Valerie's eyes widened in shock.
How did he find me?
She gasped.. her breath hitched in her throat with his hand still firmly covering her mouth .. he leaned in a little closely, a finger lightly touching his lips.. "shh" he hushed her softly...
She could feel the warmth radiating from his skin and it eased the panic in her racing heart. The footsteps of the men slowly faded into silence, the man loosened his hold and guided her towards a black car. He pulled the door open urging her to get in.
Valerie hesitated, her instincts screamed not to trust him, but given her current situation and weighing the chances of being left alone and getting caught.... got into the car
He shut the door firmly behind her, then walked over to the drivers seat.. leans towards her side and fastened her seat belts.. Valerie carefully studied his features..
Sharp cheekbones carved like stone, a pointed nose that added to the fierce symmetry of his face.. defined jawline.. His skin held a pale, almost silver glow under the moonlight..
But it was his eyes that had caught her attention the most..
Deep emerald green with flecks of gold.. they glimmered and shifted subtly with his emotions.. Mysterious and unreadable
His hair midnight black.. tousled and fell just above his collar and shimmered .. he was beautiful..
"What is your name?" Valerie whispered.. much to his hearing..
"I'm Alexander"..

Jake checked his wrist watch.. it was 11pm. His gut twisted. She should've been back an hour ago.. the Cafe's registry book gave out little to no information about her.. he gripped his hair and cursed under his breath.. s**t! No contacts.. Jake grabbed his helmet and strode towards his motorbike..

Valerie sat stiffly in the passengers seat, her fingers clutched tightly on her lap, silence weighed heavily between them as the car sped down the dimly lit road..
She turned to him, her voice low but sharp
"How and why do you always show up when I'm in some sought of trouble?".. She paused, her eyes narrowing.. "How did you know my mum? And... how did you even know I left the city?"
He didn't answer right away.. just kept his eyes on the road..the glow from the dashboard casted sharp shadows across his face.
Valerie’s heart pounded. The silence was louder than any reply.
“I deserve to know,” she said, her voice trembled..
He glanced at her, something unreadable in his eyes. “Valerie…” he sighed, his fingers tightening slightly on the steering wheel. “There’s more to your family background than you know.”
Valerie blinked. Family background?
She’d grown up with just her mum and dad. Her mum..now gone..and her dad, a quiet, distant man who barely spoke about the past.
She felt the familiar sting of confusion rising in her chest.
Suddenly, her eyes widened. “Oh no…” she whispered.
“What is it?” he asked.
“The café’s tricycle,” she muttered. “I—I was supposed to return it before 10. Jake... he’ll be worried.
He pulled the car over to the side of the road and looked at her
