ACT 1 SCENE 1 (light shines into a well furnished,large, beautiful mansion of the Edison's family. A woman is seen setting the dishes on the elaborate dining table.Mr Williams Wright Edison,a tall,fair skinned, handsome man dressed in suit,walks to the table.He approaches the woman and they began to exchange greetings). MIS.LINDA:Good morning sir! MR WILLIAMS:Good morning, Linda.Hope u slept well?(pats her shoulder). MIS.LINDA:Yh,I slept well,Sir. MR WILLIAMS:So what's up for breakfast?(sits down) MIS.LINDA:uhmm...a simple delicacy(chuckles). (Rayne Mesh,a light skinned beautifully endowed young lady who is recognized as Mr Williams Wright Edison's wife, walks down the stairs and goes to the table). MIS.LINDA:Good morning ma'am! RAYMESH:Good morning,Linda.How are you today?(sits). Mis.Linda:Am fine,thank you. Rayne Mesh:(To her husband)Good morning,dear(pecks him). Mr Williams:Good morning.How was your night? Rayne Mesh:It was good after a stressful day at work yesterday and today,I have a business meeting to catch up with. Mr Williams:I hope today won't be too stressful. Mis.Linda:(Dishes the food into their plates) (As they were discussing and eating, Jessica,the beautiful daughter of Mr Williams Wright Edison walks down the stairs dressed for school and walks to the dining). JESSICA:Good morning,mum(hugs her from behind)Good morning,Dad(sits). RAYNE MESH:Good morning,princess.How are you? JESSICA:Am good(smiling). MR.WILLIAMS:All dressed already? JESSICA:Yes dad.I have to get to school on time. Kim and I have something to do especially now that the time for lab class has changed. RAYNE MESH:Where's your sister? JESSICA:She should be in her room(To Mis.Linda)Good morning, ma'am. MIS.LINDA:Good morning,Jess.How are you? JESSICA:I'm fine and you? MIS.LINDA:Am good. JESSICA:So...where's everyone? (On saying that, Jennifer Edison, a young fair skinned beautiful daughter of Mr and Mrs Edison dressed in a white shirt knotted with a purple tie and a purple short skirt approaches the table and sits down,surfing through her phone. Jennifer is considered to be a psycho,because of her negative attitude towards her family and to few of her schoolmates. Though she's an identical twin with Jessica, she sees her as a rival because she believes that people likes Jessica more,so they take interest in her everywhere she goes. So this has caused a drift between the twins and therefore affecting her relationship with everyone who likes Jessica). JESSICA:Hey Sis,good morning!(smiling). JENNIFER:(To her father)Good morning, dad. MR WILLIAMS:Good morning,dear.How are you? JENNIFER:Am cool.(Dished her food and began eating). (Jessica saw the cold faces on everyone as they were eating. So she brought up an issue). JESSICA:Uhmm...am not sure what to say,but I think this is a good atmosphere to discuss on plans for grandma's birthday coming up very soon. RAYNE MESH:About that,I've thought of organizing a grand party. MR WILLIAMS:Well,don't you think it's going to be too elaborate for her age?why not invite few friends and older relatives as well. JESSICA:Oh no,dad(shakes her head in disagreement)grandma deserves the best party you can think of and it will be more fun and appreciated if it's a surprise party. And I think white and purple flowers would be preferred to decorate the whole house.Don't you think so Mis.Linda?(smiling vividly). MIS.LINDA:Yes dear!She deserves a grand party. Besides there's beauty in grey hair. RAYNE MESH:With this,I think I have to order for flowers. MR WILLIAMS:Well,whatever you guys are planning,handover the bills before the date to avoid delays. JESSICA:Sure,dad(Nods in affirmation). RAYNE MESH:Jenny dear,any contribution concerning your grandma's party? JENNIFER:Huh?! JESSICA:Mum is asking if you have anything to say? JENNIFER (Raises her eyebrow)Concerning what? JESSICA:Grandma's birthday,of course!. JENNIFER:(Gives her a sneering look)Since when did I get involved in planning for a birthday party? or do I look like an event planner? JESSICA:Seriously,Jenny?! We are trying to organize a birthday party for our grandmother and you act like it's none of your business? JENNIFER:(Rolls her eyes)I have better things to do that will benefit me a lifetime than to plan for a one day party.So has that answered your question?