Her decision

988 Words
Eva slipped into a coma. Life had stopped. Her parents were worried. Her mother kept crying. Everything was the same. The sun rose bright in the sky, and birds chirped and flew across the air. Flowers were blooming, spreading their fragrance. But life had stopped for Eva. Little Grayson was also crying for his mother. He was not ready to understand that his mother was not there for him. Kat was taking care of Grayson, but he still missed his mother. Ethan had not come home since that night. He spent his time either in the office or in hospital with the comatose Eva. He couldn't focus on his work. His mind was occupied thinking about Eva all the time. Finally, he rushed to finish his work and went to see Eva. In the hospital, he kept sitting silently beside her for hours, waiting for her to wake up. After two traumatized days, Eve finally gained consciousness. Her family became happy again when she opened her eyes. Her family thanked God and took a breath in relief. The doctor said she needed emotional stability as her brain was affected badly by accident. She must not get any bad news or shock. So everyone tried to make her happy and not remind her about her accident. It'd been a week, and today was the day Eva would go home. Grayson also came every day to meet her during her stay at the hospital. He promised Eva that he would behave good till the time Eva returned home. After the doctor gave her permission to issue her release papers, Eva's mother packed her stuff and talked about random things to her. Suddenly Eva spoke, " Mom, I don't want to go back to Ethan's place. Could you take me home? " Her mother looked at her, surprised to hear her. She was always a very obedient daughter and a good wife. No one expected that she could say something like that if she didn't want to return to her husband's house. Not to mention she was a very great mother and a dedicated wife. But hearing these words from Eva was unexpected. Her mother asked her, " Why, Eva? Ethan's place is your home. Why did you say that ?" " Please, mom! I don't want to go there. I am tired of that miserable life. I would die if I had to live with him. He doesn't love me or care for me. Please take me home. My childhood home." Eva pleaded. Her eyes were full of tears. Upon seeing her daughter like that, Eva's mother's heart melted, and she nodded. " Okay, darling. But you don't cry. You are still recovering. Don't stress yourself out. " "You will come home with me, wife." A deep voice came from the door. Eva and her mother looked towards the door to find Ethan with his usual cold aura. 'How long was he standing there and listening to their conversation? ' Eva's mother thought. His face was not showing any expression, just as his voice was cold enough to make anyone shiver. " No.... mom... please... I... I "ll not....go with him...." Eva started stuttering, unable to bear Ethan's intimidating aura. She didn't even look at him. Instead, she pleaded with her mother with her tear-filled eyes. " Okay .... Okay ... calm down, darling. I'll talk to him." Her mother tried to calm her down. She hugged Eva, wrapping her arms around her to give her comfort and assurance that she was with her. Eva's nerves calmed down. Her shivering decreased. She was hugging her mother tightly. " Ethan! Let's talk outside.." Eva's mother told him and left the room. She didn't want any argument in front of her daughter as her mental state wasn't stable yet. She didn't want her to break down again. Ethan stared at Eva for a long moment, then left to follow Eva's mother. " Ethan, try to understand ... " Eva's mother said, " .. her condition is still unstable. She needs time to recover, and it will be good if she stays with us and her wounds are also not fully recovered." She continued, " We can take good care of her. Give her some time, Ethan. She went through a lot. " Ethan thought for a moment, "Okay, Maybe you're right. I understand if she needs time." He agreed. "Thank you, son! " Eva's mother softly smiled. She went inside the room to tell Eva she was coming with her parents to her childhood home. Eva sighed in relief at hearing this. Grayson would also be coming with her. She was feeling very weak . Her wounds were not healed completely. Her head would hurt if she thought longer. She needs time for herself. But in her mind, she had already decided what she needed to do. Moving into her parent's place was her first step towards that. Further, she had to plan her next step. For that, she needed to gain her strength and fully recover. She had to. For her son. For herself. By that time, her parents and friends were there to support her. She knew whatever she decided, they would always support her. Ethan was there in the hospital with her, and he was indeed behaving like a good and caring husband. But she knew that was an act for her parents. He didn't care for her. He never cared for her. All those years she had spent had been proof of his cold behavior. She was now tired of his behavior. Only he knew why, in the first place, he got married to her. She thought. She was happy with her son and family, and now she didn't want his intimidating shadow over her life. She didn't want false hope. She wanted to be happy. She wanted to live like a free spirit. She had decided.
