The next day we woke up early to head out to our next destination.
The journey was long and tiring. The trip was four days five nights long before finally arriving at the small town.
It was a very small mining town. There as one farm, two houses, a small store, and a miners quarters. Outside of the town was the mine at the base of the mountain. Otis, The man who owned the mine ran the town. He said we could stay as long as we want along as we mine in his mine, he said he would pay us good too.
We all had to sleep outside in tents that Otis provided for us because the miners quarters were full. We weren't the only ones sleeping in tents.
There was a guy that me and Ellis met the first time we arrived.
His name was Kyoto. He had cat ears on his head and a long black tail. When I asked him about his race he told me he came from a small island where were the khaat people dwell.
He told Ellis and I about his culture and language. It was really interesting, honestly.
Two weeks and half has past since arriving to this little town called Iverstine. It was currently midday. Ellis and I sat outside the mine on a small hill a couple of feet away from the mine. We were lounging in the grass lazily. Our job were to give the miners food and drink three times a day. They told us that doing hard labor wasn't a lady's job.
Ellis and I had just given the men their lunch and decided to sit on the hill. We chated until Kyoto arrived.
As usual, his nose was in the air walking gracefully to where we sat. He sat down beside us, not even saying hello.
He told us he was a wealthy scholar from his land. So he was obviously very sophisticated, intelligent and very posh. He was also very blunt and some what rude when he spoke. He was mean but I didn't think it was on purpose. I thought personally it was because he just didn't know how to be nice. He often said that he didn't like us but if he didn't he wouldn't be hanging around us every day.
He sat beside me in a elegant blue and purple yukata. He wore white socks with wooden sandals. His black hair was pulled up into a braided ponytail and he had some hair hanging on the sides of his face. His black cat like ears were turned in our direction in interest but his face told us a different story. His face looked annoyed like always. His straight eyebrows was relaxed, his eyes were closed and his lips were into a frown. He looked too pretty for a boy. Beautiful even. He looked feminine almost but he told us that the women in is island go for those types of guys.
I couldn't help but giggle at him. He thought he was big and bad but down inside I know he can be a sweet guy. His ears twitched at the sound of my laughter and his eyes open, his cold gaze on me. I grinned at him warmly.
"Hello, Kyoto." I greeted.
"Oh, hello there." His voice was cold. He greeted me as if he just realized my presence beside him. Jerk. I brushed it off.
"Did you just get off the morning shift?" I asked curiously.
"Obviously.." He said. " Why must you ask such stupid questions? You know I meet you two every afternoon after my shift."
He was right. Even though he was right, that didn't give him the right to be a jerk. I was only trying to make small talk. I frowned I looked at him with hurt eyes. His dark eyes soften the slightest bit at me. He opens his mouth to speak but Ellis cuts him off.
"Why are you such a cold hearted person? We have been nothing but nice to you, yet, you treat us so coldly." Ellis snapped. She disliked the man the day he first spoke to us. And that was understandable too, when we met him in the dining hall he spoke with us with such venom and hatred in his voice that I thought we actually unintentionally Offended home or something. Ever since then, they would always argue and bicker every time they were in a 10 mile radius of each other. I could only wonder what he been through for him to be this is way.
The little silver of softness that was in his eyes were gone now. They were replaced with fury and hatred. His eyes looked far away for a moment and his fists began to ball up. His cold eyes dart to Ellis brown orbs.
"Because women are liars and deceivers. They are evil beings that can not be trusted." He say flatly. Ellis blinks in surprise, not expecting to hear that leave his mouth. My eyebrows furrow, kind of confused.
"Why do u hang around us if you dislike women so much?" I asked.
"just because.." Kyoto glanced down at me again. His eyes softening yet again at the sight of me.
"..well can you at least tell us what happened that made you feel this way towards woman?" I asked. His eyes flickering back and forth between Ellis and I. He looked like he was having a internal battle with himself, until finally he sighed in defeat.
"I guess I can finally tell someone. I'm only spilling the beans because Serana has been polite to me continuously unlike some people." He say accusingly to Ellis.
Right when he opened his mouth to speak about why he was the way he is, a loud ruckus erupted from town. I could hear men bellowing out an indistinct name. I jumped up to my feet and made a dash for Iverstine with Ellis and Kyoto at my heels.
When we finally arrived at the scene in the middle of the town, I ducked and weaved my way through the crowd until I finally pushed my way to the front.
There before me was a familiar beautiful blonde haired hussy accompanied by a furious blond older brother and an very angry grey haired inn owner. The greying old man eye landed on me and widened in realization. He took a step forwarded and pointed a finger at me and spoke.
"You! You were with that winged swine! Where is he? Where is Eric?!"
This couldn't be happening.
