Days after the photos of Natasha"s mutilated corpse were taken in the town square of a Lyon suburb, they had been distributed to countries across the globe as continuing evidence of Nazi atrocities. Natasha was barely alive when she was brought to a makeshift gallows and hanged as a traitor in broad daylight. The horrified populace was kept at bay by gunpoint, and Vichy officials soon began circulating the story that she had been tortured by the FTP and was turned over to Lyon for execution.
