was no break in. And who this is, they wanted granny dead. But why? “ I communicate to Stormi who's silently inspecting the space. " That's what we'll have to find out. And make who ever did this, “ she growls drowning in her own rage. I sigh, as I step outside to the small cottage. Where I find the shovel and, other tools. I start digging a hole about big enough to fit her. My heart dropped my knees, the more I thought who this hole is for. The most important woman in my life. They only one who cared about me, and never treated me like worthless trash. When I we were both satisfied with the hole I went back to the house. I couldn't stop crying, tears burning my cheeks. I couldn't bear the pain of accepting that someone I love is gone. I feel my knees getting weaker, as I carry her further into the garden. Giving in to the pain, I couldn't move forward. My clouded eyes could barely see, and my weak body struggle under her weight. “I know you're hurt Amber, but you have to do this. I need you to be strong. For granny," Stormi tries to encourage me, but her words if encouragement are just not enough. “I can't," I whimper, dropping down with the body in my hands. I couldn't do it, my torn heart didn't want to. Knowing I don't have the strength, Stormi takes over my body and I slip away into the darkness. Where I would love to be, for as long as, I don't know. I didn't want to be back to this world, to only meet pain. I didn't understand why there's always pain in my life. Why I couldn't be completely free? What am I being punished for? As it seems, pain is part of my life, I can't escape it. Though what is it that makes me deserve all this? I had all the questions but no answers. When Stormi gave me access to my body again, I'm standing in front of the small grave covered in fresh soil. My intestines twist and twirl, my heart clenches in pain. “Let's go," I instruct looking away. I didn't want to be here anymore. I didn't even want to be in this world anymore. “ But you have to change your clothes first," Stormi reminds me of my blood stained clothes. I agree, and went back to my bag to freshen up. Frantically searching through my things, removing my bloody clothes. Trying so hard to remove the blood stains smeared my face and soaked my hands. I wrap the clothes, going back in the house to burn them in the fireplace . I waste no time, getting to leave as I'm rushing against the storm. I can already smell the rain in the air, the window violently shaking everything. It's sad I didn't even get time to clean the blood. “We'll come back when you're ready, to burn the body, and see what we can find. For now, we just need to lay low, “ Stormi, says. I start dragging my bags, out of the farm. Into the dirty road that lead to the town. We hurry as possible, as the storm nears. It was cold, but Stormi made me resistant to the weather. But I still didn't want to see myself in the middle of a storm. The cold dusty and wind hitting against my face, almost to push me into the opposite direction. The small forest circling the area, moving violently with the wind. It's leaves being tossed back and forth into the road. When we reach the town, the rain had started pattering. But I could at least see the hotel. I rush inside before I could get anymore wet. I sigh relief, as it mean at least I was able to escape the storm. It's not big, as in the city, but still looks good. There's much natural light inside, and looks perfectly clean. I walk to the receptionist desk, greeting the young lady with a smile. “Good afternoon mam. How may I help you?" She greets with a welcoming smile. " Good afternoon. I need a room for a few days, “ I respond almost out of breath from rushing. " Yes we have rooms available, how long will you be staying?" She questions typing into her computer. “ Please make it a week," I tell her. Even though I have a feeling I might have to stay a bit longer. “May I see your ID? “ She inquires. " Of course," I reach out to search for my purse. But to my shock I can't find it. I search everywhere, but nothing. “Stormi we have a problem. I can't find my purse. How are going to pay for the room?" I cry out to my wolf. “Damn. We must have dropped it when you were changing your clothes," she paces deep in thought. “ But we can't go out there. The storm," she reminds me. I sigh looking back to the young lady. “ I'm sorry mam. But I can't seem to find my purse..." “I understand, but I'm sorry I won't be able to help you. According to our policy -" “I understand," I cut her ready to leave. I knew it won't change anything causing this lady trouble. Now, it's just me against the storm I guess. Maybe we'll find another place, and come back to the restaurant tomorrow. “If then we go to the storm you have to shift. At least find a safe place to do that," Stormi instructs. “I'll be able to withstand the storm," " Put everything under my name, “ I heard a husky voice behind me, whilst simultaneously someone grabs my hand stopping me on my tracks. " Alpha Asher? “ Almost too late the familiar scent, followed by a familiar face unfolds.
