She saved his life, but now, he’s after hers.

"You’re hitting me because of that strange woman who put stitches in you?” Luna Lilith’s voice dripped with anger as she stared at her Alpha.

"All. I. Want.” Fenris’ voice dropped to a hiss as he closed the distance between them, “is for her to learn her place. It doesn't matter how special she thinks she is. She will submit to me!” He growled.

Alpha Fenris does not tolerate disrespect. He is used to total obedience, so when Irene— a strange woman who saves his life, looks him in the eye and defies all his orders, his obsession for control takes a darker turn.

He doesn’t just want her to submit; he will stop at nothing to crush her soul.

1. Abandoned
"No, no, no, I don't want to do this," Irene shrieked, slamming her hands against the headrest. "You have no other option!” Her father barked at her, his voice giving her no room to negotiate. Before Irene could bat her eyelids, the car door flew open and she felt her mother's boots against her buttocks. “You're always bragging about being a nurse," her mother spat, leaning towards the other side of the seat. “So go on now. Go nurse him." "Whaaa--t?" her eyes bulged. With a final kick to Irene’s hip, her mother pushed her boot hard causing Irene to tumble. She landed on the bare grass face first with a thud. "Here's your Medkit, you'll be needing it," her sister—Kate, hurled the bag directly on her back. "Finally! We can have some peace in the home.” "How could---" Irene's voice broke as she turned around to face them. “How could you—” she repeated, choking on her breath as she looked at them. She was desperately trying to hold back her tears. "How— how could you do this to me? I’m your sister!” "Oh, come off it." Her father snapped, gripping the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white. "All we’ve asked from you is for you to do one thing right for this family. Just one thing Irene! If you won't sell your body, use your hands!” Irene’s gaze flickered to the back window. Her eyes gleaned with hope as she turned to her brother, Warren. She knew he wouldn't let them do this to her. He wasn't like the rest of them. "War— Warren," her voice broke with so much hope. But Warren just sat in the shadows with his eyes fixed forward and his jaw locked. "War—Warren?" She choked on her words. "Don't bother," her mother snapped, reaching for the door and slamming it shut. "He knows better than to get in the way. It’s getting dark, Arthur. Move." "Warren!" Irene shouted, her voice louder this time and she started to bang the windows. "Warren, Warren.” She grabbed the rims of the car's tire in desperation, but her dad stepped on the gas and sped off, throwing her to the ground. “Nooooooooo…” She screamed, clutching the strap of her bag until her hands went numb, then she pushed off the ground with bruised hands, her eyes glued to the receding vehicle. "How could they leave me here?" she muttered, scanning the surroundings. She had to find a way out of here, but the map in her head was blank. Subconsciously, she scanned the tree line again. The forest didn't just look thick; it looked weird, a thrill ran down Irene’s spine and she felt goosebumps rise on her skin. "No," she whispered, shaking her head in a slow, jagged motion. "This cannot be happening to me." "Who is there?" a thunderous voice rang through the night. Irene didn't wait to find out, she ran in any direction her feet took her, heading for the thickest corner of the bush. The person started running after her. “I asked—Who. Are. You?” The voice was louder now. Her lungs tightened, the oxygen feeling harsher and hotter. Irene risked a glance over her shoulder—and she instantly regretted it. The man chasing her was huge, he was wearing a big cloak and pieces of clothing she felt belonged on a movie set. "I repeat," the man boomed, his pace barely breaking a sweat while she was gasping. "Who the hell are you? And why are you on my land during the pilgrim curfew?" "f**k," Irene hissed. Her head whipped from left to right as she tried to decide which corner was the best. Sssshhhh The hiss of a silver tipped arrow filled the air as it tore and slit into the man's chest. "Wha—t--- who? Wh— who sent you?" breathless words escaped the man’s mouth. The giant’s voice went breathless. He clawed at the air, his fingers twitching toward the wound before his knees hit the dirt with a force that shook the ground. Beyond the clearing, Irene caught a brief flash of movement—a pair of boots vanishing into the dark. Her medical instincts instantly kicked in, and before she could protest, she was running to the wounded man. "What the hell?" she hissed as she touched the arrow in his chest. Who the hell uses an arrow in this century? "Get your filthy hands off me!" the man groaned, suddenly opening his eyes. Irene rolled her eyes as she