Broken Promises

Chapter eighteen

River's POV

After leaving the pizza place I had asked Rose to ride back with Tanner, Kyle, and Kailey. Which she wasn't too happy about, but she went anyways. After they all leave I call our boss back because he had called right before we entered the pizza place.

"I have a big job for you boys tonight." The boss Jason says.

"What do we have to do this time?"

"All you have to do is track this person and do a little stake out for a few hours and report whatever you hear or see back to me. And if you do a good job then we can talk about maybe letting you boys go." Jason says.

"Okay. Who is the person we are supposed to track? And where is the stake out supposed to take place?

"The person is Michael, and before you say anything we found out he's Rose's father and was behind her being taken. And the stake out is between Rose's house and the bulldog's compound.'

"I already know he's her father."

"I see. Well then here's some more news for you then we found secret footage of what happened to Rose."

After Jason said that I took a few minutes to think about what I'm hearing before responding. "You found secret footage?'

"Yes" Was all he said back.

"Okay. What was in the footage?"

"There was this girl that I think was named Kelly that had stabbed your dear Rose."

Once he said that my heart stopped because I knew exactly who he was talking about. The only questioned that reminded was why did she did do it?

"I'll see you boys later after the job is done. Then at that time we will discuss what happens with you boys after." Jason says, then he hangs up.

After what seems like forever I meet up with the boys at the club to tell them what Jason wanted us to do and who was behind what happened to Rose.

"Wait you mean Kelly? As in your crazy ex Kelly?" Tanner asks, with a look of shock which matched the look on Kyle's face as well.

"Yes and if she's actually working with Rose's dad then I just don't know what to do." I say putting my head in my hands.

"Dude I hate to say it but, you're going to have to confront her at some point." Kyle says putting his hand on my shoulder.

"I know. But enough about that let's get down to the other business at hand."

After a few hours of planning we finally come up with a good plan that we could actually work with. Kyle and Tanner are going to stake out the bulldogs compound while I track Michael. We all are taking different cars just in case one of needs back up which I don't think will happen, but you never know.

We all walk out to our cars and drive off not really knowing what's going to happen.

Rose's POV

'I wonder why River had Kyle and Tanner bring me home.' I think to myself as I sit in my bedroom going through my homework.

"Supper is done." My mom calls up to me.

"Okay. I'll be right down." I say, climbing off of my bed and walking downstairs.

As I walk into the kitchen I see my mom has made some lasagna and garlic bread which is one of my favorite meals except for pizza. You can never go wrong with pizza.

"Hey mom...can I ask you something?"

"Sure honey. What is it?"

"Have you been lying about you and dad being together?" I ask, taking a bite of my food.

I look up from my food after a few minutes of silence to see that my mom looks like she's seen a ghost as she tries to figure out what to say. After a few minutes she regains her composer.

"Yes I've been lying to you, but I was only trying to protect you from him." She says.

"Why do you think I need to be protected from him?" I ask.

"Your father isn't the best man in the world. He can be very dangerous when he wants."

"Mom what does dad do for a living and please tell me the truth."

'Your father....How do i put this... umm... he's a gang leader. He never used to be, but he took over after his friend died in a crash and left it to him. You wouldn't remember him much because you were really little when it all happened. We used to still have dinner together and he would spend holidays with us up until a few years ago." My mom explains.

"Why didn't you tell me this before?" I ask.

"Like I said I just wanted to protect you. I thought if you didn't know the truth it would be better."

"Hate to break to you mom, but he's found me. He held me captive and made a person stab me. That's why I have stitches. Everything could've turned out worst but River and his friends saved me." I tell her, while I fight back tears.

She doesn't say anything after that, but there's a look of shock and fear in her eyes, and yet also relief because of what River did. We finished the rest of our supper in complete silence. After we finished I went back up to my room and tried to message River, telling him about the talk I had with my mom and how I don't think I could stay in the same house as her anymore after what had happened. After I sent that message I lay my head down on my pillow and cry myself to sleep, and hope tomorrow is a better day.
