Chapter 5: First date

Ruby's POV:

I was happy that almost all of the businesses had profit this year. We only had to help a couple figure out finances and ways to improve the business. I leaned my head back in the chair as I tried to compartmentalize the business meeting and move on to trying to explain the Alpha office to Sean. Ugh, his name even makes me feel all warm inside, and not just sexually.

"Fyre, he isn't our mate. Why is this attraction so strong?" I asked her in my head.

"Don't know, don't care. Take that yummy slab of man to bed!" she purred back at me.

"You weren't ever even that excited for Andre."

"Again don't know, don't care. He will never touch us again, thankfully. So why not move on to our hot new fiance?"

I shut her out as she was not helping my internal question and desires. I finally opened my eyes to see Sean working intently on his notes. I could tell he was trying to learn names, but that was an uphill battle.

"I will be even more impressed if you learn all 2,000 names tonight," I scoffed at him. He looked over at me with his eyebrow c****d up. "I know most of them, but even I don't know all of them, Sean."

"Could've fooled me. The rumors about your Luna skills are insults compared to watching you in person. You didn't even go to any Luna schools."

"Oh, so you looked into me?"

" Who couldn't? Ruby Diego, age 24, 2 beautiful daughters and pregnant. Took over as Luna about a year ago when the former Alpha handed over the title to your fool of an ex-mate. Trained as a doctor at one of the finest medical schools in the country before returning home. Never got a B in her life, and she has won the hearts of werewolves around the world. Yet I feel like nothing compares to being here with you in person."

"Flirt, but you are quite thorough."

"I'll be honest, Ruby, I understand you. My mate and I were together 6 months, but she never broke up with her boyfriend. Cheated on me the whole time, and when I found out, I rejected her. She went berserk because she wanted the title and power that came with me. I needed this fresh start to escape all that Europe did to me. Loch Ness is a powerful pack built off of love and respect, but a lot of the new world only wants the power. Your pack has the same reputation as Loch Ness, but less of the power-hungry maniacs. Then, on top of it, I have this draw to you. I will never push you to anything you don't want to do, but I couldn't let you get away for some reason."

I was awestruck. Who was this man, and was he real? Everything I needed to hear, he said, and I felt safe. "Sean, I'll return your honesty, I feel the draw too. But let's take this slow. We both have a lot to adjust to."

"Agreed," he smiled at me," so let's wrap up this official business, and we can try that Italian restaurant we talked to today. I haven't been able to think about anything but that Chicken Parmigiano he talked about."

I couldn't help but laugh at him. For the first time in months, I felt genuinely happy. I got up and began showing him where all the current files were. The filing cabinets lined the wall beginning with pack member names and addresses, financial reports, housing plans, business information, and finishing up with requests. I couldn't help but sigh as I opened the cabinet and showed Sean the horrible mess inside. He c****d his head to the side at the disaster of papers.

"Andre began ignoring requests about a year ago when he began to truly spoil his mistress. I don't know how old these are or what they even entail. I've only been able to organize about 20 a week due to the finances and keeping the pack running. I do truly apologize for the mess you have to help me clean up."

"Ruby," he moved toward me and grabbed my hand," you have nothing to apologize for. I am beyond impressed with you and all you've managed. Do not sell yourself short."

A blush crept on my face as I looked up at this man. I couldn't believe the kindness and genuine compassion Sean had. It was unbelievable. This is the new Alpha and my soon to be husband.

"Now love," I already loved him calling me that," let me take you to dinner. We can resume this in the morning."

All I could do was nod as he led me out of the pack house and towards the restaurant. I was shocked he knew where we were going, but something told me he came prepared. My suspicion was confirmed when we arrived and had a reservation. My jaw couldn't hang any lower as I marveled at this man.

"You have blown away my expectations Sean," I told him after we were seated," your Alpha skills are impressive beyond belief but here you are wining and dining me as if we aren't already getting married."

"Because I want you to want to marry me, not marry me out of an agreement. I know I made the stipulation, but what kind of man would I be to not give you the choice. We can't do the separation ceremony until the babies are born, and I won't marry you until after that, so I have at least a month to convince you to marry me with your heart."

Oh my, this man was a goddess sent gift, and if I didn't know better, I'd think I was dreaming.
