"Hit me" I said picking up the call and putting it on speaker as I drove out the garage.
"Well buddy, she's at THE club" he chuckled making me sigh.
"THE club ?" I asked again as he confirmed making me roll my eyes and groan.
Okay let me explain this.
Andrey Espinoza over here owns a club, the dirtiest f*****g club in the country.
Drugs, alcohol, and mafia business going on 24/7, which isn't even the worst part. The worst part is one night he decided that the best f*****g name he could come up with for his club was "The club".
I pressed down furthermore on the gas pedal trying to get there quickly as traffic couldn't be more of a distraction. But after a while I had finally arrived, their cars were parked in front of the door.
I quickly got out my car and stormed towards the gate greeting the security guards on the way and headed to Andrey's room.
"Well hello" Andrey greeted as I ran to the tinted window that showed the whole club from here.
"Where the hell are they ?" I asked as he stood up and pointed to a group where a bunch of teenagers where grinding on each other beside the bar ordering shots.
"You know they have fake ids, yet you f*****g let them in" I said heading towards the door and running down the stair as I heard Espinoza behind me.
Does Dima f*****g allow this ?
"Bro, if she hates you now, she's gonna hate you even more knowing you followed her" He yelled
"Does it seem like I give a f**k?" I yelled back on top of the loud music.
"Well.. yes?" He yelled back as I stopped trying to take a breath and calm down.
"Good guy, now let's go get a drink and calm the s**t down" he said as I rolled my eyes and followed back to his office where a couple of dancers tried to get our attention.
"What will you have ?" He asked as we arrived at his office as I kept my eyes on her through the window.
"Whiskey"
"What's up with you ?" He asked sitting down and handing me a glass.
"What ?" I asked taking a sip trying to calm down.
"This whole situation" He asked.
"This whole situation is my job for the next year" I said through my teeth.
"You have never been so stressed about a job, not even the assassination of a certain president had you like this" He said as I rolled my eyes.
To be fair he wasn't the best president.. he deserved it..
"Viktor something is up, and I can feel it, whatever it is make sure to sort it out and not drag her into your s**t. She doesn't deserve more" Andrey explained as my curiosity took over.
"What do you mean more?" I asked.
"Not my story to tell mate"
"Why did Dima adopt her ?" I asked
"Why do you even think she's adopted ?"
"Her second name is Amelin and he says she's his daughter, she's not" I said taking another sip.
"She could still be his biological daughter, you know ?" Andrey added and I knew he didn't believe what he was saying.
He knows the truth but he's not gonna share easily.
"Even if she says the opposite ?" I asked as he sat back in his seat.
"Clearly y'all have had a conversation going, so you can wait and ask her later. If she wants she'll tell you. If not she won't" He said as I downed what was left in my glass and put it back on the trey sitting back and doing exactly what he told me.
Waiting.
I lit my third cigarette as I waited.
I waited and saw them ordering shot after shot.
Moving move after move.
Dancing dance after dance.
I saw her drink until she could barely stand up.
Every time trying to tell myself she's fine. But I couldn't take it anymore.
"That's it, she's going home" I said walking down the stairs again, already carving the idea of not listening to Andrey in my mind. No matter what.
"Well look who we have here.." I said arriving at where they were standing beside the bar.
"Vikk?" Lien said barley able to get the words out.
"We're going home" I said well aware how everyone from their group was staring at us.
"Noooo.. I'm stay-ing *hiccup*" she groaned as I couldn't want anything less but to not put up with this.
"Is he bothering you ?" One of the boys in their group came acting all tough.
Okay Viktor, no killing this is Andrey's club...
"Lien, let's go" I said one last time.
"Anotherr one!" She said to the bartender and I couldn't really understand how the little girl who barley spoke a word the first day we met, is here hammered in little clothes that barely covered her small frame.
"We're going" I said looking over at Ivan and pointing my head towards the door as he nodded and started walking there with Jake.
"Nice meeting y'all.." Andrey joked before I carried Lien and started heading towards the door where the little curled hair boy tried picking a fight, but Liens friend, Elena stopped him saying I was her bodyguard.
From the worlds most feared hitman to bodyguard.. what the f**k am I doing.
When I arrived at the car, Elena was behind us as Lien tried but struggled getting out of my hold.
"Get in the car" I said putting her down as she stood still arms crossed.
"I said get in" I replied but she kept her same posture.
"I warned you" I said carrying her again like a little kid and putting her seatbelt on and making sure to lock the doors.
"You're coming ?" I asked her friend who stood still as she snapped out of her trance and jumped in the car beside Lien who had already fallen asleep.
"Does she have a drinking problem?" I asked recognizing these behaviours.
"No, she drinks for fun but can go months without a drink.. just recently... I don't think I have ever seen her this f****d up.." she said getting quieter.
"You know, Dima leaving, having to live with a stranger, her locker at college being vandalized and her boyfriend cheating on her came all at once.. it hit her hard but she's not one to show emotions.." she explained reminding me very much of myself.
I stayed quiet the rest of the drive, one cause what the hell would I say, and two Lien was sleeping.
"You staying with her ?" I asked as her friend shook her head.
"No, it's best if she rests but my car is at the house" she explained before we pulled up to the house.
"We gotta change her clothes.. she won't be able to sleep in those" she said as I nodded and carried her up to her room. The room that's more colourful then the whole house.. it really reflected her personality.
I laid her on the bed and walked out closing the door behind me.
She's not taking any of this well..
But she can't stay like this either..
If she does it once, she's gonna do it twice and until she loses count..
After a short while Elena walked out the room carrying her bag on her shoulder.
"She's sleeping, thank you for driving me too" she said as I nodded, and Elena walked out the house starting her car and driving away.
I walked to the kitchen trying to take attention of every step I took, attempting to make the least amount of noise possible. I filled up a glass of water and took a couple Advil’s heading to her room again.
I gently opened the door pressing down on the handle making a little squeak. I took my phone out turning on the flashlight to minimum power and put the water and painkillers beside her on the nightstand, cause man she's gonna need them after this night.
Andrey was right, as much as I hated admitting it to even myself. I'm treating her differently. I'm letting her go loosely while others would have already been dead for things she's doing. Not only because it's my job to protect her but because there's something different about her.
I just need to f**k her and get her out of my system.
I took a seat on the chair in front of her pink bed and turned off the flashlight and sat there for the night.
Why the f**k did I take this job again?
