Dylan's POV:
I went to a party, but that wasn't a good idea. Since then, I have a memory loss. I know that I drank some alcohol. That's it. I don't know what happened after that. I remember seeing Jackson and Christina. Alice was with Loren. I did talk with the girls for some time. I had to stay with Loren while Alice was gone. After that, everything is a blank space. The problem is that I lost something important. It was a necklace with an engraved picture of my dog. Technically, the dog was to my grandparents. When they died, I took care of the dog until it passed away. That's why I decided to make this. The necklace is not expensive. Let's say that it has sentimental value for me. Walton died two years ago, but I want to keep the memory of his existence. I have to say that he died because he was old. I remember playing with him when I was little. After all, he was a good dog. That's why I am mad at myself for losing this. I can always make another necklace, but that's not the point. Honestly, I don't know how it happened. I always wear it everywhere, even when I go to shower. I mean, I don't take it off. That means I must have done it. The question is when and where I have put it. Well, I don't know who to ask. The only person who knows about this is Jackson. I don't think he has it. The biggest problem is that I don't remember the last time I saw it on me. I can ask a few people in school, but I prefer not to do it. I don't want everyone to know about this. It's not a secret, but as I said, it has sentimental value for me. I'm sure it will appear. That thing can't disappear like that. I probably put it somewhere. The problem is that I don't know where. I hope that I will find it soon. After all, that is the only thing that I have from Walton. I miss this dog.
It has been a week since I went to that party. I still don't remember what happened. Well, I'm sure I drank alcohol. Otherwise, I won't have such a huge memory loss. The problem is that I have no idea how much I drank. I guess it was enough to make me do things. Let's hope that I didn't do anything horrible. I don't want to see a video of me online doing things. I think everyone drank, so the people there won't remember anything. I like parties, but I prefer to stay clean. That will be my lesson for the next time I go to one.
Currently, I am lying on my bed. It's Saturday, but I don't have plans. I thought to call Loren, but I gave up. Lately, she has been changing her moods. I mean, she is ok when we talk through FaceTime. In person, the shy Loren is beating the calm one. I will leave her for now. I walked downstairs for food. Dad was there eating. Mom is probably out. Well, she needs some rest as well. I took a bowl of cereal and sat down.
- How are you today?
- I have been better.
- Are you still worried about the party? It has been a week.
- It's not that.
- Hey, you will find it.
- I don't know. The problem is that I don't remember where I put it.
- Is it possible that someone stole it?
- What? No. That can't happen. I always wear it. If someone stole it, they must have taken it from my neck. That can't happen.
- You can ask someone from the party if they remember something.
- Dad, Jackson is the only one who knows about this.
- In that case, I don't know how to help you.
- It's ok. It will appear one day.
- What will you do today? The weather is nice. You can go out.
- I don't know. I'm not in the mood for that. By the way, where is mom?
- She went out with some friends.
- God for her. What will you do?
- The same as her. I have to go out after half an hour.
- So I will be alone?
- Yes. Enjoy your time. I have to go and get ready.
- Ok, thanks, dad.
After some time, I decided to go out as well. I have nothing to do at home. I took what I needed and walked out. I don't have a plan. That's why I will walk around. I went into a diner for a drink when I saw Jackson. He was alone. I don't want to talk with him, but we should fix our relations.
- Hey, Jackson.
- Dylan. I haven't seen you in a while. What are you doing here?
- I came for a drink.
- Alone?
- Yes, why?
- You are always with Alice and Loren.
- Well, I am alone today. What about you?
- Christina is in the toilet.
- Now it makes sense.
- What do you mean?
- This girl will never leave you alone. Can I know why you blocked me?
- What? I didn't block you.
- Are you sure? I called and texted you multiple times. Then Loren noticed my messages couldn't get sent because you blocked me.
- I didn't. Hold on. This b*tch! I will kill her. I'm so sorry about that. Here. I'll unblock you.
- So you didn't do it?
- No, why would I do that? I thought you were mad at me. That's why you didn't call.
- Jackson, you are my best friend. I wanted to know what is going on with you.
- Dylan. What are you doing here? - Christina asked
- Why did you block him from my phone?
- What? I don't know what you are talking about right now.
- Drop the act and answer the question. Why did you block Dylan?
- I didn't do it.
- Saying the opposite proves that you are guilty.
- What? That's not true.
- I came to you and the girls because I thought you could change. I wanted to distract you. That way, you won't hate Loren. I mean, you wouldn't make Dylan stay away from her. I don't know why you blocked him, but it wasn't good. I thought he was mad at me. I betrayed my best friend because of you.
- Why are you talking to me like that?
- Because you are a b*tch. That's why. I want you to leave Dylan and me. Also, if you bother Alice or Loren, you will get it back.
- Whatever. You are a loser like these two. - Christina said and left
- I'm sorry about everything.
- It's ok. I'm not mad at you.
- Hey, where is the necklace with the dog?
- I lost it.
- What? You never take it off.
- I don't know what happened. I realized it was gone in the morning after the party.
- What happened there?
- I have no idea. I know I drank something. That's it. Everything else is a blank space.
- Is it possible that you gave it to someone?
- Maybe, but I don't think so. You are the only one who knows about this.
- Good luck, then. I'm sure it will appear soon.
- Do you want us to go for a walk?
- Yeah, sure.
Both with Jackson took our drinks and walked out. I wanted us to go to sit somewhere. Then an idea came to me. We can go to our place. I took Loren once, but with him, it's always better.
- I haven't been here for a long time.
- I did.
