Chapter 8

1629 Words
A few days later Daniel and I have been keeping in regular contact with our friends Greg and Silvia, and we have been truly amazed by the progress they have made. They have been sharing pictures with us, showcasing their incredible work ethic and efficiency. It's truly astonishing how quickly they are completing the masks and decorations. Perhaps it's because they are working under a time constraint, but it almost feels like they are using some sort of magical powers to accomplish everything so swiftly. Regardless of the reason behind their impressive productivity, we couldn't have been happier with the results. Everything is exceeding our expectations. Daniel and I are filled with anticipation as we gather our belongings in preparation for our upcoming visit to the kingdom. Excitement bubbles within us as we think about the reunion with our loved ones and the joy of reconnecting with friends and family. However, if I am completely honest, there is a part of me that feels an even greater sense of excitement because of the fact that we don't actually live in the kingdom just yet. You see, although I am proud of the responsibilities that await us in the future, there is a sense of liberation in knowing that we have our own home to return to after our visit. We can immerse ourselves fully in the kingdom's vibrant atmosphere and traditions, and yet still have the comfort of our own familiar surroundings to come back to. It's a truly unique experience, striking a delicate balance between embracing our heritage and having the freedom to forge our own path. I can't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities that lie ahead. But for right now, our only job is to be Luna and Alpha. Additionally, we needed to inform the pack members about our departure and remind them to follow Felix's instructions while we were away. We also needed to organize a meeting with the pack council to discuss any urgent matters to be addressed during our absence. We started by finalizing our packing, making sure we had all the necessary items for our trip. Once everything was packed, we brought our belongings to the front of the pack, ready to be loaded into Felix's car. Next, we gathered a list of tasks for Felix and his mate, as the active Alpha and Luna. This included ensuring the pack's safety and well-being, maintaining order within the pack, and handling any emergencies or conflicts that may arise during our absence. We communicated these tasks clearly and made sure they were prepared to take on these responsibilities. They have done this a few times without any problems, so we were confident this time would be no different. Simultaneously, we prepared a separate list for Delta Vines and Delta Vagor, members of the pack who were responsible for picking up things for our annual party. This list included items such as the tent, chairs, tables, cutlery, napkins, vases, lights, flowers, and any other necessary items for the event. We entrusted Felix with overseeing and coordinating this process, as he possessed the authority and leadership required for such tasks. Gamma Quentin, another reliable and organized member of the group, will take charge of preparing the intricate details of the food for the party. With his impeccable sense of taste and attention to detail, he will curate an extensive list of delectable food, refreshing drinks, and indulgent desserts. From mouthwatering entrees to delightful beverages and delectable sweets, Gamma Quentin will ensure that our cravings are satisfied and our taste buds are tantalized. He would also have the responsibility of placing all of these orders while we were gone, leaving us with one less thing to worry about upon our return. His foresight and thoughtfulness will allow us to focus solely on immersing ourselves in the experience and creating unforgettable memories with our pack and everyone that will be attending this annual event. To ensure a smooth transition, we informed the pack members about our departure and reminded them to follow Felix's instructions in our absence. We emphasized the importance of cooperation and unity within the pack during this period. This communication aimed to ensure that everyone was aware of the change in leadership and their responsibilities. Lastly, we scheduled a meeting with the pack council to discuss any urgent matters that needed attention while we were away. This meeting would allow us to delegate tasks, address concerns, and maintain a sense of order and continuity within the pack. With all these preparations and tasks completed, we were ready to leave the next morning, confident that the pack would be taken care of in our absence. After a long day of completing all of our tasks, Daniel and I finally found ourselves with some much-needed free time in the late afternoon and into the evening. Excited to unwind and recharge before the hustle and bustle of our arrival in the kingdom the next day, we made the unanimous decision to spend some quality time in the pool, simply relaxing and enjoying each other's company. We understood that once we set foot in the kingdom, we would be welcomed with open arms by our loved ones and friends, resulting in a whirlwind of greetings, hugs, and catching up. Therefore, we both anticipated that the first day of our visit would be filled with a flurry of activities and engagements, leaving us very little time to ourselves. As we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon by the pool, comfortably lounging on our individual floats, an unexpected interruption disrupted our tranquility. Felix approached us with an air of urgency, clutching a note in his hand. His tone immediately conveyed that something of great importance had just occurred. "Alpha, you are going to want to read this!" Startled by the urgency in Felix's voice and demeanor, I exchanged a quick glance with Daniel, who mirrored my concern. Sensing that this was no ordinary message, we swiftly got out of the pool, our desire for refreshment momentarily forgotten. Daniel, taking the lead, reached out for the note and carefully unfolded it, eager to unravel the mystery concealed within its words. “ I HaVe BeEn WaTcHiNg AnD WaItInG aNd SoOn I aM CoMiNg FoR WhAt'S MiNe” “Where did you find this?” Daniel asked Felix with a concerned tone. “Alpha, as I was coming back up the front stairs from taking your belonging to the car, it was taped to the front door.” Daniel's heart sank as he heard Felix's words. He couldn't believe that someone had the audacity to leave something on our front door without any of our knowledge. You could see Daniel’s mind racing with questions about who could have done this and why. But as he looked at Felix's face, he knew that he needed to remain calm and collected. Daniel looked at me again. “I need to analyze this, my love. I am sorry, but our pool time together is over.” He explained that it was important to get to the bottom of this if possible before we left, and that they couldn't let anyone get away with such a bold move. Daniel was determined to find out where this letter came from and what it meant, and he knew that with Felix's help, they had a better chance of getting to the bottom of it. As I nodded, I thought that this might be something bad or it could be nothing more than a prank. I know that there are a few pack members who love to pull pranks on us from time to time. Although, deep within my heart, I knew this wasn't a joke, but a warning about what was going to happen in the future. Once I was dried off and changed, I went to Daniel's office where he and Felix sat there discussing their plans for the pack's safety while they were away. They had to make sure that their pack house was secure and their wolves were safe from any danger. Daniel knew that if he and I left the pack unguarded there was a real risk of evil forces entering and taking over. The vibe we all got from that letter that was left on our door said enough. It was imperative that everything was in place before we left. We knew Felix and the others could handle things, but the thought of our home going under attack was more worrisome than anything else. The 3 of us discussed the strategies we could put in place to protect our pack while we were gone, such as setting up watches and patrols around the area round the clock. The three of us talked late into the night about the details of this plan, until finally we were all on the same page about the course of action. With that, we said good night and headed to bed. We are going to be talking to all the guards and warriors in the morning to let them know of the new plans that are now in place. We were only telling the ones that needed to know, so we didn't alarm any of the pack members. As much as this made both of us not want to leave, we needed to. We didn't want whoever or whatever did this, thinking that they scared us. We were going to continue our plans. I also assured Daniel that if at any time Felix were to link him that we needed to get back sooner than planned, Aunt Elle would assist us in getting here. That not only put my mind at ease, but the sigh that came from Daniel told me it put him at ease as well.
