Serana's POV
______
Onyx has been in a bad mood since the incident happened. This is now the second day and all I have been getting were single worded replies.
We were miles into the forest outside of Oxindale and I was beginning to heel the pain from my injuries. We took shelter in an abandoned shack. We were supposed to be leaving in a couple of hours.
I was worried about Onyx. I know for a fact that he felt betrayed by one of the people that he thought he could trust. I know he was also mourning the doctors death. No matter what I think of, I knew anything thing that I thought up would not make him feel better. I let out a small sigh.
My eyes wonder over to where Onyx was. He was sitting across from me, legs crossed with a map laid it in front of us. His dark eyebrows furrowed, trying to concentrate. He look troubled. His eyes continue to skim over the map as he raked a hand through his ink black hair, his horns shined dully in the light.
"Onyx.." I called out. Nothing happened.
"Onyx, please talk to me." I pleaded. Those golden eyes of his snapped up to mine. He shook his head as if to set his mind straight.
"I'm sorry, Serana. I have a lot of things on my mind." He paused. He opened his arms wide, telling me he wanted me in them. I can feel my cheeks warming up. I closed the short distance and crawled into his lap, laying my head on his chest. He closed his long strong around my firmly, giving me a long squeeze.
"It's just what happened at the doctor's is really bothering me. Especially Melvin getting murdered, I knew him most of my life." He say letting out a heavy sigh.
"And he had to die because of Eric. I swear, if I ever find him I will cut him down where he stand." Onyx growled out. His eyes flashed with anger.
I frown, not wanting to hear how he will kill Eric. We already had enough death and drama, we don't need anymore. I pulled enough away so that I could look him in the eye.
"You don't ever have to do such a thing, cause we left him behind with that woman. I'm sure we won't see him again."
"Good." He grabs the map and folded it back up. He looks down at me. "Did you take the pill that Melvin gave you?"
I nodded my head, I was just waiting for the pills effects to kick in. I standing up from his lap, Heading to the other side of the shack to get my bags. After throwing the bag over my shoulders I turn back to see Onyx already to go.
It was early morning. The sunrays flooded down through the broken roof above us, showering Onyx in the golden light. His dark hair slightly messy from sleeping. Those golden eyes held tender emotions as he stair down at me, his lips curled into a small smile. He stood tall and proud, still wearing the tunic, trousers and cloak he exscaped in. My heart began to accelerate in my chest, I can feel my face and ears heating up. He really was handsome.
As I blush, Onyx smirk became wider. He began closing the distance between us, making my knees weak. He lays a hand on the wooden wall behind me, towering over me.
"You wanna know what will make me feel better right now?" He ask in a low rough voice. He slid his other around my waist and pulled me against his body, supporting my weight.
"W-what?" I stutter out. My stomach was beginning to fill with butterflies.
"A kiss. I want you to kiss me, Serana." He breathed out in a low voice. Just hearing him say my name in such a way made a shiver run through my spine. My heart skipped a beat at his words. A kiss? The only time I kissed anyone what when.. My cheaks began to blaze as I remember our passionate night at the doctor's house.
"I'm too shy..." I whisper out, not meeting his gaze. My hand flew to my long braid that came over my shoulder, playing with it nervously. He let out an enticing laugh.
"You are too cute for your own good. Here, I'll kiss you then." I suddenly felt his finger under my chin, raising my head so that I was looking into his eyes. His face came closer and closer until his soft lips met mine.
Our lips began to dance in unison with each other but the cute kiss became more demanding. Onyx other arm wrapped around my waist as he held me tighter. A small groan exscaped his lips. I can feel my womanhood awakening. I couldn't help but let out an unashamed moan in response.
All too soon, he broke the kiss. He leaned his forehead against mine as we try to catch our breath. He looked at me with eyes filled with passion and desire. I couldn't help but look down and see a long thick bulge against his thigh. My face heats up once again.
"You're going to be the death of me." Onyx chuckle, adjusting that bulge in his pants.
I cleared my throat awkwardly, not used to feeling so hot and turned by a man. I've seen many males in my life and none can ever compare to my mate, Onyx.
My mate, Onyx.
Repeating it in my mind made me giggle. I sounded like a young girl in love, how I said it. Onyx eyes met mine as I giggle, a smile on his beautiful face.