touched the arrow, trying to determine how deep it had penetrated. “I said, don’t touch me!” He slapped her hands away from his chest. "I'd rather die than have a worthless omega like you touch me. Now run back to the pack and get my Beta and Healer here, tell them I've been hit by wolfsbane." "Wolfsbane?" her brows rose in shock and her eyes scanned the environment. "What? Is this some sort of movie set? Is that why you're wearing these funny clothes?" "Are you crazy omega?” the man screamed with what little strength he had left. "Are you defying your Alpha's order?" He stared at her, his eyes finding hers in a commanding gaze. "No! I should be the one asking you! So tell me, are you crazy?" her voice rose in worry. "Cuz this isn’t normal. Is this some sort of madness?" "You will do as I command omega!" The man shouted. "Oh keep shut!" She snapped, rolled her eyes and grabbed his hands, pinning them between her stomach and his. She's had her fair share of psychiatric patients and right now she wasn't in the mood to let some crazy man pull her into his grandeur delusions. With her other hand, she pulled the zip of her medkit, pulled out her scalpel, blade and other tools. "What are you doing?" the man asked when he noticed the blade next to the arrow. "Get off me you filthy woman!" She swiftly raised the blade next to the man's eyes. "One more word from you and I'll push the arrow in and leave you here to rot. After all, no one knows I came here." The man blinked his eyes, and for the first time, a tinge of fear crossed his features, but he quickly recovered. "You wouldn't dare." "Try me." She inched the knife even closer to his eyes, aiming the sharp point at his pupils. "Okay, okay!" his voice rose as he surrendered. "Better!" she huffed and withdrew the knife, "but don't try anything funny with me." She turned to the wound and noticed that it was quickly deteriorating. "f**k, I have to debride the area quick, I think the arrow was poisoned." "Yes! you're finally believing me. I told you I was hit by silver, run to the pack and get my healer!" His pupil dilated as he spoke. "Not this again!" She muttered, her voice filled with irritation. "One more word from you and I'll leave you here!" She dipped her hand into the bag, and pulled out a sachet and ampoule. "Yup!" She smiled, "this should work." Without giving him prior notice she pulled the arrow out of his chest. "You witchhhhhh! how dare you?" he screamed in agony. "The arrow's poisoned princess! If I leave it in, you'll die!" She quickly applied pressure on the chest with her hand. "Cut off the edge of your cloak!" she ordered. With a reluctant wince, he cut it off, she hurriedly grabbed it and threw it on the chest, then pressed down firmly on the wound. "Now hold on tight onto that." She ordered. "Who are you? Did you send that killer?" He asked. "Why would I be trying to save you if I wanted you dead?" she rolled her eyes, grabbed his large hand and pressed it against the cloth. With a fast snap, she tore off the sachet, threw his hand off the cloth and poured a substance around the wound. "Give me your little finger!" she commanded. "For what?" He asked. She rolled her eyes, grabbed his hand and poured the substance on his pinky finger, and instantly dipped his finger into his wound. "f**k!!!" he groaned out in pain. "Why'd you do that?" he growled. "Because there's no way I'm touching that much blood without any gloves." "W-wh—-a wh—, what did you pour inside me?" his voice started to fade & dwindle. "Why... why do I feel so..." "Lightheaded?" she arched her brow in concern. "I'm going to… I’m going to kill you." His head snapped to the side and his eyes closed immediately. "What?" Her eyes bulged, "is he seriously asleep?" "Wake up!" she pinched him in the belly, but she got no reaction from him. "Is he... is he dead?" a growing wave of concern rose in her belly and she immediately kicked his legs, trying to get him to wake up. "His pulse, Irene, check his pulse," she muttered as she grabbed his hand and placed three fingers over his radial vein. For a second she felt nothing, then she pressed harder, hoping to get something. "Please be alive, please be alive," she prayed as she pressed even harder, and finally, she felt a faint rush of a beat against her fingers. "Thank goodness," she let out a breath of relief. She took out her scalpel, cut off the decayed skin, then with a suture and a needle holder she closed up the wound. “Done.” She sighed proudly as she stood up, looking at her work with admiration. Once again, she had saved a life, but the sudden silence and sound of crickets in the air reminded her that she was in the middle of nowhere. Her eyes darted around in fear. She bit her lip nervously, her eyes darting between the trees and the man in front of her. Should she leave him all alone and run for her life?
