chapter twelve

Rose's POV
After waking up around four in the morning to River talking on the phone I told him who it was that stabbed me and why she had said she did it. And all he did was hold me while I cried and kissed me, when I tried to doubt that he was mine. After that we both fell asleep until the nurses woke me up around seven for meds and breakfast. So now it's eight in the morning and the guys are still sleeping. So, I had asked the the nurse to help me to take a shower because of my stitches.
"The doctor will be in soon and if everything checks out you should be able to go home later this afternoon" The nurse told me.
"Okay, thank you." I say, adjusting myself into a more comfortable position on my bed.
It wasn't long after the nurse leaves that all three of the boys wake up.
"What time is it?" Asks Tanner.
"A little after 8:00" I tell him.
"Well I'm gonna go get some food. Wanna come Kyle?" Tanner asks, standing up and walking out the door.
"Yeah man." Kyle says, getting up and following him out the door.
I turn and look at River. "Aren't you going with them?"
"Naw. I rather stay here with you." He says, running his hands through his hair and his voice still heavy from sleep.
"Okay." I say.
"Has the doctor been in yet?" River asks, standing up and stretching his arms.
"No, but the nurse has been and she said i might be able to leave this afternoon." I say, with a smile on my face.
"That's good."
"Yeah." I say fiddling with my hands. "Hey just out of curiosity have you seen my phone anywhere? Kailey and my mom have got to be worried sick about me."
"Yeah, I've got it right here." He says, handing me my phone. "But don't worry kailey and your mom already know that your okay, and that your with me."
"Oh." I said, with a shocked looking my face. "You must have texted them?"
"Yes, I did. I hope your not mad."
"No, I'm not mad just a little surprised is all."
Just then Kyle and Tanner return each with some left over food and a drink.
"What have you two love birds been up too?" Kyle says wiggling his eye brows.
"Dude no." River says in a warning kinda way.
Kyle then just holds in hands up in surrender.
After that we all just watch tv and play around on your phones, until lunch time when the boys all disappear down to the cafeteria to eat and the nurse brings in my meal. Once I get done eating my mac and cheese with a side of fruit and some mashed potatoes and gravy, the nurse comes back in with discharge papers.
"Looks like you get you get to leave" the nurse says handing me the papers. "There are restrictions on there about what you can and can't do. Along with some prescriptions to help with any pain or discomfort."
"Okay" I say, glancing through the paper work.
That's when the boys return.
"Is everything okay?" Tanner asks.
"Yes, everything is fine. I just got my discharge papers. So, once I'm dressed we can all leave and go home." I say, getting off the bed and head into the bathroom to change.
Once I'm done changing I walk back into the room to see the boys have gotten everything packed and ready to go.
"Ready to go?" River asks.
"Yep. I think so." I say grabbing my phone and discharge papers.
With that we all walk to the elevator down to the main floor then out the door to River's black mustang.
"I'm gonna drive this car someday." I said, climbing into the passenger seat.
"In your dreams babe." River says, climbing into the drivers seat while the other two boys climb into the back after putting the bags in the trunk.
After awhile being in the car we get to Tanners house to drop him off. Then we go and drop Kyle off of at his. So, now it's just River and I in the car. As he drives to my house we listen to the radio but neither one really paying attention to lyrics.
"Rose.....I don't think we shouldn't be around each other anymore." River says, grabbing the stirring wheel a little to hard.
"Really. After telling me shouldn't doubt myself that your mine you want to leave me?" I question, him with a sad look on my face and try to hold back tears.
"I didn't say that I wasn't yours. I only said that we shouldn't be around each other as much." He grips the stirring wheel just a little harder. "Rose, I'm just trying to protect you. My life is messed up and you've already been put into danger..I don't want that to happen again."
"River....y..you can't just leave me. I need you around. Plus you promised that you'd never me. I don't care how messed up your life is. My own dad had people kidnap me and he was working with Kelly." I say, with a shaky voice because I'm starting to cry.
"Wait your dad?" River suddenly asks.
"Yes my dad."
"What's his name?"
"His name is Michael"
"Damn it." River says, stepping on the breaks and pulling into an empty parking lot of a park not to far from my house.
"What? Did I say something wrong?" I ask, whipping my tears.
"Rose I have some news for you that your not gonna like." He says, looking at me with worried eyes.
