Shock.
That was the only emotion going through my head. I wasn’t sure I had heard Doctor Matteo correctly, but as I turned my face towards Charlie and saw the broad smile on her face, I knew I had.
Walking into the hall, I had no doubt that we would get a positive result because I was sure that Lady Addison would intervene where need be. It was only after hearing Lady Addison say that she hadn’t seen the results beforehand that I admit it made me nervous about the outcome.
I knew Lady Addison well enough to know when she was lying. Her left eye would twitch ever so slightly that it was barely noticeable. You would miss it if you weren’t looking for it, but because something else about her had held my attention, I hadn’t been focused on her eyes as she was talking.
