Cassius sighed, finally making it out to be met with the sight of his cousin and his knights, who ran up to him just as he appeared out of the trailblazing chamber of the demon sovereign.
"God your highness, you don't know how worried we were!" Richard exclaimed, hugging his younger cousin close and Cassius giggled.
The vampire king saw how the rest of his knights stared at him with wide smiles, and he didn't forget to grin back at them immediately once their eyes met.
"I'm not a baby Richard, stop treating me like one." Cassius mumbled and chuckled softly, his cousin hugging him tighter as response.
Cassius then proceeded to move his gaze towards the demon guards who had their eyes on them, calculative.. As if they were trying to spot anything suspicious so that they could kill him and his men instantly.
The brunette inhaled, "Let's leave now." he uttered, his knights leading him out right after hearing that.
Cassius just followed them, his mind still left with an unsettling feeling.
"Was the king nice to you prince? Or did he say something out of ordinary? Or maybe.. Did he perhaps try something on you? It's not like I want to assume things, but his reputation doesn't really prove him as a good person."
Cassius shook his head at Richard's question, more than ready to defend king Athan who had been nothing but polite to him.
"He was nice.. So, please don't take him as a shitty person when he's nothing but a bubbly guy. I don't think relying on rumors is a good thing." he whispered, the demon guards immediately opening the doors for them to exit.
Richard only nodded, staring as one of the vampire Knights helped Cassius to hop onto the saddle of his mount.
The tall horse had long, milky colored mane that complimented its dark body. Cassius leaned down and left a kiss on its crest, giggling once the large creature wagged its tail while letting out a happy neigh.
"I'll have to come here again." Cassius complained, looking as the Knights seated themselves on their respective horses.
"Athan- King Athan told me he would be happy to have me supervise how they would be organising the ball coming near-"
"You mean, the ball celebrating our alliance?" Richard cut Cassius off, voice uncertain.
And Cassius inwardly released a sigh of relief, realising the other didn't say anything about how he had almost called king Athan by his name, which could've been taken as disrespectful.. Since Athan was a king of higher rank, and Cassius was only a small land ruler compared to him.
"Yeah.." he agreed, his fingers threading through his horse's white mane.
He could hear the way Richard grumbled something under his breath, but Cassius chose to ignore it and think about the future possibilities.
Talking about that, Cassius remembered something..
King Athan... Wasn't the person those rumors portrayed him to be, at least that's what Cassius's first impression on the former had taught him..
But.. There was also another thing that had Cassius feeling paranoid. No matter how much he told himself to not think like that, he couldn't help but have weird thoughts about the black haired demon.
King Athan seemed kind and considerate.
Yet, Cassius saw it as something else.
As if.. It was all an act.

"Silence!"
Elenze flinched, but continued to glare at his father with furrowed eyebrows anyway.
"You promised old man, you literally promised me you would gift me the West Palace when I turn eighteen!" he snapped, his fingers scratching the hem of his shirt as he stood up, kicking the dinner table harshly.
The great angel, who Elenze referred to as 'the fat old man' didn't even budge. He scowled at his son's antics, annoyed to the point where he was desperately fighting off the urge gushing within himself to throw a fork at the teenager's face.
"As far as I remember, I told that under one condition. You have to prove your worth if you want something as expensive as that, Elenze." the great angel said calmly, Elenze bursting into flames at that.
"What the hell am I supposed to do now!? I'm the one who does more than half of the ruling while you and mom are too busy eating the whole continent- and turning into obese gorillas! Don't even-" Elenze huffed as his father raised his hand to silence him, slumping down to his seat with tightened fists.
"You, who can't even hit a demon without breaking down- would be fit to take care of a valuable place like the West Palace!? Don't make me laugh Elenze, all you can do is act like a brat and cause more trouble." his mother who had been quiet for a while, added with a laugh.
"When did I even act like that- who the hell would say I can't punch a pesky little demon!? I despise them mother! You of all people should know that!" Elenze spoke, slamming his fist on the desk in rage.
The Queen leaned to her seat as the great angel looked at his son boredly.
"I still remember someone here crying over a so called 'pesky little demon-"
"Shut up!" the blonde growled, throwing a spoon at his mother who dodged quickly and shook her head. His father on the other hand heaved up a sigh, swallowing a gulp of water after chewing something on his plate..
"I promise, I can kill any demon-"
"Any demon?" his father turned to him, tilting his head as Elenze gulped.
"Any demon." he agreed, a little nervously.
The great angel nodded and parted his lips to speak. But before he could say anything, someone suddenly barged into the dining hall out of nowhere.
"Your highness!"
The angel royals looked at the angel guard in question, with eyebrows raised. The said man was sweating, his hands shaking and was holding the side of the foyer in panic.
"The vampires- the vampires went to the demon's side!"
Elenze stood up, his palms resting on the table.
"What are you trying to say?" he questioned, his and the guard's eyes meeting and the subordinate took in a deep breath.
"Our spies, they've seen the king meeting with the devil." he coughed, Elenze's eyes narrowing.
"The what now?!!" he shrieked, his parents looking at each other wide eyed.
The guard rubbed his hands together, his shoulders quivering.
"They're guessing that an alliance might have happened. We're not sure, but there's a big chance for it to be true."
"How the hell-" Elenze cupped his mouth while his mother and father just stayed there, all shocked to the core.
The guard bowed in fright and went back to where he came from, Elenze slowly falling onto his seat as he rested his head on his hands.
"This can't happen, we'll literally lose-"
Elenze's mother cut the blonde male off, reaching her hand to hold her son's shoulder. Elenze looked at her, his eyebrows creased.
"You're ready to kill any demon right?"
Elenze's Adam's apple bobbed in exasperation, mind going blank for a second. He nodded eagerly, his father too joining after his reply.
"Then prove your worth Elenze." the great angel started, his gaze firm on his son.
"Destroy the pests."
