Chapter Six

Ryan's POV

It's been two whole weeks since our little encounter the night of the party and I can't seem to stop thinking about her. She left to visit her parents three days ago and I've been sending most of the documents through email. I feel like she wanted to get away from the mess we made, I don't want to think too much of it. since she's not around I don't have to be at the office all day so I'm meeting with my sister and Tom at lunch today.

" you called me to come all the way here I hope it's not just to see me, I could use some shopping you know," Astrid says as I set my drink on the table

" Don't I at least get a hug? it's been a long time since we saw each other " I say sitting next to her

" so you mess my hair up? no thanks anyway Tom says there's someone who has your pants in a twist " I turn to see Tom shaking in silent laughter " what the hell are you teaching my sister?"

" she's the one that asked " I throw a pillow at him

" what the hell man! I was just telling her the truth "

" But you didn't have to put it like that "

" maybe not but why does it matter she's not a kid anymore " he's right but I'm not about to let him win

" since when?" I question c*****g a brow

" seriously man she's almost the same age as Jessie just a bit younger sure by a few years maybe "

" so Jessie huh?" I almost forgot she's here " that's her name?" she seems so amused

" yeah and she's his boss too can you believe that?" this man is got a very big mouth

" no one asked you, " I say giving him a serious stare " besides that's not what I called you here for "

" What did you call me here for?" Astrid asked sounding irritated this time " if it's about getting our home back I think it's a little too late "

" I don't think it will ever be late you just need to have a good plan," Tom says

" yeah sis he's right if we're going to get our home back we need a plan"

" Okay so what do you suggest?" asked Astrid more attentive this time

" we need to rebuild "

" that's going to take forever. I don't have that much time "

" I know but it's worth it there's no way we're going to overthrow aunt Monic with nothing " my sister is a lot of things but the patient is not one of them. It's going to take a lot of begging to convince her to stick around for a while because I need her for this

" his right Astrid we can't hit that crazy old hug if we've nothing "

" fine whatever," she says rolling her eyes

" in the meantime, you can do anything to keep yourself busy "

" Yeah well I'm out of here," she says standing and heading to her room I know she's my sister but she's crazy as hell all she cares about is fashion and make-up she's been talking about making a partnership with some girl named Brandy I think that's nice for her to want to stand on her own

" you want to go for a drive ?"

" sure man I could use one, it'll give us time to talk "

It's was quiet for a while so I thought to break the silence

" you're awfully quiet man what's the problem?" I asked concerned because it's not like him to be quiet for a long time unless something is bothering him not that he talks too much or anything but he's acting a bit off

" how can I say this " he cleared his voice " remember that night we went to club three months ago?" okay this sounds pretty serious

"Yeah what about it?"

" it's not the night, well this girl Wendy called saying she's pregnant and all "

" Well, congratulations man " my smile dies when I notice his distress " what's wrong man? you don't think it's yours?"

" it's not that, she's not that type of girl I just don't think I'm ready for that yet"

" look man I don't think there's anything to worry about you're a good man I'm sure you'll make a great dad besides I think Wendy needs you to be there for her "

he turns to me and says

" look man that's the thing I don't think I like her that way. yes we hit it for the night but I don't think that can happen again " wow okay I get him now

" being there for her doesn't mean you should date or anything just give her your support and show that you care that is enough "

he sighs then takes a deep breath

" I think I can work with that I just need some time to adjust and get on board," he says a little cheered up

" so how is it going with your boss there by the office? is it awkward?" he says winking I swear this man can change moods faster than a chamelion changes colors

" yeah just a bit we're adults we can be civil "

" so you're trying to say you wouldn't take it out of your pants if you had a chance?" man he's evil

" tell me why I'm friends with you?" I say trying to bite down a smile

" one because you love me, two because I'm the only one who can stand to be around you though I'm not so sure with that little boss around, three because I'll hunt you down if you ever think of running away from me should I continue?"

" no, I get it so let's go order some pizza I'm starving "