"If kissing you gives you that kind of reaction I should kiss you every hour of the day." I looked at my bare feet bashfully, not knowing how to respond to the complement.
"Have you decided where we will be going?" I ask changing the subject.
"Yeah, about half a day's walk from here is a Inn called Hot Water Inn, we will be going there. And when we leave there we will be heading to a small mining town, which is about three days away from the Inn." He informed me.
"Are you ready to go?" I nodded.
"Onyx?.." I called. He looked down at me questionly.
"Can you carry me again? I don't have any boots to wear, plus my body is still weak.." I asked hesitantly. I didn't want to feel like a burden. But then suddenly he pulled me in his arms. I wrap my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck.
"Whatever you want, love."
-------------------------
6 HOURS LATER.
-------------------------
I was afraid. Onyx and I have been walking now for a while now we've been hearing strange noises behind us. The longer we walk the closer the noises got. The noises often sounded like snapping branches, loud foot steps and rustling bushes. I thought that it was some animal but Onyx said it was people. Hearing that made my blood run cold. But I did feel a little safer knowing that Onyx had a sword at his hips. But then we hear someone familiar.
"Onyx and Serana please stop!"
Onyx spun us us around so that we were facing the culprit.
It was Eric and the woman from before. There looked at us with pleading eyes. Their breaths were ragged, obviously tired. The clothes that they wore were the same as last time we saw them.
Onyx jumped into action. He sat me down on my feet and took a step in front of me, shielding me. He quickly, unsheathed his sword and pointed it at Eric. The point of the sword literally at his chin.
It was quiet. All you could hear was the animals around us. Eric and the women put their hands up, showing us that they pose no threat. I grabbed the back of Onyx's cloak.
"Onyx what are you doing?" I ask in a shaking voice.
"I told you. I said if I see Eric again I would slice him down where he stands and that is exactly what I intend on doing." Onyx voice was wild and dangerous. His golden eyes looked darker than usually. Before I could speak, the woman spoke up.
"Please you Highness, spare us." She pleaded.
"Why should I?" Onyx asks, his eyes never leaving Eric's. Eric looked as if he was going to pass out at any moment. The women takes a step forward until she stood next to Eric.
"Because we can help each other out." He took a small Pause and continued.
"Eric is and excellent healing fairy. If anything were to happen he would be able to heal us. The vampire side of him is strong wan you can use him in combat if we needed to. He can be beneficial to you." She paused again eyeing Onyx. When she saw that my mate was waiting for her to continue, a sudden flash of hope came into her eyes. He spoke again in a hurried tone.
"I am also an healing fairy so if either Eric or I get hurt, the other one can still use their healing powers. And, beggar's can be helpful too. We can pickpocket people, lock pick doors and have excellent stealth skills. I am also an apprentice level fighter. I personally like using daggers and the bow." She takes another step forward, she looked desperate.
"Please, my Lord. We can be beneficial to you. Please let Eric and I join you." She looked at Onyx with pleading eyes.
The woman did make solid points. She and Eric would be useful in our group. But the main thing I'm concerned about is Eric. Onyx and I don't need Eric to betray us again.
As if reading my mind, Onyx speaks up. His golden eyes holds suspicion as he glares at Eric.
"I don't trust you." He say bluntly. His eyes never leaving Eric's. "I don't need you to make another attempt to steal my woman."
"If you have any suspension of me plotting against you or the group, strike me down at any time." Eric's voice came out strained, fear still in His eyes.
"Could I strike you down now?" Onyx challenged Eric. The tip of his sword presses slightly deeper onto Eric's chin. I can she Eric whence in pain, a small stream of blood trails down his chin. Eric gave a weak nod.
Onyx was silent for a long time. Thinking about all the pro's and con's having them with us. After a while Onyx sheathed his sword. I can she the two let out a sigh of relief.
"Serana, what do you think?" My mate suddenly asks me. All eyes were on me, especially Eric's, his eyes held a million emotions in them as he looks at me.
"I-I think they should come." I whisper. Onyx nods and turns to me and picks me back up. He turns back to the two.
"You heard the woman. You can come but if I get any bad feeling, you both are dead." Onyx barks. Eric and the women gave a single sharp nod before following onyx and I deeper into the forest...
