Chapter four “Esther?!” a voice called “Beatrice?!” Esther wasn’t pleased seeing the person standing in front of her. “Is that how to greet your elder sister my dear?” Esther looked at her PA signaling for her to excuse them “Sister? Wow. Beatrice what are you doing here?” moving close to her, Beatrice gave her a peck but Esther didn’t respond “Well, it’s nice to see you again. It’s been what now? Five years?! Anyways I came to check on my company, sorry our company. I’m still the major chair holder and CEO right?! Esther, when are you going to stop this childish attitude of yours? It’s been years already, Catherine is gone and gone for good.” “Don’t you even dare mention my daughter’s name! You seem to forget your place Beatrice, ill remind you then. On the streets in a raining night my father picked up a beggar, cleaned and brushed her up” Beatrice was fuming with anger, she raised her hand to hit Esther but she caught it mid-way “It hurts right? You were and still is a nobody. No matter how you clean a pig, it’ll still remain a pig. Remember that” Esther dropped her hand forcefully and walked out, Beatrice turned to look at her walking away and smirked. ******** Eloise knocked on the door, not getting any response she opened. “Marcus?” she called but got no reply, stepping in she shut the door behind her “Who’s there?” Marcus asked stepping out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist, Eloise froze on the spot starring the chuck of man standing in front of her, he broad shoulders and well-built muscles were a sight any woman would pay to behold, she followed with her eyes the water dripping from his shoulders to his hairy chest downwards. “Eloise” Marcus called The sound of her name brought her back from merry land “I Em… I came to call you for dinner” she swallowed hard and struggled to look at him “Okay?! Tell Elizabeth to bring my food upstairs, I have work” “Work?! I thought you said you came to clear your head and spend time with me?” Eloise asked, putting it on his robe, he replied “Well, it’s an emergence”. “Fine. I’ll ask her to bring it upstairs for you” she spoke storming out of the room. Marcus knew she was angry but staying away from her was for the best, he doesn’t understand himself anytime he’s near her but she’s right; he came here because he missed her, her smile, her voice, her laughter, her very presence was magical but here he was running away from her. He fell flat on the bed, he couldn’t remember the last time he felt this way; no he remembers vividly. The pains came rushing back, sitting up he used his hands to wipe his face; picking up his phone he dialed a number, after ringing for a few seconds the person picked “The picture I sent earlier, find out everything about her” he threw the phone on the bed. Eloise seems innocent, even though she doesn’t remember who she is but he didn’t want to take any chances. ********* “Good evening ma’am” Grace greeted “It’s Madam” Beatrice corrected and handed her bag to Grace “I’m sorry, Madam” she apologized. “Hope dinner’s ready? Call Marcus and tell him to meet me at the dining table” Beatrice ordered. “Madam, he left this morning and said he’ll be out for a couple of days.” Grace spoke moving backwards “He left?! Called the driver” she yelled “Well, Madam he drove the car himself” one could hear the shakiness in Grace’s voice “And none of you bordered calling me. Get me my phone” Grace brought out her phone from the bag, taking the phone from her, Beatrice pushed her out of the way “Get the hell out of my sight. Bunch of idiots” she yelled marching angrily to her room. ******* Marcus felt uneasy within himself, closing his laptop he picked the glass beside it and saw there was no water inside. Standing up he took the tray of food on the bed and left the room. Getting into the kitchen he saw a plate of food covered, he put down the tray and opened the plate, just then Elizabeth walked in. “Good evening Boss” she greeted “whose food is this?” Marcus asked not responding to her pleasantries. “It’s for Miss Eloise” she replied while picking up the tray “She didn’t eat?” he asked looking worried. “No sir, she came back downstairs after calling you and said she no longer had an appetite” Marcus knew he was the reason for the sudden loss of appetite, “Alright. By the way the food was nice” he commended. “Thank you sir but the appreciation should be directed to Miss Eloise, she made dinner not me” Marcus was surprised yet pleased at the information. Starring at her boss as he walked out, Elizabeth knew she could have just kept quiet after saying thank you, after all she doesn’t like Eloise but taking praises for someone else’s work was not her thing. ********** Eloise laid flat on the bed and wondered why she kept thinking of him, the pictured of what she saw earlier was still registered in her brain. But then she couldn’t comprehend why he was behaving that way, one minute he’s nice and sweet, the next minute he cranky. Sitting up she wondered if she was falling for a complete stranger, getting back her memory should be her concern and not a man whose attitude was like the weather. Standing up the headed for the bathroom. A cool shower was what she needed right now. *********** Daniel was in the car with Sarah and junior, “Wouldn’t mum be mad?” Junior asked “She can’t be mad at what she doesn’t know, unless you tell her. Besides we just want to spend time with Marcus or don’t you miss him?” Sarah spoke looking her brother who was seated at the back of the car. “Of course I miss him. And why do you think I’ll go a gossip to mum? I’m not a telltale you now. I’m just scared that’s all” “Son you don’t have to be scared. Your mother wouldn’t find out because Marcus isn’t at the family house” Daniel spoke “Really?! Then where are we going?” Sarah asked “Well, that’s what you both will find out soon” he smiled at them and continued driving.
