Sera hadn't spoken in hours. Her mind was numb. She was empty. She sat perfectly still, watching the storm rage all around her as the faint arounds of screams reached her. The noise was far beneath her, but still, it sounded like alarms ringing in her ears. She flinched occasionally at a particularly awful sound, but otherwise she remained fixed, the portrait of a young, composed woman…who was dying inside. Her mother. The last one to betray her. Sera vowed in that moment, she would never give her heart again, to anyone. She would lock away her humanity and cease to exist as her old self. She'd already accepted the fact that Zane was dead.
