I unsheathed my ebony short sword as I sprint to Iverstine. As I grew closer, I can hear the bloodcurdling screams of the fallen and the sickening sound of flesh being torn by metal.
I can feel my stomach flip with fear and I hear the small voice in the back of my head telling me to turn back, but It was already too late to go back to safety.
As I brake past a couple of houses, I finally made it to the middle of the small town. My eyes bulge at what I saw. Dread fills me and I nearly vomit where I stand.
All of the town folk and miners were dead. Their bodies littered everywhere, coating the thick green grass with dark red blood. Otis's body was only a couple of feet away from me laying face down, multiple stab wounds were all over his body. There were also bodies of the Oxindale soldiers also, but some were still alive and fighting.
I spotted Ellis and Ysabelle a few yards away at the stables. Both of them had small cuts all over their bodies and their clothes were tattered. Ysabelle hid behind Ellis, crying her eyeballs out and protectively cradling her pregnant belly. Ellis on the other had stood tall and fierce, fending of a stout soldier that was trying to kill them.
Eric was beside the town hall fighting. He was Flying in the air, his large olive green wings beating in the wind. He used his bow and arrow to shoot his two closest targets in the head. After using this last two arrows, he took a dagger from his hip and swooped down and impaled the third target. He threw his body weight on the poor soul and sank his teeth into the man's shoulder, draining his blood.
Over by the tents, Kyoto effortlessly ended three Oxindale soldiers without breaking a sweat.
Onyx, the man I was worried about, stood nearly a half a mile from me. He looked as if he was having trouble fending off the enemy. It was four against one. He needed my help.
Right when I was about to charge his way and held, I hear a war cry behind me. I look back.
A stray soldier that was hiding in the brush jumped out, his sword and shield raised high as he charged at me. I raise my blade with shaky hands but my hands were shaking so much from fear that I dropped the damn thing. All I could do was watch In horror as the soldier runs up, trusting his sword at me.
With a loud growl, Eric tackles my attacker to the ground. He takes his dagger and begins repeatedly stabbing him. The man died Instantly but Eric was too blinded with rage and bloodlust to notice. Eric's eyes were the brightest shade of red that I ever seen on him. The blazed crazed for blood and death, his fangs were elongated and protruding from his mouth, as was his long forked tounge. His mouth, teeth and chin was coated with the blood of his enemies. When he spoke, It sounded like three other voices were intoned with his, sounding utterly distorted and frightening Like a demon. This must be the vampire side of him I never got to see.
"Ill make you wraith in pain for trying to harm her, mortal!" His tri-toned distorted voice bellows. He sinks his teeth into the dead soldier.
I hear sprinting feet coming towards me, I look to the other side to see yet another enemy coming towards me. I didn't have time to find my ebony blade to defend myself. He tackled me to the ground, struggling to keep me still.
"Keep still, sweetheart. Ill keep you very safe on our way back to Oxindale, King Lazarus misses you so very much." His voice shines disgustingly at me, my stomach flips. So Lazarus is behind all of this? Since when did he become king?
I try to wiggle my way out of his grip but he was too strong he pins my arms over my head and his eyes roams by body hungrily. But suddenly, he was impaled from behind by a forgien sword, the blade misses me by a mere few inches. The man coughs up blood all over my dress before going limp, dying right on top of me.
My eyes went up to meet my savior. Kyoto's beautiful face was twisted with anger. He rips his sword out of the soldier and kicks him off of me. He yanks me off the the ground and begins gently shaking me.
"I told you to stay put in the tree! You could have died, what was going threw your damn brain, Serana?!" Anger and frustration was in his voice. His eyes were furious but I could see the relief deep in his deep brown eyes.
I open my mouth to speak, but I couldn't. Thick warm tears begins falling down my cheeks, blurring my vision, a small hiccup leaves my lips. Kyoto frowns letting out a heavy sigh, his eyes softening. His slim yet strong arms wraps around me pulling me to his wide hard chest, he strokes my hair.
"I'm sorry for yelling. You just scared the life out of me. I don't know what Id do if something happened to you." He says uncharacteristically. I was surprised something so soft and gentle could leave his mouth.
I step out of his arms, whipping my tears away. My eyes wondering around the empty town, the only survivors was our small group. My stomach dropped. Where was Onyx?
"I was worried about Onyx and came looking for him." I finally say, looking up at Kyoto sniffling. There was a hint of jealousy in his eyes, his lips pressed into a thin line.
"What about me? Am I just chopped liver?" Jealousy clear in his voice. Why was he acting like this?
"I was worried about you too." I answer honestly. The jealously leaves his eyes and was filled with warmth, a smirk came on his lips with satisfaction.
I hear a sicking sound of flesh being ripped and my eyes follows the sound.
Onyx stood some yards away looking very mighty and dangerous as he stand over his last victim. His clothing was ripped and shredded, his clothing and horns was soaked in blood and his body was covered on small cuts. His body looked different. I didn't know how to explain it, but his body looked bigger, his horns looked longer and his fingernails. was he going through a transformation kind of like how Eric did earlier? He looked like a animal. The very definition of danger.
He looked down at his victim that he just sliced down, as he wipes his sword clean with his ruined shirt before sheathing it. Somehow, he manage to kill all four soldiers singlehandedly. He looks around town until his eyes lands on me. Relief washes over his sharp honey colored eyes, a sigh leaving his lips. But as Onyx was distracted by looking at me, a soldier pop out from behind the well and sliced onyx across the shoulder blades.
All I could do was watch and scream in horror as Onyx loses his balance and falls backwards as the soldiers bury his dagger into Onyx chest.
