They forgot to guard me! She reached down and snatched the shackles off, threw them clanging down the street and took off at a dead sprint. Both men shouted. She heard their heavy boots running after her, sounds muffled from all the blood rushing through her ears. The pounding cardio pressure was so high it inhibited her performance. Her legs, normally as eager as a race horse's, struggled to thrust her forward, saturated in terror chemicals. The thick jacket resisted the wind, slowing her badly. She unzipped it, slung it off while barely hanging on to the phone, instantly feeling lighter, relieved, picking up speed. She made it about a hundred yards from the van before risking a glance back.
