Nathan shifted back and was looking groggy and tired. What happened? I heard a rustle in the bushes behind Nathan and Julius, but ignored it. Luke and Arek hurried over to them and quickly helped Nathan to his feet. Julius was beginning to stir and I hurried to his side.
“Julius?” I gasped and held his hand. “Are you okay? What happened?”
Julius wasn’t able to speak. He just started up at me and smiled. He looked worse than Nathan had. Luke scooped him from my lap and I hurried to follow them into the cabin. Arek was trying to help Nathan, but he refused to move.
“What's wrong?” Arek said and then he stiffened; sniffing wildly. “Ronin?”
Arek turned towards the bushes where I heard the rustling. He called the name again and finally, a large bear walked slowly from the brush. F
