By the time Onyx and I awaken, The rest of Iverstine and the gang were already up and doing their own thing. Onyx and I went to go look for Ellis and we found her in the hall mixing potions and making medicine for our journey. Ysabelle and Eric was at her side bickering in a annoyed manor at each other. Onyx explained our situation that happened way earlier in the morning to Ellis and asked her if she had anything that would keep me from getting pregnant. She nodded and began mixing me a potion. Of course, Eric overheard us and gritted his teeth in anger, his eyes a brighter crimson than usual. His blazing eyes landed on me, I burrow myself in Onyx's side, trying to hide from his gaze. Onyx, oblivious to our exchange holds me closer to his side, planting a kiss on top of my head. I see Ysabelle following Eric's gaze and she asks who I was. He responded 'Shes Serana, the woman who should have been carrying my child instead of you.' At that, Ysabelle's chocolate eyes fills with Surprise and hurt, but if you look closely you can see jealousy in the deepest pits of them. She begins slapping Eric with her tiny fists in anger before running out the hall in tears. When Ellis was finished, she hands me a pink potion, in a stone cup. I quickly drink its contents and tastes of strawberries fills my mouth. She told me she would examine me in about several days to make sure it worked. After the gang and I went to Otis, the owner of this mine and the town, to get our pay. All together we made over twelve-hundred coin, It was more than enough coin to last us months of traveling. After receiving our pay, we went to the towns only shop to gather supplies. We also bought weapons. Onyx already owned a sword, his blade was thin and long but extremely sharp. It was designed with with fancy designs and clad with thousands of tiny shiny gems, a sword fit for a prince. Eric preferred a bow and arrow, Ellis and Ysabelle purchased daggers. I on the other hand bought a ebony short sword, the blade was pitch black and at the tip of the hilt was a ruby, it was beautiful. Onyx went to the grind stone to sharpen his blade. Ellis was still working on her elixirs, Ysabelle was crying in her tent, and Eric was in the stables. I was with Kyoto. "How did you sleep?" I asked him, wrapping my cloak closer to my body. Were were currently walking up a path that left Iverstine and into the forest. I wanted to pick some wild flowers, Kyoto tagged along saying he knew the perfect place to find them. "I slept good, I suppose." He sigh, sounding very posh. We continue to walk up the path silently. It was a beautiful day today. The sun was out high in the sky and not a single cloud was above us. The grass was long and lush, coming up to my knees. The large ancient trees loomed over Kyoto and I as we walk into the forest, the soft smell of water fills my nostrils. I finally feel at peace for the first time in the last couple of weeks. As Kyoto and I continue walking, we came across a river. The river was clear and you can see salmon, bass and other colorful fish swimming happily. Along the river were flowers of all colors everywhere. My eyes sparkle, I lift the skirt of my dress up and jog over to a small bundle of flowers at the base of a tree. I lean forward and take a sniff and nearly moan at its lovely fragrance. I turn to Kyoto with a grin on my face. "I see why you brought me here now." I say, turning back to the red tulips before me, admiring its beauty. "Yes. I come here when I need peace and quiet from the peasants in that old mining dump." He flips his long hair over his shoulders. "That's not nice to say." I frown, picking a tulip and bringing it to my nose. I turn to Kyoto. He stands a couple of feet away from me. He looked very relaxed and handsome. His straight eyebrows neutral and his dark brown eyes were on me, a small smirk on his pink lips. His cat ears alert and his black tail relaxed. Today he wore his long, thick, waist length hair down. He wore a light grey hooded cloak over his blue, red and orange yukata. His feet in sandals. "It may not be nice but its true." His smirk widens. "Am I a peasant?" I ask, wondering If he had the nerve to say yes. "Of course you are, but you are a very special peasant. You should be greatful that I have humbled you with my presence." I role my eyes at his self-centered response. I pick a couple of flowers before standing and walking back down the path to Iverstine. He was really bothering me. Within a couple of strides he managed to catch up to me due to his long legs. His cold angry eyes on me, frowning. "How rude of you to leave me like that." Kyoto growls. "Do you really think I want to hear you talk down on the town and I like that?" I ask. Quickening my pace. "Fine. You aren't a peasant... Everyone else is though."he pouts, looking up at the sky. "And that makes things better?" "Yes." I laugh without humor. We continue walking down the dirt path, the town comes into view. Right when I quicken my pace to get back to my mate as soon as possible, Kyoto grabs my arm and pulls me to a stop. I look up and see a stony expression on his face, his ears rotating as if they were satellites. "You need to hide." Kyoto suddenly picks me up and carry me to a nearby tree. He lifts me up higher so that I can climb up the lowest branch, I look down at Kyoto. "What's wrong?" I ask, anxiety at the pit of my stomach. "It looks like a small group of soldiers are attacking Iverstine. They seem to wear the military armor of Oxindale." Hearing him say that made my heart accelerate and my palms sweat in fear. I swallow hard, trying not to let the bile that found its way in my throat exit through my mouth. I suddenly feel hot and my throat feels dry and scratchy. "A-are you sure? I don't see anything." I squint my eyes in the direction of Iverstine. All I could see were a few buildings and indistinguishable people running around. I a very faint sound of yelling and clashing of steel fills my ears. "Of course I'm sure, Serana. Us Khaat folk have incredibly sensitive eyes, hearing and smell. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about ." Then he looks up at me with the most serious expression I've ever seen him wear. "You have to stay in this tree and hide. Do you understand me?" "Please don't leave me by myself! Take me with you!" "No!" He calmly say. Even though he sounded calm, he spoke with such authority that I shut my mouth. I hug the trunk of the tree tightly to my body as angry tears begin rolling down my cheeks. Even though Kyoto's beautiful face was unchanging, his eyes betrayed him. His eyes were filled with pain as he stair at me. Why was he in pain? He exhaled in defeat. "Serana, I know you are afraid and you you don't want to be alone right now but I cant let you go. I cant let you go into harms way, okay? Stay here while I go eliminate the threat, I will return when its safe okay?" He say in a soothing tone, trying to calm me down. "But what about Onyx?" I ask sniffling. Something flashes in Kyoto's eyes before it disappears. He presses his lips together. "Ill return him to you safely, I promise." After a little while I nodded reluctantly, wiping my tears away. A small smile comes on his pale face. "Good girl. Keep your weapon ready okay?" I nodded, nearly forgetting about my ebony short sword at my hip. I place my hand on its cool hilt. "Stay hidden, okay? Holler if you need me." I nodded. He gave me one reassuring smile before sprinting to Iverstine. But I only stayed in place for fifteen minutes before hoping down from the tree and running for Town, convinced I could help...
