Cassius blinked. "Huh?" he murmured, his bewildered eyes staying glued to Athan's, who divulged a quiet hum. The demon king didn’t say anything and pulled onto his feet, hackling his long fingers through his raven locks. "What do you mean by I shouldn't associate with him? Who is he?" The demon ignored his question, walking away from there and grabbing the door knob to pull the door which was kept slightly ajar, and enclosing it completely. His tempting gaze met Cassius's as he turned around, the younger delving in the heated atmosphere. "We're here to discuss about our alliance, aren't we?" Athan asked, walking back to his place near Cassius. The brunette tried to get away by pushing himself more against the fluffy cushions of the chair, just as Athan placed one of his knees over the desk and slanted his head towards Cassius, a smirk of mischief engraving his lips as Cassius's face went beet red. "So.. How do you wanna do this? Marriage? Or maybe we can just mark each other and be fiancés.. That'll be easier don't you think so?" the ravenette suggested and bit his lip, his warm breath fanning against the tip of Cassius's nose and the pure blood squirmed, fisting the fabric of his pants while his mind was a complete havoc. "I-I can't do that.." Cassius negotiated breathlessly, dodging Athan by looking away from the demon as the latter tried to bring their lips closer. "Why?" questioned Athan, his hands resting on either sides of the backrest and he lowered himself a bit, leaning more towards the vampire who was cornered fully. "I'm waiting for my mate.." Cassius answered firmly, staring back at the older King who grinned at his words. The black head tried to seal their lips again, but then backed away realising the other wasn't reciprocating and seeming uncomfortable than ever because of his actions. Athan tsked, stepping down and seating himself on his chair, then throwing his legs over the desk with a small pout. Cassius just gave him a small smile, his thighs shut together tightly while Athan had his legs manspread. "Such a shame, we'll have to seal the alliance another way then... What do you think about a contract? I know it's not the most efficient way-" "A contract.. Please." Cassius fiddled, his palms rubbing together and Athan shrugged in response. "If it's a contract, I'd have to discuss with the oldies." Athan half whined, half complained. "Oldies? You mean the advisors? What about them?" the red eyed male blasted Athan with questions, the demon king folding his arms over his head and stretching his limbs with a loud moan. "Mandates." he replied shortly. Cassius let out a small 'oh' and smiled at Athan, who wasn't even looking his way. Embarrassed by his mistake, Cassius cupped his mouth with his hand and remained wordless; as expected, the room flooded with awkwardness yet again. But Cassius suddenly jolted once he had remembered something, swallowing harshly as he worded out his confusion. "Wait, your highness... If you were about to marry me just a while ago, what were you planning on doing if your mate comes along? It wouldn't have made sense.." Cassius saw Athan quirking an eyebrow at him, probably taken off guard by the former's random question. He proceeded to smile, making Cassius wonder whether the other was faking courtesy to mask his annoyance or something. "You know we're kings right?" "Yeah?" Cassius frowned as Athan giggled, eyeing the latter attentively. "It's obvious, I would've made my mate a concubine. Business comes first, after all." ________ ____ "Get your filthy hands away from me!" the blonde growled, whisking his arm out of the old woman's grasp, who was clinging onto him as if her life depended on it. "Please help us your grace! The taxes are wearing us off! We can't continue to live like this- your grace please listen!" she cried as the guards pushed her off the annoyed blonde, who didn't even spare a glance at her before walking away. "Fix the carriage fast, I'm not going to stay here a single second with those pests." he commanded, standing with crossed arms while the guards who weren't busy protecting him from the beggars, ran to fix the damaged carriage. His gaze raked over the impoverished mob with a hint of disgust, losing it when one of them tried to pull him by the feet. "Get away! I have work to do, you peasants!" he yelled, the people flinching at the tone of his voice. The blonde couldn't care less, bellowing once he realised he was getting late because of all this drama. He looked at the guards who were trying to lift up the carriage that was stuck in a mud puddle, brown spurting on their faces after their attempt became a success. He watched as the men fist bumped, then looking his way with wide grins. "Your highness, it's time to go." a guard held his hand out as the blonde gracefully took it, stepping on to the carriage with the help of the aforementioned who had his hands on his hips. The blonde sat carefully, turning as he felt the man leaving a kiss on the back of his hand before giving him a polite smile. The blue eyed boy didn't smile back, glaring at the serfs who were crowded around his carriage. "Get me out of here, quickly." he rolled his eyes and ordered, the guard nodding aggressively at his command. "We will, archangel Elenze."
