Broken Promises

chapter fifteen

Rose's POV

We are currently driving to River's house because he had said that there was someone he wanted me to meet. As we get closer to his house I start to feel very nervous. River must sense this because he turns on the radio.

"It'll be okay" He says, holding my hand.

With that we pull into his driveway He quickly turns off the truck and climbs out running over to my side and helps me out of the truck.

We walk hand in hand into his house.

"Stay here. I'll be right back." River says, leaving me in the living room.

As I wait for him to come back I look around and see that there's very few pictures around and the walls are painted white.

"Listen princess there's someone very special here that i want you to meet." I hear River day from the hall.

"Who is he talking to?" I wonder to myself.

When River comes back I see he's holding a little girl around three or four in his arms. "Rose this is my little sister Lisa." He says, turning her around in his arms so that she can see me.

"Hi." Lisa says, in s shy voice.

"Hi Lisa, it's nice to meet you." I say, giving her little hand a shake.

She just smiles and keeps looking from River to myself.

"She's pretty." Lisa says, whispering into River's ear.

"I know." He says, giving me a smile and putting her down on the floor.

After that we all sit on the floor and roll a ball back and fourth. When all of a sudden Lisa accidentally hits me right where my stitches are while trying to get the ball.

"Okay. I think that's enough of the ball for now Lisa." River says, taking the ball then helping me off of the floor.

"Are you okay Rose?" He asks, a look of concern written all over his face.

"Yeah, I'm fine. She know and she didn't mean it." I say, holding my side fighting back tears.

River then helps me stand up and takes his little sister out of the room. While I go into the bathroom to check the stitches and to make sure they are all still in place.I look in the mirror and everything seems to be just fine, so I walk out turning off the light and go find River.

"It's starting to get late. I should get you home." River says.

"Okay. Be sure to tell your sister that I'll be just fine."

"Will do. Now let's go." He says walking towards the door and out to his truck.

The drive to my house was very quiet. So, I just looked out the window and watched the trees and houses go by. I must have dozed off without realizing it because River wakes me up by putting is hand on my shoulder and says

"Wake up sleepy head. You're home."

"Thank you for the ride home." I say grabbing my bag while climbing out of the truck.

"I also liked meeting your little sister."

"No problem and she liked meeting you too. She feels really bad about hurting you." He says climbing out the truck and walking me to the front door.

"She shouldn't feel bad it was an accident." I say as we reach the front door.

"I know, but she's little." He says' shrugging his shoulders.

"I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school?"

"Yeah"

And the next thing I know he leans in for a kiss which I gladly return. As we kiss his tongue moved across my bottom lip asking for entrance and his hands grab onto my hips. After a few minuets of making out we finally break apart. Leaving us both breathless.

"Thank you for the goodnight kiss." I say, with a big smile on my face.

"You're welcome. Maybe next time we can take it a step further." He says, with a husky voice.

"Just maybe." I say opening the door to my house.

As I close the door I watch River walk to his truck and drive away. Once he is out of sight I go into the kitchen to find something to eat and see note from my mom on the kitchen table. I pick it up and read what it says.

"Working late. Don't know when I'll be home. Love, mom."

After reading it I place the note down onto the table and turn my attention to the fridge to find some left over pizza. After I grab the pizza, I go up to my room to do some homework and watch Netflix. As I work on my homework my phone keeps getting blown up by messages from a group chat that has Kyle, Tanner, Kailey, River, and myself. After about an hour of them all texting in the group chat about what do this weekend and different things with school. I finally shut off my phone to focus on homework.

I get done with all my homework around 1:00 am. So, i decide to go take a shower and go to bed. Once I'm back in bed I turn my phone back on to set my alarm in the morning to notice a few missed calls from everyone wanting to know if I'm okay and why i wasn't answering the phone.

I quickly send a message in the group letting them all know I'm okay and that i turned my phone to get homework done and that I was now going to sleep.
