Minutes later, a half-dozen servants returned carrying trays laden with bread, fruit, cheese, and cold meats. Two others bore platters covered with tall tankards of water. The Ixtrayu, initially wary, followed Kelia's lead after she made a plate of food and tucked in without reservation. Davin watched them all serve themselves before grabbing a spherical fruit with a reddish-purple skin and biting into it.
With nothing to do but wait for further developments, Kelia ordered her sisters to rest and heal. Before long, all had fallen into a listless sleep, even Runa. Only Kelia, Nyla, and Mizar remained awake.