(Surfs through her phone). Rayne Mesh,who was getting peeved about Jennifer's behaviour was about to react when she was held back by Mr Williams who managed to calm her down. Jessica and Mis.Linda stared at themselves as they weren't surprised cause they obviously weren't expecting a straight answer from Jenny). MIS.LINDA:(Sights Madam Kate and Rayne Louis)Hey,Madam Kate is here!. (Rayne Louis, an averaged height, dark skinned lady recognized as Mr Williams Wright Edison's younger sister, was seen pushing Madam Kate on her wheelchair as they both got to the table). RAYNE LOUIS:Good morning,everyone(Smiling). JESSICA:Good morning,Aunt(Hugs her).Good morning,Grandma(Hugs her). RAYNE LOUIS:(Hugs Rayne Mesh and sits). MADAM KATE:Good morning,Jessica. How are you? JESSICA:Am fine,grandma and you? MADAM KATE:Well, I keep getting older each day. JESSICA:But you are still the same now and forever(Smiles). MADAM KATE:(Laughs). MIS.LINDA:Good morning,ma'am! MADAM KATE:Good morning,dear Linda. RAYNE MESH:Good morning,Mother. MADAM KATE:Good morning,My dear.How is everything? RAYNE MESH:(Sips her juice)All great and your health? MADAM KATE:Am much better today. RAYNE MESH:Okay then. that's good. MIS.LINDA:(Dishes the food into their plates as they began and continued eating). MADAM KATE:Jenny dear,Haven't heard from you,are you okay? JENNIFER:(Sighs)Hi grandma,I was about leaving. See ya later,bye(Gets up and leaves for school). (Few Minutes later) JESSICA:Uhmm...I should get going to school now. MR WILLIAMS:I'll drop you off at school,Jessica. I'm coming your way today. JESSICA:Okay dad.Thanks(Gets up and packs her grandma) See you all later.(Waves at them)I'll be waiting outside,dad(Heads out). MR WILLIAMS:Ok(To Rayne Mesh)Should we wait for you? RAYNE MESH:Oh,no. I'll take the other car to work. MR WILLIAMS:Ok then(Pecks her)Bye everyone!(Heads out). RAYNE LOUIS:(Smiling). MADAM KATE:Bye,dear! RAYNE MESH:(Checks the time)I have to get to the site before leaving for work. And I have to be there before 9:00. So I got to get going now in order to beat traffic. MADAM KATE:Hmm...Okay then(Continues eating). RAYNE LOUIS:Linda,can you please get a warm glass of water so mum can take her drugs? MIS.LINDA:Sure,I'll be right back(Heads to the kitchen). RAYNE LOUIS:(To Rayne Mesh)But you ain't done eating. RAYNE MESH:Yeah, I can snack on my way out or after work. RAYNE LOUIS:(Nods)Ok then.See you! RAYNE MESH:Sure!(To Madam Kate)Stay strong,Mum(Pats her shoulder). MADAM KATE:Sure,dear. RAYNE MESH:Bye!(Heads out). RAYNE LOUIS:Mum,am beginning to think that Jennifer is having a hard time accepting the fact that she and Jess are sisters. MADAM KATE:Why did you say so? RAYNE LOUIS:(Clears her throat)I mean,her attitude towards her sister and everyone else is really disturbing. Ever since Jess returned from India,Jennifer has really changed. MADAM KATE:That was a long time ago.Many years has gone for her to hold on to such resentment. RAYNE MESH:Exactly. MADAM KATE:(Sighs)Maybe it's teenagehood or stress from school or.... RAYNE LOUIS:(Interrupts)Am sure it's way off those. Come on ,Jess is also a teenager,I was also a teenager. MADAM KATE:Days and people are different. Maybe the young girl needs some time to herself. RAYNE LOUIS:(Gasps)I hope so cause am worried. MADAM KATE:Everyone is. I love my granddaughters so much. RAYNE LOUIS:I know,right!. (They both smiled at each other).
