Cassius closed his eyes, taking a deep breath while his mind screamed loud with thousands of thoughts running inside. His lips had formed into a thick scowl, heart stammering inside his chest as he waited in anticipation, for a certain person to finally arrive at the doorstep of the room he was in right now.  A person that is rumored to be the cruelest man of all.  The demon king.  How did he end up in this situation you ask? Well, after Cassius had gotten crowned as the thirty fifth vampire king, his kingdom had fallen to the rock bottom. They were losing the war, the angels had killed most of his people and now Cassius was left with only one choice. That was to form an alliance between his kind and the demons..  However, Cassius was still not comfortable with his own decision. He asked himself again and again, what would his father do if he were in Cassius's shoes? It was obvious though, his father would probably do the thing that is best for the kingdom. But that's the case, Cassius didn't know if reaching the demons for help would benefit him in any way, who knows.. Maybe this might even ruin everything he had built up for the last four years of literal hell.  Cassius tensed when the door was opened, a demon butler peeking through it and meeting Cassius's eyes. The brunette raised an eyebrow at the servant, silently asking him what had happened.  "Your highness, our King is on his way to meet you." the timid man stated, Cassius giving a gentle nod in return. The door was once again shut, and Cassius wasted no time in hiding his face in the palms of his hands, a sigh of exasperation leaving past his mouth. He was nervous as hell, since it was very obvious that this meeting will turn out to be the scariest one he had ever been to.  Cassius's thoughts went back to the rumors surrounding the demon king, they had always portrayed the person in question as a hideous, ugly monster who likes to get f****d by men non stop. And the said king was also referred to as the 'killer in a crown' which was definitely not a pleasant word to hear in Cassius's opinion. In admist of everything, Cassius couldn't help but let his eyes rake all over the luxurious abode, designed just for the guests. The sophisticated embroidery had Cassius wanting to puke, cause this was far too away from 'comforting' in Cassius's thoughts. This didn't feel like anywhere close to his home, the good ol' vampire castle. Well, demons are very much richer than vampires, so to them this might be the usual. The armchairs had dragons carved in shining silver at the sides, the whole room was painted in pure white with paintings hung between every batten, and gold lining running down the ledges. The first painting by the right was of a demon having an angel worship him, the second about a demon queen pointing her sword at a cowering angel. Cassius inwardly snorted, realising all the paintings were about demons winning against angels and yada yada. He really disliked how these dark creatures had always imagined angels being beaten to failure, rather than wishing for a day where peace is implemented. Now, Cassius had started to regret coming here. But that was until he had seen the painting hung at the far most corner of the left side. It was quite different from the others as it didn't have the usual angel losing to demon kind of thing, it was something else. The painting was of a boy, with emerald blue eyes and shining gold locks adorning his pale, baby skin. The boy had a barely noticeable mole on his flushed cheek, lips pulled down to form a frown as he was seemingly glaring at all the people who were looking at him. It was somewhat creepy, Cassius had to recheck to make sure that's not a real person out there planning to eat him raw. But before anything, Cassius had to admit.. The boy was ethereal. "Hey there." Cassius shrieked and snapped his head towards the sound of the voice, gasping to himself when his eyes met with the sight of a guy, standing there with crossed arms. The brunette swallowed, his Adam's apple bobbing nervously. "You're-" The man smiled, doing a ridiculous bow in front of the stunned Cassius. "Athan, leader of the demons. It's a pleasure to meet you, your majesty." Cassius abruptly jumped out of his seat, bowing to the man on repeat, just to show his respect. The demon king who had raven black hair that was combed to the side, chuckled with his mouth covered at his antics. And Cassius took his time to observe the other. His heart pounded against his chest while his gaze took in the other's frame, surprised to realise how effortlessly beautiful the so called hideous monster was. The demon king was pale, pink lips having a big smile ghosting them, and hollow eyes that could pull you in without even trying. King Athan was gorgeous, Cassius couldn't even fathom the words that could describe the demon's beauty without making it unfair.  And his voice... f**k, Cassius could even masturbate to that. "You look young, how old are you little vampy?" Athan asked, slowly making his way towards Cassius and taking a seat, right in front of him. And Cassius tried to ignore the obvious limp in the other King's steps. "I'm twenty, almost twenty.." the pure blood beamed, faking confidence and saw Athan crossing his legs with no shame at all. "Cool. I'm twenty two by the way." Athan replied in a casual undertone, tugging a strap of his dark hair behind his ear, that had Cassius blushing madly. The raven haired male then looked at the brunette with an unreadable expression, a small silence clouding the room till Cassius finally got the courage to initiate a conversation. "I uhmm came here to-" "Yeah the alliance, that's what you're here for right? I thought you would send an official, but weirdly enough, you came here yourself." the demon king cut Cassius off out of habit, and the latter gave him a small nod. "And your knights are really scary, they're glaring at everyone." the older male added with a click of his tongue, and Cassius coughed awkwardly. "Sorry about that, those guys get too overprotective sometimes." "Of course they do, you act like such a baby." Athan leaned to the back and uttered, although the way he said it sounded a bit rude, Cassius let it slide and pursed his lips. It was getting so awkward to the point where Cassius had started feeling uncomfortable, but the vampire king tried his best to keep it on low. He then wondered who the boy in the painting was, should he ask Athan about him? Cassius decided he should, in the end. He cleared his throat, hoping this wouldn't turn even more awkward. "Can I ask you a question?" Athan turned to his side and tilted his head, mumbling an 'okay' after hearing Cassius mutter. "Who's he?" Cassius pointed at the painting by the right, Athan looking questioningly at that. Then the demon smiled and stared at Cassius again, his chest heaving up a little as he let out a small breath. "A person you shouldn't associate with, little vampy."
