Chapter 14 The Fight

Flashforward 5 Days

I was out of my mind, we were walking up around 5 am everyday to train.

“How the f**k do you do this everyday?”

“You will get used to it.”

“I will never get used to it.” The first day everyone was surprised about my skills, they didn’t know ever since I was around 10 my parents had been teaching me how to fight. My mother always said,

“You are a young lady you will need to be able to protect yourself in this world full of assholes.” I never knew why she was teaching me how to fight, but now I do. She was training me for this, being in the pack and becoming the next alpha female.

When we walk into the sparring room the smell of bleach and blood from other fights. The sparring room has black mats everywhere, even on the walls, there isn’t any windows so they can't be broken, and it also has boxing gear in the corner. Almost everyone was here even Kegan, Cherry, Rosie, Kyle, Keith, and Holden. They were never here which was weird, before I could ask Jace why they were here my father walked in. With his big booming commanding attention voice he said

“Today we will be sparring in pairs that I will be putting you in. I will call you each up with your other person and you will spar in front of all of us. The only rule is no killing.” He had a smirk on his face and I could tell what he was about to say might piss me off. “First we have my daughter River and” Please don’t be any of those assholes. “Kegan.”

“Fuck.” I said under my breath, Jace just growled.

“Please come forward into the circle.” We both walked into the circle and Kegan said

“You took my man and now I’m gonna beat the s**t out of you.”

“Try.” Was all I said before my father said begin with a booming voice. We circled each other a few times before Kegan makes a move to tackle me. I know it's coming so I side step her and she stumbles, I laugh and she growls

“Why are you laughing w***e?”

“Because that was very predictable.”

“No it wasn’t, you can’t even fight.”

“Are you sure about that?” Before she can say anything else I punch her in the nose and she falls back. She looks at me with questioning eyes before she gets up and tries to punch me in the face, but I catch it and twist her arm behind her back. Before I can do anything she un twists her arm and punches me in the stomach, not hard but hard enough to hurt. She walks up to me and whispers

“See you are to weak to have a mate like Jace, he deserves much better than you he deserves me.” That’s it I was done playing nice. She is right behind my ear and I hit her in the face with my elbow, with speed I’ve never had before I am quickly on top of her and having her pinned down with a mouth full of mat in her face.

“Summit.” When the words leave my mouth she relaxes, everyone except Jace and my father are on the ground whining. I get off of her and everyone can get up. Right before I walk out of the circle someone pulls my hair I turn around and it's all six of those assholes. Kyle throws a punch but before it hits my face I grab it and break his arm, he falls to the floor and I get close to his face and say

“You want to try anything like that again? Because next time I won’t just break your arm, and if you ever mess with my mate any of you I will gladly kick all of your asses at once.” I growl and everyone whines. I let go of him and walk over to Jace and he gives me a hug and says

“I’m so proud of you.” My dad walks up and says

“You just handed their asses to them.”

“Why did you put me up against her.”

“Because I had your mother train you for a reason.”

“You had mom train me?”

“Yeah of course you needed to be trained to become the next alpha.”

“Oh.” There was a whimper and Kyle got up and started walking somewhere right before he walked out he said to his friends.

“She’s such a w***e I can’t believe that piece of trash and ugly as hell girl took your mate Kegan.” Before anyone could say anymore Jace had him by his neck and was holding him up and said

“She is mine nobody else’s.”

“And he is mine Kegan or do we need to fight again so you can get that though you head?” She didn’t say anything she just walked out I watched her retreat like a little coward. When I heard a crunch of bones. I turned and Kyle's friends where trying to beat up Jace.

“STOP!” I yelled and they all looked at me. “WHAT THE f**k DID I SAY ABOUT MESSING WITH MY MATE.” I screamed, I felt my eyes glowing and my canines lengthen. They all turned pale, they looked down and showed me their necks

*They are showing respect to you.* I didn’t say anything I was to pissed. I walked up to them and said

“Go.” They just froze, but I said it again with power behind my words. “Go. Now.” They all scurried out the the sparring room. I turned around, no one could meet my gaze except my father and Jace.

“Does anyone else wanna go against my daughter?” My father asked. John walked forward and said

“I will.” Jace just laughed and said

“She is gonna beat your ass.”

“No she isn’t.” He said with cockiness.

“Okay whatever you say.”

“Okay John and River get in the circle.” When we were in the circle my father said “Begin.” We stood there for a few seconds both ins fighting position. 5..4..3..2..1 and he attacked, but I knew he was gonna do that, I pushed his punch away. Punch after punch he tried to land I blocked them all. When he got tired he took a second to take a deep breath, I knew this was my chance to get a punch in so I punched him in the gut and he groaned and mumbled a f**k. I laughed and he thought he would get me because apparently he thought I was distracted, but I dodged his attack and grabbed his legs with mine twisting so that he was under me. I wasn’t very heavy but he couldn’t seem to get out from under me.

“Do you summit?”

“No.” He growled, I pushed harder on his back and growled.

“How about now?” I asked

“Fine.” I laughed and got up.

“How did you know he was gonna attack?” My dad asked me after I helped John up.

“The way his body tensed up a second before he attacked.”

“Your very observant aren’t you.”

“Yeah. Mom taught me that.”

“Guess who taught your mother that?”

“You.”

“Yeah. I taught you more than you know.” When he said this I got super pissed, he didn’t teach me mom and dad did, he just showed up in my life a week ago.

“No, you taught my mother and she taught me.”

“Technically.”

“Yeah, technically.”

*What is the attitude for?* Jace said looking at me

*He put me up against that asshole.*

*Yeah because he knew you could beat her.*

*No.* Without looking away from me Jace said to Snowflake

“You put River up against Kegan because you knew she could beat her right?”

“Yes, she needed to show the pack she is worthy of the Alpha title, not everyone wants her here.”

“Why?” I asked

“Because you didn’t grow up in our culture.”

“So? What’s wrong with that?”

“Nothing they just don't like change.” I rolled my eyes. “Why did you roll your eyes?”

“Because the whole world is changing, even if they don’t like it the world is changing.”

“True words of an Alpha.”

“What?”

“Only really an Alpha would say something like that.”

“Oh.”

“It’s almost dinner time. Go get ready for dinner kids.”

“Yes father.” I solute him and walked off giggling. He growled playfully, I laughed and kept walking.
