MARIAM'S POV
I locked my door as I stepped out of my room and checked around to see if any of my neighbors were awake, but they all seemed to be asleep or indoors.
The person who was supposed to sweep the compound today has already done it.
Is great that no one is outside which means,I can go out without greeting every neighbor that I see as it can be a little annoying since I'm already late.
I live in a small compound house with nine neighbors, including the landlord, so imagine my sentiment.
Rushing out of the house, I got to the roadside in no time since the house is right by it. I soon got a minibus, which we often call 'TroTro', and that one too is going right to Accra, where the University is. I boarded the bus as soon as it stopped.
'ahh, thank God, I think today is my lucky day.' I thought as I sit by the window.
The driver started the bus, and I watched the passing houses and shops to take my mind off being late for lectures, also, hoping there's no heavy traffic today.
We got to Circle,a suburb in Accra around 7am even though the traffic is lighter today, from there to Accra is less than five minutes but because of traffic, it will take more than that.
The ringing of my phone, brought me out of my thoughts. I checked to see my best friend, Seyram is the one calling me.
Picking it up, I said " hey"
"yeah, good morning" she said from the other side
"Morning, how are you doing?" I asked
"I'm good, and already on campus, we are about to have a test this morning so, where are you?" she informed and asked me at the same time in a worried tone.
"ohh sh*t, I'm on my way and will be there in 10 minutes, the traffic is not that heavy today but I was late before I got a bus, but I'll be there soon." I told her, trying not to sound nervous. I hate being late for lectures.
"It's ok, just relax, the lecturer is not even in, but it was the course rep who informed us, I'll save a seat for you." she said, aww, she's such a sweetheart. I smiled
"ahh, thank God, and thank you too, I really appreciate that BAE" I said, emphasising on the last word because I know she will snapped at me, since she doesn't like being called Bae by me. She thinks people will be suspicious of us being lesbians, though to my surprise, she just said okay, and dropped the call on me.
"I guess, I should be prepared for my lashes when I get near her on campus." I thought and smile to myself, hopefully, she will be in a good mood today, so as to forget I called her Bae over the phone
