The smell of medicine hit my nose as soon as I opened my eyes. My eyelid felt heavy, but I still managed to open it, staring at a white ceiling, stone walls and an unfamiliar room.
“She’s awake.” A nurse hurried to my bedside before I could sit up.
“Easy,” she said, gently placing a hand on my shoulder. “Don’t try to move too quickly.”
“What… What happened?” My voice came out dry.
The nurses exchanged looks with another woman arranging bottles on the table before looking back at me.
“There was an accident near the lake.”
