Running, she thought what it would be like if she stole some family's car and ended up crashing it or causing extensive damage. As a mechanic shop owner, she had sworn to preserve civilian cars, not destroy them. Even with her recent criminal mentality, she couldn't bring herself to do that, not even to gain her freedom. She couldn't hurt innocent people in any way. This cop and Ford Police Interceptor in front of her, on the other hand, were a completely different story. He wasn't innocent; he was the ENEMY. He gave his word and signature to do war against law breakers, knowing the rules of the game. With her vast dislike of po-lice, Clarice had no qualms about engaging him.