- When did you come?
- One day with Loren.
- You took her to our place? Why?
- Because I wanted to. You weren't here, and I didn't want to be alone.
- No girls here.
- Speaking of that. You have to talk with Alice.
- Don't start.
- She heard what you said that day in the boy's room.
- I don't want to hear.
- Let me finish. Alice heard what you said that day in the boy's room and got upset. You hurt her feelings.
- I didn't do anything.
- Yes, you did. Jackson, you had fun with her that day. She thought it was real. Then you acted like all the time you have been pretending. Do you know how she felt? You have to talk with her and fix everything.
- How?
- I don't know. At least apologize. Make Alice understand that you feel sorry.
- Ok, I will. Thanks, man. Do you know where she lives?
- No. I'm sorry. Once, I walked to Alice's house, but I don't remember the address. I was following her. Why don't you text her?
- I will. What is going on between you and Loren?
- Nothing. We use FaceTime to talk and study.
- Why?
- She is shy when we talk in person.
- You are Dylan Myers. I'm sure you can deal with that.
- Not much. I want to ask you something.
- Go on.
- Is it true what you said to Christina? You were with her as a distraction.
- Yes. This girl was going after Loren and Alice. You wanted to talk with them, so I had to do something.
- Thanks, man. I appreciate it.
- No problem. I will text Alice. Wish me luck.
- You don't need it. I know the girl will accept.
- Why?
- Sixth sense.
- If you say so.
I left Jackson to deal with his problem and called Loren. I don't know what she is doing, but I'm sure she can have some free time for me. As I expected, she tried to deny it. Luckily, I am prince charming. Not really, but I convinced her. I walked to the statue park to wait for her. Soon she came.
- Hey. I'm glad you came.
- It-it's not like I had a choice.
- You can't say no to me.
- I can't. You look in a good mood.
- Because I am. I talked with Jackson and fixed everything. After all, you were right. Christina was the one who blocked me from his phone. My friend had no idea about it until I told him.
- W-what will h-happen now?
- Well, he won't be with her. It turned out that he did all of this for me.
- Really?
- Yes. Now Jackson will talk with Alice and fix things.
- She got hurt.
- I know. That's what I told my friend. I have no idea how this will end, but I feel she will forgive him.
- She will always have feelings for him no matter what he does.
- So, to change the topic. Do you want us to do something? I can't take you to that place again.
- W-why?
- I told Jackson, and he said no girls there. Sorry. - I said, chuckling
- It's ok. I don't mind.
- If you want, we can drink hot chocolate. I already had a drink. Well, I don't mind taking another one.
- Thanks, but I don't want to drink anything. I'm still fresh from the party.
- It's ok. We can do something else.
- C-can we go to the flamingo park?
- Yes, sure. Do you like this place?
- My parents used to take me there when I was little. I haven't been there since I started high school.
- Ok, then. Let's go. I don't think it has changed that much.
- I hope so. I used to play there for hours.
- Let's see what has happened to this place.
Loren and I walked to flamingo park. That is a place made for kids. It's called the flamingo park because there are many flamingos. There were from inflatable ones to statues. Everything was in different shades of pink. I have been here, but it wasn't my favorite place. After all, I am a boy. Soon, we arrived. The view wasn't great. It looks like it got abandoned. The paint was peeling off. There was no sign of the inflatable flamingos. One of the statues got broken. This place looks nothing to what it was before. I looked at Loren and saw that her head was down. Maybe this place meant a lot to her.
- Hey, are you ok?
- Y-yes. I-I'm fine.
- You can talk to me if you want.
- Thanks, but I have nothing to say. - Loren said and went to sit on a bench
- What was your favorite attraction at the park?
- The swing. Dad and I used to come here often when my mom was busy.
- You can take him here again.
- Why? So he can see what a hole this place is? No, thank you.
- I know you have to deal with many things, but if you share with someone, they might help you.
- T-these are m-my battles. I have to f-fight alone.
- Why? Don't you want help?
- No. There is a reason why I am going through this. The fight is mine.
- I don't understand why you are doing everything alone.
- Because I don't want anyone to mess with me. Sometimes, the truth hurts.
- So what? I do want to help you, but you won't let me.
- I won't. You have a best friend. Talk to him. You two need to spend some time together.
- Yes, but right now, I want to be with you.
- Why?
- Because I like spending time with you.
- R-really?
- Yes. If you want, we can go somewhere else. I don't mind.
- Thanks, but I have to go home.
- You always say that. If you don't like that I am around you, say it, and I won't bother you anymore.
- No, it's not that. There are some things that I want to keep private.
- I'm not making you tell me your whole life.
- C-can we t-talk about something else?
- Do you want us to continue with our walk?
- I have to go home. - Loren said and got up
- Wait! - I said and grabbed her hand
- W-what?
- Will I see you again?
- You want to see me again?
- Yes, I do. If you want, we can go out tomorrow.
- I don't know.
- Please, Loren.
- It's better if you call Jackson.
- I want to go out with you.
- But I don't. - she said and left
That was like a bomb. I never expected Loren to tell me this. I said all these things to see what her response would be. It's visible that she doesn't mean what she is saying. I want to know why Loren does all these things. I mean, she is hurting herself. Well, I can talk with Alice about that. It won't be today. I assume she is busy with my best friend. They need to talk and figure out what is going on. I don't think Jackson likes her that way, but he enjoys spending time with her. Maybe the magic will happen by itself. I wish I had such luck. I hope that I will be able to talk with Loren again. I want to know what is going on with her.
