Chapter Fifteen

Jessie's POV

" to what do I owe this honor?" James joked Tricia said she had an urgent matter to deal with and couldn't come. I needed a friend to talk to and James was the only one I could trust for this.

" could you just shut up for a while and drive?"

" Okay, so where are we going?" he said as he drove off

" I think the pack would do, I need some fresh air and your help off cause," I said going straight to the point.

" Okay, is it about work?" he questioned curiously

" no. It's something personal," I said then added after a while as we were getting off of the car, " I think we should take a sit by the lake where there are no people." I suggested and we made our way thereafter we settled comfortably.

" you were saying?" prompted James. I reached for my bag, grabbed an envelope, and handed it to him. He took out the pictures looked at them and raised an eyebrow then cleared his voice

" so you had someone follow him?" he asked then scolded " Jessie, what were you thinking?"

" no, I found these on my office desk the day after someone sent them to my number" I explained while trying hard to hold back my tears " but that's not my greatest concern, I acted out without questioning him I pushed him away And even when he explained everything and tried to smooth things out, I couldn't bring myself to listen, hell I couldn't even look at him I was so ashamed of myself" it was hard to not cry since we were in a public place but I'm sure he could hear my sniffing " I didn't even say anything or try to stop him I just went straight to my room, I left him all to himself. I'm sure he doesn't ever want to see me again," he took my hand and squeezed it

" oh don't worry yourself," he said " I'm sure that he just needs some time to take it all in that's it"

" I hope so, but then why do I feel as if that is not the case?"

" you are a strong woman Jessie, probably the strongest and most courageous I've ever known, and I know that you know crying over your mistakes doesn't change anything. you need to own up to them" he cautioned " I know that you will do the right thing, now enough of that let's go grab some drinks and I'll take you home. Don't think too much about it. It's a small incident that can be solved with communication," he seems good at this stuff

" where did you learn all this stuff from?"

I snickered

" oh shut up alright? I know a lot of things," we bought some drinks and go on our way home it was already around five in the evening. I enjoyed my time with him, he's fun and not judgemental and a good listener too

" you sure you don't want me to put in word for you?" he asked bringing me back from my trance

" ah... no I got this, I think it's better if I handle it on my own" I replied, " there's something else I wanted to ask, what do you think about lucy?" his happy expression had now changed, the smile fell and his eyebrows where now knitted into a frown, which put a lot of questions my head.

" Why do you ask?" he asked in a serious tone

" Nothing I just wanted to know the kind of person she is,"

" be careful with that one, she hasn't done anything wrong but you know what they say the quiet ones can be the most deceiving," he said then started laughing

" did you notice anything weird at the pack?"

" no, you think someone was following us?" I questioned worriedly

" no, I'm just asking. I want you to be careful though maybe someone just wants to come between you"

"it's not like we are officially together or anything maybe I was just silly to be angry and what if he thinks I'm just stupid?" okay now I sound stupid and I hate myself for saying that

" oh please even a newborn can tell there's something there you two just need to accept that," he said

" okay thanks, James has a great night ahead," I said hurried inside

My day with James was productive, now I know what I have to do. I just need some time to think it through so I don't mess it up. When I reached my room I went straight to the bathroom prepared a warm bath and socked myself in replaying the incidents from before and tried to figure out who did this. whoever it is they are going to pay for this, I tried to remember everything that happened but the only person that seemed suspicious was Lucy but I was with her before that happened, the water was becoming cold so I got up, dried myself and prepared for bed. it was around ten in there evening when I had gotten ahold of myself and decided to call Cade my PI

" anything I can do for you boss?" he asked when he picked the call

" yes, I need you to look out for this number for me. I want to know all the details about the owner as soon as possible" I ordered

" okay I'm on it" he said and hung up.

I so going to enjoy what I'll do to whoever did this, they'll know never to mess with what they don't know ever again. I called Tricia and we talked a lot about what's been going on and I was trying to convince her to come to visit me next week since she is taking a vacation and we finally agreed to take a vacation together
